Fa-Rectification Disciples Need to be Aware of the Situation as a Whole

Practitioners doing Falun Dafa work in our area have encountered some difficulties. For example, different groups can both do very good work independently, but cooperation between them is bad. With the issue of security in mind, some jobs could have been handled better; however, practitioners were blocked by their notions of self. Or, practitioners failed to correctly position themselves and thus failed to have a good understanding of what they were doing. They then became unclear about what they should and shouldn't do. For example, it would have been much better if the practitioners responsible for taking care of the printers and copy machines did not contact or share experiences with many people. However, some practitioners didn't pay enough attention to this issue and in the end the police found the printing and copying facility and confiscated the machines. This caused the loss of a source by which many people could have received truth-clarifying materials. I think the reason for this misfortune was that some practitioners had not let go of their notions of self, so they didn't view the situation as a whole. Thus, they failed to realize the overall requirements for themselves.

As practitioners, we shouldn't try to arrange our cultivation path ourselves. We shouldn't do whatever we want to do. We need to consider the situation as a whole. Teacher said, "Get rid of any attachment you might have, and don't think about [such] things. Just do everything a Dafa disciple should do, and everything will be covered."(From Teacher's lecture on the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Conference) I came to understand that as Fa-rectification disciples, if we are unable to start out by viewing the overall picture when we encounter problems, we will to some extent be trapped in our notions of self and be involved in self-cultivation rather than be part of the Fa-rectification process. Also, "self" or "selfishness" can manifest simply by focusing on "ourselves," "our group" or "our area", etc. However, "getting rid of any attachment" includes getting rid of our notions of self and considering the situation for the sake of the whole. We will suffer much fewer losses if we can get rid of our notions of self, view ourselves as an integral part of the whole and understand from a broader perspective what it means to be real Fa-rectification disciples.

Teacher said, "If you are still unclear about what Fa-rectification disciples are, you won't be able to step forward in the current tribulation..." (From Teacher's article "Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples") Are we Fa-rectification disciples simply because we are doing Fa-rectification work? Not necessarily, I think. Fa-rectification disciples need to understand their responsibilities in a larger scope and from a broader perspective. Only this way, can we do a good job in our duties.

I think that we can melt into Fa-rectification and fulfill our Fa-rectification disciples' duties if we will let go of our notions of self, consider the needs of others and the needs of the overall Fa-rectification, and be responsible for the whole process. Of course, being responsible for the whole process doesn't mean trying to take care of everything or impose our own opinions on others.
