Torture and Sexual Harassment of Female Practitioners in Funing County of Qinghuangdao City, Hebei Province

- Liu Yonglian, female, was illegally arrested at home by more than 20 police officers. Without giving her a chance to put on an overcoat or shoes, they carried her to the Funing County Detention Center. Initially, Liu Yonglian was told she would be released after 7 days; however, she was transferred to the Tangshan City Kaiping Labor Camp where she currently remains.
- Zhang Tao, male, went to the hospital to look after his bed-ridden father who had suffered a stroke, when he was forcefully taken by the local police to the Funing County Detention Center. He was released after going on a hunger strike for more than 40 days.
- Shen Suyan, female, was arrested at her home by officers from Caoying Town Police Station and brought to the Funing County Detention Center. On the second day of her hunger strike, she was forcefully handcuffed from behind (with Horse Hoof cuffs, the most cruel torture equipment which are oval shaped) and was forcefully fed via a tube. As a result, the liquid went into her lungs, and later that night, she fell unconscious. When they took off the handcuffs, there were huge blisters on her wrists, leaving very deep marks. On the day after the next, they once again tube-fed her. Shen showed signs of unconsciousness and she was transferred to the detention center after fainting two more times. She was rushed to the emergency unit at the local Chinese Traditional Medicine Hospital after passing out once more. When she arrived at the hospital, her blood pressure was at zero and they were unable to draw any blood. After being hospitalized and receiving emergency treatment for six days, she was detained at the detention center for one month before being transferred to the Tangshan City Kaiping Labor Camp.
- One officer from the Caoying Town's Funing County Police Station ordered a female practitioner's family to hand over 4000 Yuan (approximately 8 months salary of an average urban worker in China) and threatened to rape the practitioner if the family did not comply with his order. This officer made this wicked demand in order to extort money from the woman's family. The practitioner, while not fully clothed, ran out into the street calling for help. In the end, the Mayor of Caoying Town, because he was afraid of the bad affect this event might cause, made the government officials of the entire town, kneel in front of the practitioner so she would not tell anyone about the incident. They also sealed off all information about this matter so that it would not spread.
- Feng Sulan, female, was forcefully carried to the Funing County Detention Center without having a chance to put on her shoes. Two days later, she was transferred to the county's Detention Center and handcuffed while on her back after starting a hunger strike. When she resisted, she was handcuffed and shackled to a steel bed for two days.
- The severe violence perpetrated by overseers from the Funing County brainwashing class was demonstrated when they beat practitioner Zhao Shunying until she fainted. Zhao, a female, was placed inside a gunnysack and carried. They tortured Pan Suyan, also a female, until she was diagnosed with uraemia by the Chinese Traditional Medicine Hospital. For this condition, she required a blood transfusion as treatment. Those responsible for this violence and cruel treatment also interrogated practitioners in the middle of the night; burned female practitioners' lips with cigarette butts; used all their strength to stomp on female practitioners' breasts while wearing large leather boots. Practitioners were beaten until there were cuts all over their bodies along with dark bruises, even under the armpits. They lied to others saying that the practitioner fell. This brainwashing class has always detained practitioners for indefinite periods of time. The first class lasted for 9 months, and the current one has been going for 10 months and still continues.
- While the Political Protection Unit of the Funing County Police Department interrogated practitioners, they tried to force practitioners to step on Teacher's picture. If practitioners refused, then they were subject to all sorts of brutal treatment. Once, while interrogating a female practitioner, in order to achieve their goal, two young male officers almost completely tore off the practitioner's trousers. One of the practitioners risked his life fighting back because he could no longer tolerate such torture. The officers became scared, they welded a chair from a steel pipe, and locked the practitioner in it while they interrogated him.
- Practitioners who are illegally sentenced to labor camps in Funing County are:Hao Jianling, Feng Yushan, Zhou Yanqiu, Zhao Jinxi, Shen Liyong, Han Fuseng, Liu Yonglian, Shen Suyan, Zhang Yueying, Du Jie, Zhang Yafeng, Han Yong.
