Below is a letter from a practitioner that is illegally detained in the Wanjia Labor Camp to her sister.

Dear Sister, how are you?

We have not seen each other since December 2000. I have many things to tell you, especially about what I have witnessed at the Wanjia Labor Camp. Since I arrived at this camp, I have seen Dafa practitioners bravely validating and guarding Dafa. Compared to their devotion in perfecting themselves I see my weaknesses clearly, and I have strengthened my dedication to protect and validate Dafa, reveal the evil forces' crimes, and help Master to save more people. Only by doing these things can I be a Dafa disciple, make up my deficits, and make progress in Fa-rectification.

Sister, I want to tell you what I have seen and what I have suffered at this camp. The evil forces here are rampant and use every means to force us practitioners to give up. Officers cheat us in all ways and force us to watch videotapes of collaborators in order to shake our belief in Falun Dafa. When they found that these methods did not work, they started to use various ways of torturing us. Here are just a few of many cases.

Zhang Jian, Female, 54, a citizen of Mishan, was locked in an iron-chair for 8 days and nights and not allowed to sleep or even nap. She was fed several teaspoons of corn soup twice a day, so she was always hungry. She was also handcuffed to the door in a "small cell" three times, each time lasted 72 hours without being allowed to sleep. She was only untied for ten minutes each day in order to eat and use the toilet. Because she has lived in a dark damp cell for a long period of time, her whole body is infected with scabies. To protest these humiliating treatments, she has been on a hunger strike for 23 days.

Similarly, to protest the persecution, more than 200 practitioners detained in the 7^th brigade went on a hunger strike from April 1 to 30, 2001.

Zhang Jun, female, 48, a citizen of A-Cheng, was also locked into a "small cell" once, and she passed out one time when she was tied and hung up.

Zhang Suqin, female, 43, citizen of A-Cheng, was locked into a "small cell" many times. Every day she was ordered to stand upright from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm, even up to 11:00 pm. She was not allowed to wear shoes even in winter and had to stand on the cold floor. The temperature was so cold that she could not sleep at all, since she had been given neither a quilt nor a bed sheet. [Editor's note: The temperature in Harbin area in winter is frequently lower than 20^oC, (-4F), and the cells are not well heated.]

Pan Xuanhua, female, 54, citizen of Harbin, was locked in a "small cell" several times, up to 9 months in total. She suffered from various outrageous treatments. On June 18^th, she was locked in the "small cell"; on June 20^th she was tied and hung up for 21 hours. While she was hanging up, a wicked officer, Li Min, put some toilet tissue into her mouth and sealed her mouth with tape to prevent her from making any noise. He then beat her with his fists and an electronic baton. Her face was swollen and her nose and mouth were bleeding from the beating. When she was let down, she could not stand on her feet, nor straighten up her back. After that she was in a state of delirium, suffered urinary incontinence for one month, and frequently screamed. She lost consciousness on June 28 for a whole day and could not be woken up until two hours after she was taken outside.

That time there were 16 practitioners locked in "small cells." Before that, 12 practitioners were tortured until they passed out. When they were still extremely weak and in a state of delirium, they were locked in "small cells" on June 26, 2001. They were not allowed to communicate with anyone or even talk to other detained practitioners. They were allowed less and less time to be out of the cells, and this time was eventually totally eliminated. Their money was seized and they had to request approval to buy toothpaste or sanitary pads. Living in the dark damp cells, 14 of 16 practitioners were infected with scabies [Note: a type of tiny mite (similar to lice) that burrows under the skin causing infection and severe itching and is highly contagious] all over their bodies, which caused extreme itching; and that kind of pain is hard to bear.

Yang Xiuli, female, 34, citizen of Daqing, was also locked in a "small cell". During that period, she was beaten up by the nefarious officer Li Min with his fists. He also grasped her hair and struck her head against the iron heater. Since she was continually hung up and not allowed to use the toilet, as result she could only urinate on the floor. Then officers Quan Minghao and Wu Baoyun pushed her body on the floor and used her clothes to wipe up the urine. They also covered her mouth to suffocate her. The male officer beat her face and head until they swelled up, and used an electronic baton to shock her, which made her scream terribly; he also insulted her with dirty language.

Chen Yali, female, 32, a citizen of Harbin, was tied and hung up for 27 hours. She was beaten and sexually assaulted by the disreputable officer Li Min. He hung her up very high and only allowed her toes to touch floor, and then he swung her back and forth to make her scream. He also grabbed her breasts and shouted dirty words to insult her both physically and spiritually. When she was almost dead an officer forced her to "change her mind" and turn in Zhuan Falun. After she was locked in the "small cell" she was also infected with scabies. In order to protest this unfair treatment to innocent practitioners she went on a hunger strike for 39 days.

Ms. Zhu Chunrong was still kindly clarifying the truth about Falun Gong after she was tied and hung up. This caused officers Mao and Wu Baoyun to beat her face with their shoes. Her nose and mouth were beaten, which caused bleeding and swelling. Her mouth was sealed with tape. When she was let down she could not walk. Her hands were extremely swollen from the lack of circulation and even had blisters. Two weeks later she still felt as if her arms were tied and hung up.

Ms. Han Shaoqin was on a hunger strike for 39 days. She was beaten and forcibly fed by Jiang Chao, a camp officer. The president of the camp hospital Song Shaohui scraped her scabies off brutally, which was extremely painful, causing her whole body to bleed and she developed a high fever. She suffered all kinds of pain from the scabies, hunger strike, force-feeding, and scraping to remove the scabies. However, that was not all. On October 15, Han Shaoqin and another female practitioner Wang Fang were called out from their cells. They were told to talk with officers from the 610 office; however they never came back and nobody knows their whereabouts. Wanjia Camp officers are used to abusing us in many ways. They frequently call us to the office "to have a talk;" but once we arrive there they search our bodies and even remove all of our clothes. Ms. Gao Shuyan and I have both experienced such searches.

I was tied and hung up for 32 hours. My mouth was sealed so that I had difficultly breathing. My feet swelled so much that I could not walk, and I couldn't even turn over when I was in bed. My hands were covered in big blisters. During my hunger strike, to forcibly feed me the hospital president, Song Shaohui, slapped my mouth and caused a bleeding cut that was longer than 1 inch. The left side of my face was swollen for more than 10 days, and all of my gums were so sore and swollen that I could not wash my face or open my mouth. They force-fed me twice everyday for 45 days and brutally inserted feeding tubes in my nose more than 80 times.

The preceding events are just a few of many cases. Even under such serious persecution, practitioners still insisted on clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. However, the evil forces of Wanjia Camp do not admit what they have done; they have cut off all communication with the outside and make up fake reports to deceive the public.

Sister, I think we should tell our relatives, friends, and other people about how those demonic officers persecute our practitioners at Wanjia camp. When we tell the truth, we are revealing the evil forces so that all people can distinguish evil from goodness and understand the truth. When people learn who is actually murdering others, this will eliminate their misunderstanding about Dafa. Then they can be saved from being deceived by evil. So, aren't we doing something good? This is what a Dafa disciple should do during this Fa-rectification period, and this is protecting Dafa. I hope you can treasure this opportunity in cultivation, read Master's book more, and read articles on Minghui. Then we can keep up with the Fa-rectification.

Sister, please read more Dafa books and use the time efficiently in clarifying the truth for Dafa. When you expose the evil forces, don't be afraid since we are doing something good. You may have been chosen not be arrested since you can do more when you are free outside. You can go out to validate Dafa and help Master save people. Let's support each other in Fa-study and cultivation, and let's steadily move forward in rectifying the Fa.
