San Diego: Falun Dafa Practitioners Participate in the Local Community Parade

In the morning on September 15, 2001, Falun Dafa practitioners from San Diego participated in the Poway Community Traditional Parade. The practitioners arrived at the parade starting venue in the early morning. They used banners and colorful balloons on which the words of "Falun Dafa" and "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" were printed, to decorate the vehicles for the parade. The practitioners walking in front of the vehicles held high large banners of "Falun Dafa" and "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" in both English and Chinese, and banners of "Eliminate Evil Forces" made temporarily.

The sunshine in September in Southern California was still scorching. A western practitioner demonstrated the Falun Gong exercise by himself in the procession in spite of the scorching hot sun. Later, he invited a Chinese female practitioner to join him. In the slow-moving parade, the movements of the two practitioners following the exercise music caught people's attention and many people followed along with the hand gestures.

The host introduced Falun Gong four times over the loud speakers during the one and a half hour parade. Throughout the entire way, our procession received a warm welcome and sincere applause. Many people greeted us by giving us the thumbs up sign.
