[Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Jiang Zemin Issues New Persecution
Policy
A reliable source has reported that starting around October 12, 2001, Harbin
City has started implementing a new policy on persecuting Falun Gong. This
policy was issued directly by Jiang Zemin to the Party Committee of Heilongjiang
Province. It states that because the APEC [Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation]
Convention is being held in Shanghai, all Falun Dafa practitioners within the
region must be arrested. More than ten Falun Dafa practitioners have been
arrested in Harbin City alone and at least two homes that were used to produce
Falun Dafa literature and CDs have been destroyed.
[Shaanxi Province] 53 Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested in Shaanxi Province,
About 30 on Hunger Strike
October 1st, 2001 was a double holiday, for it was the Mid-Fall
Festival as well as National Day. The Police Department of Shaanxi Province
arrested 53 Falun Dafa practitioners. Initially, they were detained in Liejiatan
Detention Center in Hu County, but because more than 30 practitioners went on a
hunger strike, they were all sent deep into a forest on a mountain. Among them
was Xiao Shoutang, a 71-year-old retired soldier.
Police told the practitioners' family members that the practitioners deserved
to eat bullets. If they died, it would be like nothing had happened. The police
tried hard to cover up the arrest, the hunger strike, and the secret transfer
into the forest. Their evil intentions and scandalous behavior cause us to worry
for the safety of these practitioners.

[Beijing] Plan to Hold Brainwashing Class in Outer Deshengmen Fails
In the middle of October, the Outer Deshengmen Police Station developed a
plan to arrest over 20 practitioners in order to brainwash them. Their plan
actually failed as they were only able to catch one elderly woman
[Wuji County, Hebei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Gu Guoqiang of Wuji
County, Hebei Province, Illegally Detained for 48 Days
Falun Dafa practitioner, Gu Guoqiang of Wuji County, Hebei Province, was
illegally detained for 9 days after July 20th, 1999, because he
firmly cultivated in Falun Dafa. He was also illegally detained for 4 months in
October 1999, and illegally fined 4000 Yuan [average monthly pay for an urban
worker in China is 500 Yuan RMB.] Then in March 2000, he was illegally
sentenced to a labor camp because he said some righteous words (see Latest News

After having completed his sentence in March of this year, he started working as
a taxicab driver.
On the morning of August 28th, Song Hunxi, the Director of the
Political and Security Section of the Wuji County Police Station, Instructor Li
Zhanguo, and police officer Wang Congmin abducted Gu Guoqiang while he was
working. On the same evening at 6 pm and at 8 pm, they illegally searched his
home without any warrant. They took away his child's computer and printer, then
drove away in his taxi (upon request they were later returned.) Gu Guoqiang is
still being detained in Chengbei Detention Center. We heard that he was accused
of "libel." The reason for this is that they found literature that
revealed the truth about Falun Dafa within the county government, county
People's Congress, and county Political Consultation Conference, and the
"6-10 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun
Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all
other political and judiciary systems] suspected that Gu Guoqiang was
responsible.

[Qingdao City, Shandong Province] News from Qingdao
Starting on October 1st, 2001, the evil forces in Qingdao went
wilder than ever before and held continuous brainwashing classes in the Sixth
Rubber Factory. We heard that Falun Dafa practitioners remained very firm in the
brainwashing classes. Some of them were beaten many times, and some even had to
get more than ten stitches in their heads. In the end, the evil forces were too
afraid to dare to escalate the persecution and had to end their city-wide
brainwashing campaign. The righteous thoughts and righteous actions of the
practitioners in Qingdao were very effective in restraining and eliminating the
evil forces.
