Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Shijiazhuang City, Lingshou County

Lingshou County in Hebei Province is located in the area of Taihang Mountain, under the government of Shijiazhuang City. Although there is much poverty in this county, people living there are honest and kind. Peace and happiness was brought to the area by the practice of Falun Gong and its principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." However, since Jiang Zemin started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, a small group of unlawful people in Lingshou County have been following his directions and escalating their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The following illustrates their evil conduct.

They search the homes of many practitioners, beat them up, and arrest them. Peng Zhanliang, the vice secretary of the county committee who is in charge of Falun Gong issues keeps on saying: "We should strike Falun Gong hard and deeply." Under his directions, the police department of Shijiazhuang City illegally imprisoned practitioner Meng Zhaowen from Shijiazhuang Fertilizer Manufacturing and Guo Feng from Ciyu County.

In January of this year, 9 practitioners in Lingshou County went to Beijing to appeal. The vice commanding director in the county police department, Niu Xinjiang, was furious and led several people to Beijing to take the practitioners back. The people he took with him were the head of the Politics and Security Section, Cao Qingfeng, police officer Zhao Lanjiang, and the head of the police station in Nanzhai County, Liu Yunhai (who is now head of the police station in Chatou County). They put the practitioners into the county detention center. During the interrogation, Cao Qingfeng, Zhao Lianjiang, and Li Yunhai beat practitioners up-- especially Liu Yunhai, who used all sorts of physical torture on a man nearly 70 years of age until he, Liu Yuhai, got exhausted from the beating. Yet no matter how crazy the evil policeman acted, he couldn't destroy the elderly man's firm belief in Dafa. The second time Liu interrogated the old man, he put the handcuffs so tight on him that they cut into his flesh and blood dripped along his wrists. The flesh rolled up near the edge of the handcuffs and his hands swelled up in ten minutes. Liu kept the handcuffs on the old man in this way for an hour. When the handcuffs were finally taken off, the old man's hands were extremely swollen and he lost all feeling in them.

In order to protest such inhuman tortures and detention, the practitioners went on a hunger strike one after another. One practitioner hadn't had any food or water for 20 days but was glowing with health and radiating vigor. During that time, the guards tried to give her an intravenous infusion. The moment they did it, her whole body started to twitch and she lost consciousness. The guards had to take out the syringe needle and stop the infusion. The incident shocked the detention center and let all the guards see the extraordinary power of Dafa. They extorted 2000 to 5000 Yuan (the average monthly income of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.) from the practitioners' families and set them free. The old man was determined not to follow any of the demands, refusing to write a promise to give up practicing or to turn in any fine. He had been detained for 70 days before being released.

In March of this year, the police in Lingshou County, with the help of the head of Ciyu County Police Station Fu Shizhong, illegally arrested 6 practitioners without any evidence of wrongdoing, including Zhang Jinsuo and Xu Luxiang in Ciyu County, and Liu Yinghua in Qingjing County. Intending to get praise from their supervisors, the police labeled the 6 innocent practitioners as "a criminal group." They wanted to sentence Zhang Jinsuo to jail. Denied of a lawyer, Zhang defended himself as not guilty. His reasonable defense and stately manner as a Dafa practitioner brought the illegal trial to an end. The evil's intent was broken. The other 4 practitioners were sentenced to labor camps without any legal procedure. One of them was found to have stomach cancer in his medical record before he started practicing Dafa. So he failed the physical examination and was released. The other 3 have been detained in Shijiazhuang Labor Camp until now.

Recently the police have started to arrest practitioners again to put them in brainwashing classes. They went to the home of a practitioner and tried to trick her into the brainwashing class. Later they bluntly revealed that it was a kind of "education class." The practitioner was taking care of her child at that time. She said she was going to send the child to her parents' home in the neighboring village. Cao Qingfeng, falsely offered to give them a ride, and instead took both the mother and the child to the commune, sent someone to watch them, and left to arrest other practitioners. This practitioner thought that she should not allow the police to detain her like that. So she sent forth righteous thoughts and left. She kept sending forth righteous thoughts to stop them from catching up to her. Just then, Cao Qingfeng and other policemen drove their car toward her from the opposite direction. Seeing that a policeman in the car was staring at her, she sent forth righteous thoughts to block his sight of her. Thus, she passed them and returned safely.

According to some sources, the police have found some truth-clarifying materials of Dafa and posters in a tourist sight in Lingshou County. They arrested several practitioners from Shijiazhuang who went there for sight seeing. These practitioners are still being detained in the county detention center. It is said that they are on a hunger strike to protest such unlawful conduct. Here we call this to the attention of all kind-hearted people.
