In early October, because Falun Dafa practitioners in Quyang County had gone to appeal in Beijing, Wang Jun, the secretary of the county ordered a full-scale arrest of Falun Dafa practitioners. Practitioners who went to appeal as well as those who attended an earlier conference were all taken into police custody. Many practitioners who were staying at home were also taken to detention centers, such as Liu Shengguo, Ge Lianqiao, etc. Many of them were harvesting the fall wheat crop at home during this time.
This is an account of what these practitioners faced in the detention centers of Quyang County.
1. Savagely beating kindhearted practitioners with no regard for human decency
Gao Jianhong, male, 30, is from the Beiguan district of Quyang county. He is a gentle and honest man, always eager to help others. He makes a living by driving a rickshaw at the local transit station. On October 6, he was badly beaten by police because he attended a Falun Gong conference held on October 3. They tried to force him to reveal who had organized the conference. The brutal police beat him by first slapping his face and then lashing him with leather whips. Realizing this was futile against him, they then used an electric baton. Blue electric sparks from the baton were arcing onto his body. He only said one thing: "I don't know!" The furious policemen hung Gao up and kept beating him for a whole day. After one got tired, another one would take over and continue the beating.
Pang Jinyu, female, 30, was also beaten in the same way. With her hands tied behind her back, she was hung up and beaten. She was savagely beaten for more than one hour. The scene during her beating was too horrible to look at; tears and nasal mucus streamed down her face at the same time. Later on, she could not control her bladder or her bowels and partially lost consciousness. Now Pang Jinyu has been dismissed by her workplace, Lingshan Power Plant. The reason they gave was absence from work.
2. Using 'Fascist' methods -- beating up senior citizens and kids in front of other practitioners in order to force them to give up their practice

In order to protest this illegal detention and inhuman brutality, the non-violent practitioners' only choice was to go on a hunger strike. Dafa practitioners wanted to use their own lives to tell people of the world: "Falun Dafa is the righteous way, we are innocent." In order to suppress this protest, the police of Quyang City used the Fascist method; that is they beat up senior citizens and children in order to force other practitioners to give up their practice. They hung up a nearly 60-year-old woman, Yang Aijun on a tree branch, and a middle school girl, Yang Congyan on the doorjamb (both of them are from Zhujiayu Village). Then they beat the elderly person and the young person in front of other Falun Dafa practitioners. The evil people let all the practitioners see their suffering and hear their screaming. The compassionate practitioners could not bear seeing the suffering of other practitioners, so with tears in their eyes, they agreed to stop their hunger strike. At this point, these policemen who were acting even worse than demons and animals laughed out loud maliciously.
3. Extended detention of a pregnant woman
Liu Yaqing is a 26 year old university student. At the time she was detained in Quyang county detention center, she was already pregnant, although she didn't know it. By mid-October, she was showing obvious signs of pregnancy. The detention center ignored her family's requests to have her examined by a doctor. On October 19, she was sent to a hospital for examination, and the doctor concluded that she was indeed pregnant. But Quyang policemen refused to release her, and they demanded that her family members come up with a fine of 10,000 Yuan (roughly 20 months' income of an average worker). This practitioner was detained for more than 40 days. Not until November 16th was she finally released.
And there is one more thing worth mentioning: on the wall of the detention center, there was a sign reading: "It is forbidden to detain women during pregnancy or breast feeding."
4. Government made falsified statements and maligned Falun Dafa practitioners
In a county-wide emergency meeting, the Quyang county secretary Wang Jun claimed that he received a secret and important message from 'higher up.' The message stated that a practitioner named 'xxx' was organizing Falun Gong practitioners to appeal and was telling each practitioner that they would receive a 999 Yuan reward for going to appeal. Wang was saying this to defame Dafa practitioners' reputations and to deceive people who didn't know the truth. He intended to provoke hatred towards Falun Gong practitioners.
Wang Jun and local police don't care about controlling local organized crime and gangs. Although they know Falun gong practitioners are good people, they still want to persecute them. Wang Jun and his gang are as evil as Jiang Zemin This county has murder crimes every year and local gangs can do whatever they want. The police don't care; they are afraid those ruthless gangs will fight back for revenge -- there was one local criminal who seized the gun from a policeman and shot at the policeman many times. They don't dare to control these kinds of outlaws, and they are afraid to control them. The secretary of the county is afraid to intervene, and the police are even worse because the police chief and the local gangs have embraced each other as brothers.

He was the beast who hung and beat Pang Jinyu, Yang Congyan, Gao Jianhong, and also beat the 60 year old woman Yang Aijun.
