[Yushu City, Jilin Province] The Crime of Persecuting Dafa Practitioners in Yushu City Detention Center
From August and September 1999 to the present, there have been Dafa practitioners detained in Yushu City Detention Center. In the Middle Autumn Festival in 1999 [in September 1999], the guards brutally beat up practitioners with nylon tubes because they practiced and recited the Fa. A female practitioner from Xinli County, 5 or 6 months pregnant, was beaten by guard Hu so badly that bruises covered all over her body. Some of her hair was pulled out. Shen Hongyan, Yang Fuzhen, Zhao Shuxia were beaten up till they were bruised all over their bodies and faces. Practitioner Zhang Huayun was put in shackles and forced to walk around in the yard. If they walked a little bit slow, they would be beaten. Xu Yaxuan, former general secretary of Carpentry Factory, was beaten till he lost consciousness. The same thing happened to Liu Shujuan because she refused to sign on the Guarantee Letter. Her husband bailed her out.
In February 2000, the police forced more than 100 practitioners into the detention center. Because we kept practicing exercises every morning, the director of the detention center and the guards cursed and beat us. They left us outside in freezing temperatures (below -4 F) for 2 to 3 hours on an icy field. Practitioner Liu Jinfeng was dragged outside by guard Gao. He forced her to sit on an ice stack. If she moved a little, the guard would beat her frozen fingers with a bamboo strip. On February 28, 2000, the practitioners in No. 8 cell got up and started practicing at 3am in the morning. Four musclemen under the leadership of guard Sun forcibly took off the cotton trousers of Liu Shujuan, Ren Chunying, Zhu Yanling, Hao Shuqin, Chai Xiuzhi and Zhou Qiling leaving only their underwear. They brutally beat up the practitioners with all their strength. The four musclemen would rest in between the beatings. They beat these practitioners for at least 90 minutes. After the beatings, they forced the practitioners to stand outside and left them in the freezing temperatures (below -4F). The practitioners did not have any clothes on except their underwear. Zhu Yanling and Chai Xiuzhi immediately lost their consciousness. Other practitioners tried to carry them inside. But one of the inhumane guards shouted, "Do not take them back inside. It is normal if several of them die."

Since January 18, 2001, police began to interrogate practitioners on a large scale in Shanghai. The content of the interrogations was prepared by those higher up in the government. Those practitioners who did not meet with their requirements when answering the questions were put under 24 hours surveillance. They were not allowed to go to work or go shopping. Practitioners asked them, "Why are you so scared by our kind practitioners?" They revealed the secret, "It is not us but the upper government who are afraid of you."

On December 14, 2000, 37 practitioners from Jingmen, Zhongxiang and Jingshan City were force to attend the so-called "transformation class." A practitioner who refused to attend was sent to a detention center. Due to the resistance from the rest of the 36 practitioners, the class could not continue after ten days. None of the practitioners were transformed. The repressors sent these practitioners to a detention center. 14 practitioners were detained at the Jingmen City Dongbao Detention Center and some of other people were put into jail. After a practitioner went on hunger strike, the director of the Dongbao Police Station threw his head against the wall, forced him to get down on his knees and viciously kicked him in his back. Later the practitioner was detained in a restraint cell for 14 days.
On January 10, 2001, practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest against writing the guarantee statements. Four days after practitioners went on the hunger strike, 2 practitioners were sent to labor camp. Some practitioners had been detained for 3 months before the "transforming class". Some were beaten through the whole night. After 5 days on the hunger strike, practitioners were released after being forced to hand in 30 Yuan per day of detention.

A lot of practitioners were detained in Shayang Labor Camp. They were divided into 8 groups. Each group had about 50 to 60 persons. Some groups had more than 80 practitioners. It was estimated that more than 400 practitioners were illegally detained there.
[Xingtai City, Hebei Province] The Real Situation of Persecution of Dafa Practitioners in Xingtai Area
On October 16, 2000, practitioners Wang Zixiang, Zhao Jun, Guo Qiufen and Qian Wanyun from Xingtai City, Hebei Province were arrested because they distributed Dafa materials. The head of the Qiaoxi police sub-bureau, Qi Yuzhu, gave the order to treat Dafa Gong with severe measures. After the police received the special order that they can claim the practitioners "commit suicide if they are beaten to death," they went crazy. All practitioners were beaten and shocked by electric batons. They were handcuffed behind the back, and not allowed to sleep while being constantly interrogated. The evil policemen Qiao Wei and Han Guoqiang brutally beat Wang Zixiang, Guo Qiufen and Qian Wanyun, shocked them with electric batons, and burned the practitioners with cigarettes. Wang Zixiang got big blisters on his arm due to the cigarette burning. Qian Wanyun's face was deformed after the beating.
At 2 pm on November 12, 2000, Yang Fengyun, a cadre of Xingtai Branch of China Bank, was taken away illegally by the police when he was sending out emails. He had sent out more than ten copies of Dafa truth materials to other branches of China Bank in nine provinces and cities including Zhejiang Province, Qinghai Province, Yunnan Province, Tibet, Tianjin City and Shanghai City. Unfortunately, he was caught by the authorities. In the Special Case Group, 29-year-old Yang Fengyun (graduated from an university) was brutally tortured continuously for 6 days. He lost consciousness several times due to the beating.

Song Xitian, Head of the Cotton Mill in Xingtai City Persecutes Dafa Practitioners Illegally
After a practitioner went to Beijing on January 1, 2001, Song Xitian asked every employee (more than 10,000) to write letters guaranteeing they would not practice Falun Gong. He forced them to curse Teacher Li and write down "Falun Gong is [slanderous words omitted]" in their letters, otherwise he would consider any employee who refused as a Falun Gong practitioner and put the employee under surveillance. Song's behavior not only created a great amount of Karma for himself, but also ruined the last chance of all the employees to be saved.
As early as October 2000, Song had detained three Dafa practitioners for ten days; he released them after they went on hunger strike.

[Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Before the Spring Festival [From January 24, 2001] the Police Start to Massively Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners
Since it is very close to the Spring Festival, the police from Xingtai City, Hebei Province started to massively persecute Falun Gong practitioners.
On December 25, 2000, the police from the Xingtai Police Station brought back more than 100 practitioners from Beijing. These practitioners all went to Beijing to validate Dafa and did not tell their names. Because the jails in Beijing could no longer hold so many practitioners, the police had to transfer the practitioners to nearby cities. The police in Xingtai City then sent these practitioners to the Detention Centers of the counties in Xingtai area. The detention centers are full of Dafa practitioners now.
Since the Spring Festival is coming close, all police stations, sub-stations and other big factories began to persecute Dafa practitioners without restraint and detain them illegally. All these police stations, big factories and residential committee offices received the orders to persecute Falun Gong from higher level authorities, and they pledged to follow the orders. They have guaranteed that there would be no one practicing Falun Gong in this area and there would not be any Falun Gong practitioner going to Beijing to appeal. The police illegally searched the homes of ordinary people and arrested people at will. The big factories set up their own detention centers to detain Falun Gong practitioners, and they did not allow the detained practitioners to reunite with their families during the Spring Festival. Their behaviors have already violated the National Constitution, No. 36 item: "The citizen of PRC has the freedom of beliefs," and No. 37 item: "The freedom of the citizen of PRC is inviolable."

At the night on January 18, 2001, since the police were afraid of practitioners going to appeal during the Spring Festival, they broke into practitioners' homes and took them away under the charge of "persisting to practice". They sent practitioners to a "transformation class" held by Shenyang City Detention Center. Practitioners were informed that the "transforming class" would last for 2 months. Those practitioners who could not be transformed would be sent to labor camps. In the middle of January 2001, every work unit published a name list of practitioners in Benxi City who went to appeal. Last November, there were 50 practitioners who went to appeal. During last December there were 58 practitioners who went to appeal. During the middle of January more than 80 practitioners were escorted back from Beijing. Since October 1, 2000, the number of practitioners in Benxi City going to appeal has been increasing, which scared the evil force. Since October 1, those practitioners who went to appeal or distributed Dafa material have been sentenced to 1 to 3 years in labor camp. Beginning in 2001, even the 70 to 80 years old practitioners were being treated the same way. On one hand, they tried to forcibly transform practitioners; on the other hand, they sentenced them to labor camp or Masanjia Labor Re-education Center.
