A Brief Report on the Activities of Hong Kong Falun Dafa Practitioners on the 7.20 Anniversary
On the one-year anniversary of the suppression of Falun Gong in China,
Falun Dafa practitioners in Hong Kong started a series of activities to:
tell the truth about Falun Dafa to the public at large, call for the support
and help from the kindhearted people around the world using peaceful means,
urge the Chinese government to stop the suppression and persecution against
Falun Dafa, peacefully resolve the problem through a direct dialogue, and
return the reputation back to Falun Dafa and Teacher Li .
The practitioners dispatching materials at the pedestrian overpass in
front of the Customs Headquarter in the Wanzi district had some interesting
experience with the public. Although most people passed by the practitioners
in a hurry, many were willing to take and read the materials handed to
them; some intentionally came to us for the materials after they realized
that it was about Falun Gong; some even turned back to ask for the material
after they had passed by. Unfortunately we did not prepare English materials
at that time. Many westerners asked for the materials, and we could only
tell them that these are Chinese materials. I was quite inspired when I
saw two westerners smile and say, "I would try to read it even if it is
a Chinese one! and one of them said, "Good luck!á
One practitioner replied seriously, "How can we run away from the wind
and rain? This is nothing compared with what Teacher has suffered for us!"
Indeed, when we inspect ourselves, can we all say that in this unprecedented
storm, we have not let the evils and bad thoughts take advantage of us?
Haven't we increased the burden on our Teacher because of our mistakes?
Are we really worthy of the effort of our compassionate Teacher who is
caring for the progress of our cultivation day and night?
The petition letter was delivered to the front door of the Central Government's
Liaison Office, but the door was locked and the staff behind the tinted
glass door hid behind the counters in fear of being included in the photos
by reporters. They formed a sharp contrast with the above-board practitioners
standing outside.

From early morning, July 20th, the practitioners spontaneously formed groups
to dispatch brochures and flyers telling the truth of Falun Gong in populous
communities. In a short period of time, the practitioners spread to subway
stations, pedestrian overpassá and downtown streets. Their yellow
exercise clothing was especially eye-catching among the pedestrians. They
dispatched several thousand copies of materials in a few hours.
We basically practiced the exercises in the wind and rain during the 2-hour
exercise period. Over 100 practitioners, including 5-year-old children,
80-year-old seniors, veteran practitioners who had been cultivating Falun
Dafa for 7 years, or new comers, joined the exercises and they all finished
the exercises from the beginning to the end. The exercise scene was solemn
and peaceful, and the whole process of the exercise demonstration was quite
touching. The reporters and policemen surrounding us were all wearing mackintoshes
or under their umbrellas. One policeman asked our volunteers in surprise,
"Won't you catch cold?"

We finally completed the 2-hour exercise in the intermittent wind
and rain.á During the candlelight vigil that followed, practitioners
were either quietly studying Fa, or participating in discussion groups.
The activity was concluded with a group reciting of "LunYu".
