A Convict Sentenced to Death Obtains A New Life

Guan Pei was a 29 year-old female convict whom had committed homicide. Her hometown is in Liaoning Province and she was put in a prison at a Hubei Province Detention Center. During her time in prison, she felt so depressed and full of pain that her face had been wet with tears up until the time that she learned Falun Dafa. In order to read Zhuan Falun, she paid a prison guard 400 Yuan in exchange for a private approval. After she read the book for a week, the guard took Zhuan Falun away from her because she supported practitioners practicing the Falun Gong exercises in their cells. One day when a practitioner was locked in a solitary confinement cell due to practicing the exercises, she shouted to the police, "All Falun Gong practitioners are nice people. Please don't beat them. I am the one who committed homicide. If you want to beat someone, please come and beat me!" Another time, when a few persons working with the Higher People's Court came to the detention center to interrogate her, she used this chance to talk with them about Dafa. They asked her in surprise, "We'd like to talk to you about your case. Why do you mention Falun Gong to us?" Guan Pei told them, "I am practicing Falun Gong now. Falun Gong is so good that it shouldn't be banned. If I could have had gotten to know Dafa earlier, I wouldn't have committed this crime." Her words shocked them. They said to her, "All other prisoners always attempt to defend themselves and say that they are not guilty. You are the only one who hasn't defended yourself."

At noon when practitioners were practicing the Falun Gong exercises, and she could not practice with them due to the shackles put on both her hands and feet, she sat beside them attempting to protect them from being beat by the police. She studied Fa very diligently. Each time when some practitioners were in a cell together, she always asked them to write down a few of Teacher's articles for her. In the past she had suffered from poor memory so severely that she was even unable to memorize her own cellular phone number. Now she can recite more than 20 articles including "Lun Yu" and many poems in Hongyin. She is also diligent in her xinxing (the nature of mind or moral character) cultivation. Whenever she learned that some people in a cell needed food or clothes, she always offered them a hand. She had been a bad-tempered woman, who liked fighting and cursing people, and had also indulged in smoking and drinking. After she learned Falun Gong, she gave up smoking and drinking happily. She even encouraged us to clarify the truth to people if we were released so more and more people could get to know Falun Dafa. She sincerely hopes that all Dafa practitioners could cherish Dafa.

Unshakable Belief in Dafa, Creates Miracles

Zhao was a middle-aged practitioner from Hubei Province. In November 2000, he went to Beijing alone to appeal for Falun Gong. Because he refused to give his name and residency to the police in Beijing, he was beaten severely which resulted in him having a mental breakdown and his head shook with constant tremors from the abuse. Everyone who had seen him regarded him as disabled. But he still kept one thought in mind all the time, i.e. the solid determination for Falun Dafa.

After he was taken back to his residence by local policemen, he was detained in a detention center. He hardly ate any food there and in total the food that he was able to eat per day was less than 1.75 ounces. He also forgot his name. All ordinary people thought that he was on the verge of death. But Zhao still kept practicing the Falun Gong exercises. When the police asked him if he still wanted to practice Falun Gong while brutally beating him during interrogations, he always answered "Yes, I want to practice Falun Gong for as long as I can breathe." Being afraid that he might die in the detention center, he was allowed to go home after more than 20 days' illegal detention. The detention center even informed his relatives that he was going to die. After he was sent home, he persisted on practicing Falun Gong exercises. A few months later his health recovered completely. All ordinary people who heard about this news were shocked by this marvelous fact. After he successfully eluded the police's surveillance, Zhao left home to join in the Fa Rectification.
