The Illegal Imprisonment, Brutal Beating, and Extortion of Dafa Practitioners in Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province (Part I)

Wang Wenlan, female, 11-years-old, went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa on July 19, 2000. The young Falun Gong practitioner was later brought back by the police and locked up at Shuangcheng Detention Center for 6 days. The little girl had 170 Yuan extorted from her. [average monthly income in China is 500 Yuan]

Wang Wenhong, female, 10-years-old, went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa on July 19, 2000. She was later brought back by the police and locked up at Shuangcheng City Detention Center for 6 days. The little girl also had 710 Yuan extorted from her as well.

Zhao Jing, female, 13-years-old, went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa on November 9, 2000, and was illegally imprisoned for 7 days. The school authority demanded 1000 Yuan from her family. If her family did not give the money, they would not allow Zhao Jing to attend school. Because her family did not have 1000 Yuan, she could not go to school for a week. During this period, the principal threatened little Zhao Jing, saying that if she did not give the money and write the written statement agreeing to stop practicing Falun Gong, she would not be allowed to go to school. Zhao Jing's young heart was deeply hurt.

Zhao Shuhua, female, was illegally arrested on July 13, 2000, by Shuangcheng "610 office" [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] and locked up at the Shuangcheng City Detention Center. On December 22 of the Chinese Lunar calendar (January 16, 2001), police extorted money from her and she was illegally imprisoned at the brainwashing class that was run by the government. She was released on February 20. However, she was forcefully extorted 2,600 Yuan [the average monthly income in China is 500 Yuan]by Zhang Po, Party Secretary Guan from Shuiquan Town government and Liu Da from Xuguang village.

Li Guangxia, female, was illegally arrested on July 13, 2000, by Shuangcheng's "610 office" and locked up at the Shuangcheng City Detention Center. On December 22 of the Chinese Lunar calendar, police extorted money from her and she was illegally imprisoned at the brainwashing class that was run by the government. She was released on February 20. However, 2,600 Yuan [the average monthly income in China is 500 Yuan]was forcefully extorted from her by Zhang Po, Party Secretary Guan from Shuiquan Town government and Liu Da from Xuguang village.

Xie Lirong, female. On July 13, 2000, she was illegally arrested by Shuangcheng's "610 office" and locked up at the Shuangcheng City Detention Center. On December 22 of the Chinese Lunar calendar, police extorted money from her and she was illegally imprisoned at the brainwashing class that was run by the government. She was released on February 20. However, she was forcefully extorted 2,600 Yuan by Zhang Po, Party Secretary Guan from Shuiquan Town government and Liu Da from Xuguang village.

Chen Shuxia, female, 48-years-old, went to Beijing's Tiananmen Square to appeal for Dafa on October 18, 2000. Plainclothes police in Beijing arrested her. They tried to force her to curse Master Li. After she refused, four or five plainclothes police cruelly beat her with police clubs. She was hit on the head and fell to the ground unconscious. Later she was escorted to the Fangshan District Police Team in Beijing, where she was given no food and not allowed to sleep. After that, she was escorted to Heilongjiang's government liaison office in Beijing. The officer sent her to Shuangcheng's government liaison office in Beijing. Three days later, she was illegally imprisoned at the Shuangcheng Second Detention Center. She was released after 18 days. However, she was forcefully extorted 1,750 Yuan by the Zhoujia Police Station, and 500 Yuan by the Shuangcheng's "610 office." On March 19, 2001, while staying at her younger daughter's home, the police deceived Ms. Chen into going to Zhoujia Police Station to "talk." She was then forcefully escorted to the Second Detention Center and imprisoned for 63 days. After being forcefully extorted 700 Yuan, she was released.

Han Zhimin, female, 27-years-old, went to Beijing's Tiananmen Square to appeal for Dafa on October 18, 2000 and was arrested by plainclothes police officers. They forced her to curse Master Li. After she sternly refused, 4 to 5 plainclothes police brutally beat her with police clubs. Then she was escorted to Fangshan Police Team where she was not given food and was not allowed to sleep. Later, she was escorted to the Heilongjiang government liaison office in Beijing and then to Shuangcheng's government liaison office in Beijing. She was released 14 days later. However, she was forcefully extorted 1,700 Yuan by the Zhoujia police station, and 500 Yuan by Shuangcheng's "610 office."

Meng Xianlong, male, 45-years-old, was arrested and sent to Tiananmen police station for appealing for Dafa at Tiananmen Square. For refusing to tell his address, he was forced to stand still for 14 hours until midnight. He was then driven to a place over 50 kilometers [80 miles] away from Beijing and was pushed out of the car. In August 2000, the town government's lawless official, Li Yueli, confiscated Meng's tape recorder and 300 Yuan.

Li Shuzhen, female, 56-years-old, was illegally imprisoned at the Shuangcheng Detention Center by the city police department at the end of February 2000. There, her hands were handcuffed to another practitioner's feet. She was released in early March. She was illegally fined 5,600 Yuan by the head of the detention center, 1,500 Yuan by the manager of the city commerce bureau, and 1000 Yuan by the head of Zhanqian police station. In January 2000, the officers at the city police department extorted her of another 1000 Yuan.

Wang Qingyun, female, 54-years-old, was illegally imprisoned in February 2000 for 54 days and had 600 Yuan extorted from her for boarding expenses and 2,000 Yuan by the town policemen Zhao Jinguo and Yang Guoqiang. On December 3, 2000, she was deceived into leaving her home and imprisoned at Shuangcheng Detention Center for 7 days. She was extorted over 136 Yuan as boarding expenses, and another 2,100 Yuan by policemen Yang Guoqiang and Wang Lixing from the town police station. Once she went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa, she was escorted to Shuangcheng Detention Center for 7 days and extorted 130 Yuan for boarding expenses.

Zhao Dongmei, female, 32-years-old, went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa on November 2, 2000. She was arrested and imprisoned in Beijing Daxing County Detention Center. Eight days later, she was escorted to Shuangcheng Second Detention Center and imprisoned for 7 days. She had 1,500 Yuan extorted from her and another 800 Yuan for boarding expenses. On December 26 of the Chinese Lunar calendar (January 20, 2001), she was escorted by Yu Hua of Zhoujia police station to Shuangcheng Second Detention Center for no reason. She was illegally imprisoned until March and 2,800 Yuan from her. She was illegally fined another 3,100 Yuan by thug Yu Hua, 3,500 Yuan by Ma Chenglong from the city police department, and 1,600 Yuan by Shuangcheng Second Detention Center.

Hou Liying, female, 43-years-old, went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa on December 24, 2000. Plainclothes police arrested her at the Harbin City train station and escorted her to Beiyuan hotel. She was illegally locked up in one room along with 13 practitioners from other provinces. The next day, Gao Jinpeng and Zhang Zhongcheng took her back to Zhoujia Town. The plainclothes police extorted each detained practitioner 100 Yuan for boarding and tickets. Then, she was escorted by Wang Cong and Xu Shengli from Zhoujia Police Station to Shuangcheng Detention Center and illegally imprisoned for 15 days. She was illegally fined 1000 Yuan by the township government and another 250 Yuan for boarding expenses. She was not allowed to go home if she refused to hand in the money. However, she was not released until she had been illegally detained for another month.

Chen Lihua, male, 47-years-old, went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa on December 24, 2000. He was illegally arrested by Beijing police and imprisoned at Beijing Daxing County Detention Center. After being released during the Spring Festival, the Zhoujia Town Police Station deceived him into going with them and illegally imprisoned him for over one month. He had no personal freedom, as the local government illegally hired some militiamen to watch his house, and he was not allowed to leave. His family's normal life was disrupted. On December 28, 2000, he was extorted 200 Yuan by Wang Shengli from the local liaison office in Beijing, 600 Yuan by Li Weitian from Zhoujia Town government, and 3,000 Yuan by Zhang Zhongcheng from Zhoujia Town government.

Xu Chunlin, male. On New Year's Day, 2001, Zhao Dekuan from Yuejin Village illegally confiscated Xu Chunlin's 28 mo farm [about 5 acres]. Deprived of the land on which he made his living, he was forced to leave town to do some other work in order to survive.

Bai Shuhua, female, 36-years-old, on July 18, 2000, had her train ticket confiscated by the thugs of the police station of Sankeshu City Train Station and was extorted 188 Yuan. On December 20, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. When she returned, she was extorted 1,700 Yuan by Yuejin Village's party secretary.
