American Student: On Tiananmen Square I Witnessed Chinese Police Beating Falun Gong Practitioners
Georgetown University in Washington D.C. is well known for its Departments of
Languages, International Relations and Foreign Affairs.
On October 27, 2001 Falun Gong practitioners hosted an event on campus to
promote Dafa. Right after we finished setting up our Dafa banners and posters, a
group of students walked by. Chris, an American student, pointed to our posters
and told his friends that he was an eye-witness of the persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners at Tiananmen Square. He said, "It was at Tiananmen Square
that I first encountered Falun Gong. At that time I was an exchange student in
China. My friends and I were taking photos at Tiananmen Square. We saw some
Falun Gong practitioners raise their banners quietly and peacefully. The Chinese
police immediately jumped on them, punching and kicking, then dragged them into
police vans and to the police station. My two friends took some pictures of
police beating practitioners, but the film was confiscated. Both of them were
also detained."
One student from China watched our practice for a long time. He told us that
he knew nothing about Falun Gong before the persecution, and after that, all he
learned was from Chinese government propaganda. As a science researcher, he
believes any matter has two sides. He wanted to find out why there are so many
people practicing Falun Gong and what benefits Falun Gong can bring to people.
He is so happy that he came to America and has his chance to learn the truth.
