Brooklyn, New York Welcomes Canadian Walkers and Issues another Proclamation to Falun Dafa

As part of the SOS! Global RescueWalk, four practitioners from Ottawa and Montreal started their walk on September 14, 2001. They have now finished their 750-mile journey upon their arrival in New York City. Along the way, they have received all kinds of support from the local governments and people. After reading of the walk in the newspapers, some Americans purchased food and beverages and waited for practitioners by the roadside to express their respect and support.

On November 9, 2001 the walkers attended a press conference in Brooklyn. They told the audience they decided to walk to clarify the truth of Falun Gong and to bring "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" to more people. This was necessary because Jiang Zemin controls all media in China and he uses defamation and lies to hide his evil persecution of Falun Gong to the world.

To express respect for Falun Gong practitioners and support for human rights,November 9, 2001 was proclaimed Falun Dafa Day in Brooklyn. Two practitioners told of their personal experiences of being persecuted in China, and a representative from the Falun Dafa Information Center gave a detailed report on the latest persecution of Falun Gong in China. They called on the Chinese government to immediately end the persecution and encouraged all kind-hearted people, governments, and organizations to lend their helping hands to stop the killing.

About 50 New York practitioners held a group practice during the conference and set up photo exhibitions of "The Path of Fa Rectification."

The walkers are going to hand in their petition letters to the UN on November 14, 2001.
