"Clarify the truth thoroughly, eliminate the evil with righteous thoughts, save all beings, and safeguard the Fa with determination" (Dafa is Indestructible)

Understanding from The New York Times' Article: "Then Came the Locusts: A Chinese Region Reels"

09/25/01

(Clearwisdom.net)

A report in The New York Times describes the effects of three years of calamities in Inner Mongolia to the people living there. "...the sheep and cattle herders of Inner Mongolia are bewildered." "'I don't understand what's happening,' said Jibutsima, 78, an ethnic Mongolian woman who, like hundreds of thousands of others in this part of northern China, sees her life falling apart." Dafa can clear up confusions, and Dafa practitioners can clearly see the real reason behind the calamities.

In fact, natural disasters are induced by human calamities. Human calamities are not only those damages to the environment, which is understood by most people nowadays, they relate more closely to the moral corruption of human being's moral standards. Before the Chinese government started to suppress Falun Gong, natural disasters in the country were already very serious; however, they were nothing compared to what has happened after the suppression of Falun Gong.

In the report from The New York Times, it says, "...The troubles started in the summer of 1999," It was exactly the summer when Jiang Zemin and his associates started to suppress Falun Gong in China. Falun Gong, the cultivation system which adheres to the universal principles, "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance," was being severely persecuted. In the same summer, natural disasters, which were to last three years, began in Inner Mongolia. In fact, it was not only in Inner Mongolia. The number and severity of disasters and human calamities increased dramatically throughout the country beginning in the summer of 1999. The Mongolian lady may have had a foreboding: "Maybe the heavens are disturbed," Think carefully: all of these are not accidental, these are warning signs from heaven: heaven is angry.

The Chinese have always believed the principle that good will meet with good and evil with evil. Jiang Zemin and his associates mobilized the whole country's machinery to crazily slander Falun Dafa and its founder and viciously persecute Falun Gong practitioners that believe in "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." What they have done has created boundless karma. Since ancient times, natural disasters have been the warning signals from heaven. If Jiang and his associates go their own way and continue to escalate the persecution against Falun Gong, then there will be more serious calamities in the near future. Pitifully, those who committed crimes in their ignorance will have to pay for their debts anyway.

In the article, "When the Fa is Right" from Falun Dafa Essentials For Further Advancement, Teacher Li Hongzhi wrote, "When people do not have virtue, natural calamities and man-made disasters will abound. When the earth does not have virtue, everything will wither and fall. When heaven deviates from the Dao, the ground will crack, the sky will collapse, and the whole cosmos will be empty."

Facing natural calamities and man-made disasters, human beings must repent and try to make amends. That is the only solution.
