Radio Canada International: Beijing, Falun Gong

A woman follower of the banned Falun Gong movement was reportedly thrown to her death from a window by police in the Chinese province of Liaoning.

According to the New York-based Falun Dafa Information Centre, The woman Yu Xiuling died on September 19th after a lengthy beating by Police and then was thrown from the seventh story of a building in a village in Chaoyang county.

The Centre says police arrested her for being a member of Falun Gong. Police in the region deny any knowledge of the incident. Since the banning of Falun Gong in July, 1999, officials of the group claim that some 280 members have died in custody at the hands of Chinese police.

Also, thousands have been jailed for their beliefs in the spiritual group Which claims to have nearly one hundred million members most of them in China.
