Zong Hengjie, male, 34 years old, is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. During the National Day (October 1) period, Zong was brutally beaten in the Tiexi district police substation. He was tortured to death on October 3, 2000. The police shirked responsibility afterwards, and to cover up the truth, said that Zong committed suicide. The Tiexi district police substation, district procuratorate, and court, together denied all responsibility for Zong~{!/~}s murder. They disallowed Zong's relative to appeal or ask for an attorney. They did not allow an autopsy and ordered Zong~{!/~}s body to be creamated.
