Facts About the Kidnapping, Beating, and Extortion of Dafa Practitioners in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Sun Mengjun, male, 37 years old. On July 8, 2001, because of spreading materials that reveal the truth about the persecution, he was illegally arrested and taken to the Haxi Patrolmen's Brigade that evening. The policemen there confiscated all the money he had with him, 950 Yuan (Chinese dollar; the average monthly income of an urban worker is about 500 Yuan). The next morning after 2:00 a.m., Mengjun escaped when the policemen were not paying attention. Now, his name has been put on a police wanted list, and he has been forced to leave home.

Kang Yujing, female, is 47 years old. On January 12, 2000, someone named Chi of the No. 2 Custodial Center of Harbin City extorted 170 Yuan from her. On April 24, 2001, vicious policeman Chen Guozhong, of the No. 2 Custodial Center of Harbin City extorted 400 Yuan from her. The following is an account in Kang Yujing's own words: "On April 24, 2001, I was at home cooking. On the pretext of 'having a talk,' I was taken to the Daoli Branch Police Department. They accused me of passing out a flyer revealing the truth of the persecution. Without any proof or evidence, they sent me to the No. 2 Custodial Center of Harbin City. I started a hunger strike on June 20. On June 25, some villains inhumanly force-fed me. I was force-fed four times in total. On June 29, they thought that I would not pull through. Fearing that I might die inside there, they released me."

Liu Hongtao, male, 31 years old; Zhang Qi, male, 24 years old. On March 1, 2000, policeman Zhang Jinsheng from the Police Station of Harbin City's Cement Plant, imposed a fine of 2000 Yuan. At once he body-searched Liu Hongtao, and confiscated 450 Yuan. Zhang Qi was extorted 400 Yuan, and they were both sentenced to one year of forced labor education.

Changlinzi Detention Center, where Liu Hongtao and Zhang Qi were detained, didn't allow their family members to visit them or give them any articles for daily use. They were mentally abused and physically injured by being made to stand inside a small solitary compartment while being repeatedly tortured. They used electric shock batons, deprived them of their right to use the bathroom, deprived them of sleep, forced them to do hard labor until ten or twelve o'clock at night, forced them to read slanderous articles, forced them to stop eating when they had just started, and so on. Policeman Zhang Jinsheng beat Liu Hongtao and tortured him by putting him on a "Tiger's Bench" (a torture designed to cause pain and injury to the legs) for a long time. Director Shi Changjing of the Police Station recklessly tortured Dafa disciples using various malicious methods.

Sun Lina, female, 41 years old. On May 2, 2000, policemen Zhang Jinsheng and Xu Zhiqiang from the Police Station of Harbin City's Cement Plant jointly extorted 2000 Yuan from her. On November 19, 2000, Taiping Branch Police Department, the City's Police Department, and other units at various levels, jointly extorted 10,000 Yuan from her. Later, in the Police Station of the Cement Plant, she was tortured by being put in an "iron chair" for five hours (a torture in which one is forced to remain seated without moving for a long period of time).

Yin Yuhua, female, 50 years old. On May 2, 2000, Zhang Jinsheng from the Police Station of Harbin City's Cement Plant extorted 2000 Yuan from her. On September 18, 2001, Taiping Branch Police Department and other units at various levels jointly extorted ten thousand Yuan from her. On September 18, 2001 in the Police Station of the Cement Plant, she was tortured by being put in an "iron chair" for four hours.
