(Clearwisdom.net) The present state of today's humankind is formed by countless tragic but magnificent historic stories that are little known to humankind.

In an era a long time ago, in the immense colossal firmament, the lords and kings of cosmic systems at different levels -- out of compassion for sentient beings and in order to attain the Fa at this moment in time when the Fa rectifies the cosmos and thereby save the beings that they represent -- fully experienced the hardships of history and endured disgrace and dishonor by coming down to the human world. Upon entering the three realms they became lost in the mortal world, and exhaustively suffered the mistreatment of low-level beings in the three realms, and in order to survive, they also created innumerable quantities of karma. Many were high lords, divine and holy Fa kings that confronted danger in the three realms and the human world, hoping to attain the Fa. Finally in this lifetime, they reincarnated in the eastern land of China at a time when Dafa is being widely spread. Their lives and futures directly affect many cosmic systems and the future of those sentient beings in the universe.

Nevertheless, from a long time ago, the old forces of the universe, out of only consideration for themselves, made plans at each level. From May of 1992 to the beginning of 1999, in these seven short years, cultivators of Falun Dafa reached one hundred million, and because the numbers were continuing to increase rapidly, in July of 1999 the evil forces began a comprehensive persecution targeting Falun Dafa. The destiny of those new students that just began practicing and many people with great inborn quality that had not yet attained the Fa took a serious turn.

"People haven't come to this human world for nothing," "Actually, people have been waiting for the Fa." (Reference 1) "All those sentient beings" that have thoroughly suffered the hardships of history and reincarnated in the land of China, from July 1999, not only because the evil old forces have obstructed them and they are not able to become Fa-rectification disciples, but due to serous poisoning from the lies spread by the evil forces, they have become hostile towards the truth of the universe, and even look upon Dafa and Dafa disciples with hatred. In Mainland China, more than a billion sentient beings have been placed in an extremely dangerous situation.

In Fa-rectification, Master treasures every single life, and silently bears the karma created from the degeneration of human beings in the course of history, painfully saving everyone that can be saved.

This time the Fa rectifies the cosmos, and it is a great event that has never occurred before in the entire history of the immense firmament. During this special period in history, the standards for measuring good and bad lives are also very unique. All lives in the cosmos are originated and created by the Fa. For an individual life, no matter how good or bad this life has been in ordinary human society, and no matter how enormous the karma it has generated, as long as this life does not damage Dafa or is able to have clear minded righteous thoughts towards Dafa in a timely manner, then this life can be rescued and in the future may even have the opportunity to be saved. But, "In the midst of the overwhelming, vicious propaganda, what those people have committed are no longer ordinary sins. Some of them are fated for destruction--regardless of where they came from, and regardless of what kind of predestined relationship they have or how high their levels were. Isn't it truly a pity for this to happen to a being?" (Reference 2)

Because of this, make the best use of time, and through every channel at various levels, use every effective method to deeply and meticulously clarify the truth to Chinese people and help Chinese people come to understand Dafa in a positive way. The significance of this is unparalleled. For all of the Fa-rectification disciples who have already been fortunate enough to attain the Fa, this has become an urgent responsibility to which we are duty-bound in our mission of helping Master in Fa-rectification.

At the same time, it is extremely important to do all of this well by rationally and wisely using methods that can be easily understood and accepted by others. This is not just an expression of Dafa disciples' compassion towards sentient beings and pure benevolent thoughts, but it also affects whether or not that life will truly be able to be saved or not.

(Clearwisdom.net) In the process of Fa-rectification, some old forces hold fast to their own arrangements which deviate from the characteristic of the universe. They interfere with Fa-rectification, and manipulate people to oppose and persecute Dafa and Dafa disciples. What our Dafa disciples cultivate is the righteous Fa, and we should be like the Buddhas, Daos, and Gods of the universe by being responsible for every righteous element in the universe. Therefore when dealing with the evil that damages Fa-rectification, we must resolutely and thoroughly eliminate it. Master said, "Eliminating evil is thus doing Fa-rectification, and is also saving the world's people and sentient beings" ("Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful"). Actually, eliminating evil is also being compassionate towards lives that have become corrupt to the point that they are no longer savable.

The arrangement for Fa-rectification is very well ordered. What it currently requires us to clear out are the beings that have taken part in damaging Dafa. As for some other beings, although they have become quite bad or even extremely evil, as long as they are not currently taking part in damaging Dafa, they are not the ones that we need clear out during this Fa-rectification period. That will be an issue to be resolved in the future when the Fa rectifies the human world.

Dafa disciples' elimination of evil is entirely out of pure benevolence; it is out of being responsible for the Fa, sentient beings, and one's own cultivation. Recently a small number of students has treated all the conflicts and obstacles met within life and society as demons, and have sent out thoughts to clear them out. In doing this, though, they have neglected the important aspect in individual cultivation that one must look inside and improve one's xinxing. This type of mentality not only can be easily taken advantage of by demons and has the effect of damaging Dafa's reputation, but also directly interferes with the well ordered arrangement for Fa-rectification. When the issue of sending forth righteous thoughts was discussed for the first time during the lecture in Canada in 2001, Master seriously told us, "But if you use this for something a cultivator shouldn't do, it won't work; as soon as the thought arises, retribution will follow or your level will drop."

The steps we take in Fa-rectification may all become references for the future. Because of this, Dafa disciples must maintain clear-headedness, understand the Fa from within the Fa, use righteous and benevolent thoughts to treat everything, and have compassion for sentient beings.

Recently, at 10.00 pm (10.00 am in China), a few western practitioners from Washington DC made direct phone calls to the offices of criminal government officials and vicious police officers who are responsible for torturing or beating to death practitioners.

One westerner who is able to speak Chinese said:

I called up and the man said "Wei? (Hello)"

I replied, "Hello, can I speak with Mr. Tang?" (Mr. Tang is a county secretary)

The person on the phone replied, "He's not here."

I asked him, "Can you speak English?"

"No, I can't."

"Ok, I just want to tell you that Falun Gong is good. I am an American. I practice Falun Gong. America knows that Falun Gong is good."

(Two, three seconds of silence. Then In English) "He's not here."

I think he hung up, but I said "Thank you, goodbye (in Chinese)" anyway.

Another practitioner called the Qu County police department and asked if he could speak to a police officer who knows English. The officer on the other end replied that he could speak English. The practitioner said to him: "We know what you have done to Falun Dafa practitioners. Your name is internationally recorded and you will be brought to justice!" Silence for a moment, then: "From where are you calling! From where are you calling!" -- "I am calling from the United States. Stop killing Falun Dafa practitioners!" The conversation was then suddenly finished.

What we have realized is that the evil people fear nothing more than their own fear. It is the fear of having the light of truth shine on their inhumane, cruel "state secrets." It must be hard for these vicious people who are used to having total control when doling out pain and suffering, that they can't reach us and are not able to force us to be "silent." And it must be hard for them to realize that Falun Gong is not persecuted in the rest of the world.

We hope by our efforts to reduce the enormous pressure on our fellow practitioners in Mainland China a little bit. Two exposed vicious officials now have to live in fear of serious retribution by justice, and maybe they will think twice before they continue with their beating and torturing.

For the next time, we have asked our local Chinese practitioners to translate our own English sentences and ideas into Chinese. They will teach us how to speak them out before calling. (The Chinese officers will hear for sure that we are foreigners.)

And our Chinese fellow practitioners will help us also to establish a telephone communications with high-ranking party officials, prison chiefs, and police supervisors.

1. How to start: Most people tend to believe the government-controlled media reports. It is often easy to start a conversation with these people as follows: I say, "Jiang Zemin's evil organization started to persecute Falun Gong in July of 1999. However, do you know that China's National Sports Association sent representatives to Changchun and Harbin to investigate Falun Gong before that? After their investigation, the government recognized the goodness of Falun Gong. We have taped evidence. During the national awards to good and brave people in 1993, the National Sports Association hosted the event and even invited our Teacher to treat diseases for their representatives. Falun Gong thus received much positive recognition. The People's Public Safety News reported the event on September 21, 1993. The Medicine and Health News published the article, "Falun Gong has the most beneficial effect for people to get well and get fit." There are many more examples. Please note that the above news was reported before Jiang's regime started to persecute Falun Gong. In other words, the positive reports were made when the media was under no pressure to report otherwise. The negative reports began only after the persecution. In China's current situation, which reports do you think are accurate?" I found that if I start a conversation this way, the results are often very good.

2. Many people comment, "Just do your exercises. Stop trying to make trouble." I often reply, "Please consider the following example. What if you were seriously ill and although you'd spent a fortune on all kinds of treatments, you still hadn't gotten better? One day, someone cured your illness without charging you anything. Wouldn't you be truly thankful to this person? As a good natured human being, if someone suddenly started to bad-mouth the person who helped you, wouldn't you try to reason with the one spreading the bad words? If that same person who cured you also cured many other people, wouldn't they stand up to speak for him as well? Now do you really think that these people are looking for trouble?" At this point in the conversation, most people are able to agree with me. It is then easier to continue to clarify the truth in other aspects.

(Clearwisdom.net) Presently, many family members of Falun Gong practitioners in China have a misunderstanding about Falun Gong. Some know that Dafa is good, but because they are not familiar with the law, they cannot face the police with assurance and boldness. Below is a letter written by a Dafa practitioner's husband to another practitioner's husband, encouraging him to go to the forced labor camp and request the release of his wife who has been illegally detained. If everyone resists the evil persecution, then Jiang's regime cannot continue their evil deeds.

Greetings!

We are not acquainted with each other, but we have one thing in common --- we are both family members of Falun Gong practitioners. Over the past two years, during which slanderous propaganda has overshadowed the sky, you and I as well as tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been enduring inhumane torture. As family members, the pressure and attacks we have suffered, in certain aspects, have surpassed those of the practitioners themselves. One by one, innocent practitioners have been arrested and put into jail. The hardships they have been suffering are beyond words. In order to avoid the suffering, I thought of divorce, but when I looked at my child beside me, who cried daily because she missed her mother, my heart softened. The love of one's mother cannot be replaced. Although still a child, my daughter will become an adult someday, and as an adult, she would not forgive me if I abandoned her innocent mother. Our child is the fruit of our love, and the continuation of our lives as well. Thus, I experienced several sleepless nights while in the process of giving up this idea.

I have carefully studied some laws and rules related to the issue concerning the treatment of practitioners of Falun Gong. The 36^th item of the Constitution states, "Citizens have the freedom of belief"; the Constitution also clearly stipulates, "Citizens have the freedom to appeal." I also remember that the 98^th item of the General Rule of the Civil Law states that "Citizens have the right to improve their health", etc. Therefore, according to the Constitution, all practitioners are innocent. Furthermore, even criminals given the death penalty have the right to appeal, and can ask an attorney to defend them.

Even if the authorities had reason to persecute Falun Gong, why don't they follow the lawful process? Instead, they adopt illegal means, such as breaking into apartments during the middle of the night and arresting practitioners without showing any certificate, and showing no restraint in their behavior. Furthermore, they deceive practitioners into going to their workplaces or somewhere else by telling them they just want to have a talk with them, but then secretly arrest them instead. More inexplicable is the fact that, after July 22, 1999, they actually issued the order stating that no lawyers are allowed to defend Falun Gong practitioners. Thus, in the entire country, they can arrest anyone they want, make any accusations they like, and detain the practitioners as long as they wish. They arbitrarily prolong the prison terms, and impose whatever fines choose. They will also detain practitioners indefinitely. They call it "suicide" when they beat a practitioner to death. Although I have not received much education, I'm not stupid. What is all of this? Are these things normal? Is there any national law? As for these practitioners, they only practice Falun Gong to improve their health. What crime is this? Some practitioners have been illegally detained for practicing Falun Gong. They have had fines imposed on them, but have nowhere to appeal. Their only resort is to go to Beijing to appeal, and to ask for justice. But they are arrested and sent back to their hometowns, illegally sentenced to prison, or subjected to forced education in labor camps for "disturbing the security of society." If it is wrong to appeal, why would the government set up the Appeals Bureau? Isn't this self-contradictory?

The onslaught of propaganda in the daily TV and radio broadcasts caused me to remember the ten-year "Cultural Revolution." At that time, there were numerous reports that Liu Shaoqi was a traitor and a secret enemy agent. It was said that there was testimony of witnesses and material evidence as well. But after the Cultural Revolution, people understood that all of these things were propaganda intended to frame him. History is a like a mirror.

No one will know better than we whether our relatives are good or bad. Although we may not fully understand what they are doing, there is one thing we must be clear about: they are good people. They have not violated any law at all! Cultivating Falun Gong is at most an issue of belief. The practitioners should not be sent to jails, and even less, made to suffer brutal torture. (It is said that in some prisons, some female practitioners who refused to write the "guarantee to not practice Falun Gong" were stripped naked and forced into the cells of male criminals.) Is this what the people's police are supposed to do under the direction of the XX party? What beastly bullies! Upon hearing this kind of news, could you still be thought a man if you were aloof and indifferent? Don't forget: To ignore the evil is to betray the goodness!

Upon understanding the facts, I could not sit still any more and decided to go immediately to visit my wife. The first time, I was not allowed to see her. I was told that she was confined in a solitary compartment (Note: these are extremely small cells that are 2 feet square and 5 feet high. Persons cannot sit down or stand up comfortably and are usually handcuffed) because she firmly insisted on her belief in Falun Gong. I was irritated and stated in front of them that my wife was innocent but has to endure illegal torture. I told them I would sue them for their violations of human rights, and trampling on national law. I constantly visited them, asked to see my wife and demanded that they release my wife. Thus, after a period of time, my wife was released but she had been tortured extremely badly, even beyond recognition. But the point is, I won! After all, it was me who got her out of jail.

My dear fellows, please listen to me, go to visit your wives! They all are good people, but they are suffering inhumane torture. Their determination and character are known by heaven and earth, and are highly appraised! Even if we are extremely unsatisfied, we cannot add one disaster after another at this time. We cannot let people condemn us and think that we cannot distinguish good from bad, and that we have no affection nor sense of justice. I heard that Wanjia Labor Camp has changed recently. As long as the family members strongly demand that they release the practitioners, basically, they will be freed. More than ten practitioners have been released from Acheng. You can contact them.

Don't be afraid! Our wives are not afraid in the presence of weapons; what should we, the real men, fear?

1. A Just Supervisor of a Company

A city has set up an evil brainwashing class and many practitioners have been persecuted by being sent there. An evil administration officer forced a supervisor of a company to send a practitioner to the brainwashing class. This supervisor adamantly refused, "If you want to arrest people, please show me a document with the red stamp! (an official warrant)." The evil one had no word of reply (in fact, the matter had gone through no lawful procedure), so he gave up.

2. Domestic Harmony

A practitioner's wife does not practice Dafa but she is very kind. She respects her husband's beliefs and helps him organize truth-clarifying materials. One day, the practitioner said, "If one day I am in bad luck and am arrested and imprisoned, you can do whatever you want to do." His wife replied, "If you are in prison for your belief, I will wait for you." The practitioner was very encouraged by this and has worked even harder to clarify the truth.

3. A Single Word Exposes the Truth

Somebody on the train told me that a friend of his, who is a policeman in the Jilin Province Police Department, told him about something that happened in the detention center. One day, a detained practitioner was clarifying the truth and trying to persuade two policemen to be more benevolent. One policeman did not make his stand public. The other policeman replied viciously, "I don't believe what you just said, I'll curse and see what will happen." As a result, this policeman received retribution, could not talk, and so could not go to work. Finally his policeman friend told him, "Don't slander Buddha Law! You will receive retribution if you do bad things."

When a practitioner was clarifying the truth to policemen, he asked, "Have you heard that during the anti-persecution, there are practitioners still alive after being on a hunger strike and without food for over 20 days? The policemen replied, "Yes." The practitioner continued and asked, "Why?" The policemen could not answer. The practitioner asked again, "Have you heard that policemen who have persecuted Dafa practitioners have suddenly had all kinds of diseases from which they died, and that some of them died from accidents such as car accidents?" The policemen replied, "Yes." The practitioner persisted by asking, "Why?" The policemen did not say anything. The practitioner said, "This is 'Good is rewarded with good and evil brings evil', it is the emergence of Dafa's dignity." One policeman said with some fear, "Please tell your Master that I did not treat you badly."

(Clearwisdom.net) Two fellow practitioners (a married couple) decided to visit their family in China and to use the opportunity to clarify the truth to their family and friends.

I was very excited by the news and told my husband about it right after I put down the phone. My husband is German and a non-practitioner, but he knows about all the malicious crimes committed by Jiang Zemin and his regime. He immediately asked me to call the fellow practitioners and tell them to be careful in China and to avoid being arrested. I said to him, "If they get arrested, I'll immediately notify all of the other practitioners that I know in order to request their release at the Chinese consulate in Berlin. I won't return home as long as they're detained." "Would other practitioners do the same if you were arrested?" my husband asked. "Of course! I don't believe any excuse the Chinese government devises in order to arrest practitioners. We would absolutely never do anything bad!"

My husband didn't answer for a long time. When I turned to look at him, I saw that he had shed tears. After calming himself down, he said, (obviously deeply moved), "Only you Falun Gong people can do this! I've never seen anyone who can treat his friend with such sincerity."

That's right. Dafa practitioners assist Teacher to rectify the Fa and they have [only] Dafa in their hearts. They safeguard Dafa and together cultivate the fundamental law of the universe and are all Master Buddha's disciples. All of us are taking responsibility for the righteous elements in the cosmos, so how could the relationship between practitioners be like that among ordinary people?

BBC Monitoring

Ottawa, 29 November: Two Canadians who took part in a peaceful protest in Tiananmen Square 20 November said Thursday [29 November] that the mainland Chinese authorities, and not the 30-odd foreign petitioners, broke the law and violated the country's constitution as well as several international treaties.

Zenon Dolnyckyj and Joel Chipkar held a press conference on Parliament Hill in Ottawa during which Chipkar distributed to the media film footage he shot of the Western Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful appeal in the heart of Beijing. They said that all of the practitioners were roughed up by police before being deported.

Along with Member of Parliament Scott Reid, the two Canadians condemned the mainland Chinese regime's violence against the 35 Westerners who made an appeal on the part of their fellow mainland Chinese practitioners. Beijing has outlawed the Falun Gong.

Chipkar said that mainland Chinese practitioners have not been breaking any laws. "What they have done is within the Chinese constitution, and within the international treaties that China has signed. If a Canadian (had) traveled to Nazi Germany in 1940 to peacefully appeal for the rights and lives of the Jewish people, he would have been considered a hero today by his country and the world," he noted.

However, Dolnyckyj said, because of the appeal he made in Tiananmen Square, the mainland Chinese police "broke my nose, detained and interrogated me, and beat and molested other (Western) practitioners in custody." "It is the mainland Chinese authorities who broke the law and violated their own Constitution when they stopped our legal appeal and beat a Canadian and other foreigners," Dolnyckyj said, adding that "if they treat foreigners this way, how do they treat their own people in labour camps?" Reid said "China has to accept a movement such as Falun Gong" because the People's Republic of China Constitution requires it and because international conventions mainland China has signed require it.

"And it has obligation to respect foreigners who come to China to engage in peaceful activities," he added.

(Clearwisdom.net) After being illegally detained at the Baimiao Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, Shan Yongshun, a male Dafa practitioner, 56, suffered brutal torture. On Oct 19, 2001, Shan was sent to Zhengzhou Air Force Hospital, and even though his condition was listed as very critical, his treatment was delayed. As a result, he died.

The perpetrators persecuting Dafa practitioners should remember that good is rewarded with good and evil will receive just retribution.

Fellow practitioner Yuan Jing, 29 year old, was a kindhearted person and a good assistance center volunteer in Gansu province. Sadly, in the same area where he once diligently clarified the truth to others and helped others learn Dafa, he was tortured to death by police. The news of his passing shocked thousands of benevolent hearts in Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, and Xinjiang Province. An old couple (both practitioners) were so sorrowful that they cried for an entire day. However, this brutal killing only served to inspire many others to hold more affirmative activities instead of withdrawing and becoming depressed. It is said that after Yuan Jiang's death, the need for truth-clarifying materials doubled in the above 4 provinces; most likely much to the surprise of the perpetrators who killed him.

Before his cultivation of Dafa, Yuan Jiang suffered from many diseases. He even had to suspend his schooling for a year because of his poor health condition. However, he had a deep predestined relationship with Dafa, and participated in 4 of Teacher's classes. Ever since he started to learn Dafa, he experienced great changes in his body and mind.

Yuan was very busy with his work. He often worked overtime and traveled out of town. Yet he persisted in his practice of the exercises and studied Dafa every day. In an experience sharing conference, he said that he studied the Fa for 5 to 6 hours every day, using his lunch breaks and time at night. Also, whenever he had time, he always participated in group study and group practice.

Between 1998 and 1999, the number of practitioners in Northwest China grew very rapidly. As a result, Dafa books and materials were in short supply. Yuan Jiang often used his own salary to buy books from other regions and then mailed them out to practitioners. The demand for videotapes of Teacher's lectures exceeded supply all the time, so Yuan bought several hundred tapes with his savings and sent them out to practitioners who needed them. Whenever a new practice site was formed, Yuan always used his own money to rent a room so those new practitioners could watch Teacher's 9-day lecture videotapes.

Right before July 20, 1999, the situation was getting worse, like dark clouds gathering before a storm. Within and outside of Gansu province, there were many cases in which the media was increasing its slandering and smears against Dafa. At the same time, many practice sites were harassed and many practitioners were beaten and abused, while Dafa banners and books were confiscated. In private, Yuan Jiang's unit manager "persuaded" him, and the police threatened him. Yet Yuan did not abide by their requests. Instead, he stepped forward and acted as the "representative" of the local practitioners and appealed many times to government offices. In July 1998, when some newspapers slandered Dafa, Yuan moved and inspired the people involved with his compassion and benevolence, so that these people had a better sense of their public morality. They admitted their mistakes in public and wrote letters apologizing to Dafa practitioners.

According to people who know the inside story, after Yuan Jiang was arrested, the police tried to extort his confession by torturing him. The perpetrators used all of their torturing instruments and tortured Yuan for two months straight. Having a firm belief in Dafa, Yuan tried to wake up the wicked people's consciences with his own blood and life. However, the wicked perpetrators grew even more savage in their methods of torture: they hung Yuan up in the air with his 4 limbs stretched apart and beat him up viciously. Finally, seeing that Yuan was on the verge of death, the persecutors set him down. Knowing that the wicked people could not be saved, Yuan took off his handcuffs and shackles with his strong righteous thoughts and escaped from this devil's den. Because of the beatings he had suffered, wounds covered his body. And because of the hunger strike he had undertaken, Yuan Jiang was extremely weak. In the cold mountain wilderness, he used all of his strength and climbed into a cave, where he remained unconscious for 4 days and 4 nights.

During this time, the wicked people mobilized a force of three thousand police staff and searched extensively for him. They checked and examined people at every major roadway, railroad and bus station. In addition, almost all the practitioners' homes in Lanzhou City were rummaged through. The massive manhunt was even extended to nearby cities and counties. Some practitioners' home doors were pried open, and a practitioner in his/her 60's jumped from the 4^th floor while trying to escape and broke his/her back and legs. According to reliable sources, the perpetrators secretly kidnapped and detained all the people who had helped Yuan Jiang, including Yu Tingfang and her 4 daughters. Here we strongly call for the human rights department of the United Nations and all the kind-hearted people in the world to pay close attention to this case in an effort to rescue the kidnapped practitioners and innocent people, so that the lunatic police cannot kill these witnesses.

For thousands of years, the Chinese people believed in the principle "Good is rewarded with good, and evil is met with evil", and "One can not violate heavenly principles." Since the persecution started in July 1999 by Jiang Zemin and his associates, it has been verified that 10 Dafa practitioners in Gansu Province have died for protecting the truth of the cosmos: Yao Baorong, Li Faming, Yin Yongjiang, Liu Lanxiang, Song Yanzhao, Zhang Fengyun, Yuan Jiang, Liu Junming, and Huang Xinjin. Thousands of other innocent Falun Gong practitioners were illegally detained or sent to forced labor camps and tortured. They were heavily fined and their homes ransacked, and many were forced to leave their homes and wander about.

People who remain emotionless to this state terrorism are actually acquiescing in the brutal torture and killing. They will either become the next victims of the persecution or be buried with the evil when the retributions come.

I am an over 60-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner who was just released from Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin. I want to expose what I know about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners there.

Since Falun Dafa was banned on July 20, 2001, my husband and I have gone to Beijing several times in order to validate Dafa. We did not have any opportunity to appeal for Falun Gong; instead, they would arrest us and send us into detention. I had no other choice but to go to Tiananmen Square to unfurl a banner. The police arrested me and sent me back to my hometown for detention. On January 4, 2001, they sent me to Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin for 1 year. In this way, an elderly woman like myself was persecuted just for going to Beijing to clarify the truth.

In order to force practitioners to give up practicing Falun Gong, the guards used all kinds of torture methods. They did not allow us to do the exercises or read Falun Gong books. I was bruised all over my body from beatings and had difficulty breathing from blows to my chest--just because I did the exercises.

In February 2001, some female practitioners were reciting words from Falun Dafa books and they received vicious beatings from male policemen. Many evil policemen punched, kicked, and beat us with wooden batons aimlessly without any concern for our lives. One of my ribs was fractured from the beating, which was unbearably painful. Practitioners who dared to speak would be punished by having their mouths taped and not being allowed to use the toilet. They only gave us one bowl of thin rice soup a day. One practitioner's face was so swollen that her eyes were not visible.

At midnight of June 18, 2001, I heard frightening cries, beating, and cursing from the first floor. We did not know what was happening since we were on the second floor. However, one practitioner, who had supernormal abilities, saw that some one was beaten to death on the first floor. The wicked police later found out that she knew this. In order to eliminate the evidence, they brought her a good meal with four dishes and rice. Just as she was about to eat it, she heard an inner voice speaking to her, "You can't eat that, the food is poisoned." She told the guards around her, "I can't eat this much. Let's eat together." None of the guards dared to eat and she did not eat either. I do not know what method they used to persecute this practitioner, but I have never seen her since.

We later found out what happened downstairs. The corrupt guards attempted to force Falun Dafa practitioners to sign six "guarantees" and the practitioners refused to cooperate with them. They then followed Jiang Zemin's order (beating to death is considered suicide) to beat them to death. Since "No one will be held accountable for beating people (practitioners) to death," some practitioners were brutally killed. Around 2 a.m. the next day, the police took all practitioners, whether dead or alive, to a secret chamber and pretended as if nothing happened.

When practitioners refused to comply with police orders, they would be forced to stand under the hot sun. For practicing the exercises, the practitioners were tied to iron beds, forced to stand for a long time and not allowed to sleep or use the toilet. The incidents of torture are countless. In order to protest the illegal detention and torture, more than 200 practitioners went on a hunger strike for more than 30 days. The evil guards locked us in cells that were very humid, damp, and with no sunshine. Every practitioner developed scabies, which caused unbearable itching. It was so severe for some practitioners that they were unable to take care of themselves independently. Even under these circumstances, practitioners were still clarifying the truth to the guards with great benevolence and forbearance in their hearts: "Falun Dafa is the great Law of the universe. Persecuting Falun Dafa and practitioners is not good for you. We hope that your kind side awakens and you will stop creating huge karma for yourselves. As long as your lives can be saved, we are willing to endure any pain." Some police finally awakened.

Later, in order to obtain an environment for practicing the exercises and study the Fa, I started to do the sitting meditation in my cell. The head of the cell initially tried to use all of her strength to pull my legs down from the meditation position, but failed. She then reported me to the guards. Three main officials of the labor camp all came. They tried to pull my legs down and failed again. I told them, "Dafa gave me my life. I will not exist without Dafa. I will practice the exercises as long as I live." They ran out of ideas and told the head, "Then let her sit like this for one day and do not allow her to uncross her legs." They left. I did not listen to them and uncrossed my legs after I had finished more than two hours of meditation. This is the environment created by Falun Dafa practitioners with their lives.

This took place at the Nanmusi Women's Labor Camp in Zizhong City, Sichuan Province. Even when facing kind people who are "beaten without hitting back and slandered without cursing back," the policemen, still tortured them inhumanly and used high-voltage electric batons, police-sticks, handcuffs, rope, and their own fists and feet in order to brutally beat practitioners. In the summer, the ruffians locked twenty of us in one cell and didn't allow us to sleep, take a shower or brush our teeth. We were forced to eat and excrete in the same cell, which made the cell even hotter, dirtier, and stuffier. Jail guard, Luo, from the No. 5 team often released her evil nature. She shocked practitioners with an electric baton, beat and cursed at us and even instigated prisoners to beat us. Some practitioners were tortured so badly that they lost consciousness. During the hot summer, we were exposed under the hot sun in a half-squatted down position every day from 7 o'clock in the morning till midnight. Most practitioners got scabies, which were unbearably itchy. If they moved even slightly, they would be beaten until they were bleeding. Scars could be found all over their bodies. Some practitioners were forced to stand still and squat on their heels for a long period of time, until they fainted and lost control of their bowels and bladder.

Vicious policemen even stripped off all clothing of female practitioners in public, in order to show off their power. These policemen were committing crimes that even criminals couldn't match. When jail guard, Luo, beat us, we told her: "You're breaking the law while executing the law. It's a crime to beat good people." She shamelessly replied that: "The people that I am going to beat are the good people like you. What can you do?" This policewoman's heart was so degenerated that she appeared extremely evil. Her mentality and main consciousness were completely lost, causing her to look deplorable and pitiful. Although we were trapped in that evil place, suffering all kinds of physical and mental torture, we did not stop telling the vicious and degenerate police and prisoners about our cultivation experiences. Many prisoners did not want to beat practitioners any more, and some even wanted to learn Falun Gong. But if they refused, these prisoners would have been punished by the guards and their terms would have been extended. There was one prisoner who did not have a quilt and she could not fall asleep at night. We wanted to give her our quilt, but the jail guard, Luo, forbade it. The prisoners all said: "Why are the good people like you being detained here? We will find Zhuan Falun to read after we are released."

When I was badly beaten by jail guards, there were some moments that my consciousness and mentality became abnormal. I deviated from my cultivation path and felt dizzy all the time. This was what the evil force arranged in order to destroy me. Therefore, I shouted as loud as I could, "I do not want to be destroyed!" My true self was released and awakened after fulfilling the jail term. Our benevolent Teacher is waiting for me so that I don't fall behind. Our Great Teacher is saving me again, and I must cherish this opportunity that only comes once in thousands and thousands of years. I must make up for the mistakes I have made, and immerse myself completely into the Fa rectification process. Clarify the truth of Falun Gong to the public, expose and eliminate the evil that want to destroy all beings, and offer salvation to people.

In early October 2001, with compassionate hearts, a male and a female practitioner went to Liumao Mine of Jixi City to distribute truth-clarifying flyers. After they finished and were about to return, policemen found them. Zuo Shuwei and several other policemen chased after them in a police car. In the escape, the female practitioner was arrested. As the police could not catch the male practitioner, they opened fire and shot three bullets towards him. The bullets flew past him. He kept sending forth righteous thoughts while running. In the end, he successfully escaped from the frenzied chase.

On July 25, 2000, practitioner Wang Yao's father, Wang Mingli, was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp because he went to appeal in Beijing in 2000. Now he is still illegally detained in the Weizigou Labor Camp in Changchun City. His release is three months overdue, yet he is still detained. He has been inhumanely tortured while in detention.

On October 27, 2001, Wang Yao's mother, Yin Yanli, was kidnapped and has not been able to return home. There is no one else in the family to take care of the grandmother and Wang Yao. Wang Yao does not have any means of income, and both their lives are extremely difficult.

The vicious policemen in the Wanjia Labor Camp locked up those determined practitioners who did not sign the guarantee statement in solitary confinement cells and and hung them up by handcuffs. Practitioners who recently suffered the ordeal include Zhang Shuqin, Jiang Lihua, Yang Lixia, Sun Yizhi, Fangfang, Ma Bingjuan, Jiang Lianying, Luu Huiwen, Ma Xinying, Ma Jinying, Wang Shurong, Mu Yankun.

On the morning of June 18, 2001, a meeting was held on the second floor of the Wanjia Labor Camp to extended detention terms. Ten practitioners from Unit No.7 had their terms extended, and I was one of them. My detention term was extended by one year.

All the practitioners whose terms had been extended were escorted into the meeting room, being sandwiched between a male and a female police officer. Every policeman had an electric baton attached to his waist. When they announced my name, they made a mistake. Because some policemen were slandering our Teacher and Dafa at the meeting, after I corrected their mistake, I said, "Falun Dafa is the Righteous Fa." Immediately, a male policeman covered my mouth with his hand and pushed me to the entrance of the second floor. He punched my face fiercely with his fists. Both of my eyes were swollen and bleeding, and were covered with bruises. My nose and mouth were bleeding too. He struck my "tailbone" using his knee. As a result, I could not sit for over a month. Practitioner Zhang Guirong who was present shouted, "Police should not beat people." Li, a male police officer dragged me head over heels to the first floor where there was no one around and beat me up. He then locked me up in solitary confinement, and said ferociously, "I could break your bones with a little more force." This is my experience of being beaten by the police.

Though the city is small, in the last month or so, many fellow practitioners have stepped away from the restraints of their human mentality and notions and have been going to Tiananmen Square to validate Dafa. This has not only helped the local practitioners improve quickly as one body, but also saved a lot of sentient beings. Until now, most of them have safely returned and have once again thrown themselves into the current of Fa-rectification. Only a very few of them fell into the evil hands (of the police). They have since been escorted back to the city and put under long-term illegal detention. We have come to the understanding that our stepping forward must be based on the Fa, and must be with a pure heart. Some fellow practitioners who had been arrested completely denied the arrangements of the old forces and refused to cooperate with the evil even under vicious persecution. They went on hunger strike for days, and were later released unconditionally. After their release, they again threw themselves into the current of Fa-rectification.

There have been one or two individuals who had serious omissions and implicated other fellow practitioners as a result. Some individuals, unable to let go of human attachments under pressure, revealed their addresses and the names of other fellow practitioners who went with them. This led to intensified persecution. Some fellow practitioners did not step forward with a pure heart and had much attachment to fear.

Here we would like to emphasize one point: practitioners should be clear about the basis of their stepping forward, should keep a pure heart and righteous thoughts, and should completely deny all the arrangements of the old forces. Only then can we truly step out from humanness to validate Fa, to fulfill our oath and offer salvation to sentient beings.

Inspired by more and more fellow practitioners going to Tiananmen Square, on November 18, a fellow practitioner from a small city went to Tiananmen Square with strong righteous thoughts to validate Dafa to all sentient beings in the universe. He unfurled a Dafa banner and shouted out his aspirations from the bottom of his heart. He then returned safely and continued with the Fa-rectification.

Jincheng Station, Changchun Police Department and its subsidiaries have illegally detained and sentenced several hundred Dafa practitioners to forced labor camps since July 20, 1999. At the beginning of this year, this station initiated another practice that one would be awarded 2000 Yuan upon catching a Dafa practitioner. This evil practice was later promoted to other places in Changchun based upon the "recommended successful experience" of the Police Department. In early November 2001, the Politics and Security Section of the City Police Department illegally arrested 3 Dafa practitioners. One of them is Xing Delu, the son of Zhang Yulan who was tortured to death in the tragic event at the Wanjia Labor Camp. As for the other two practitioners who had refused to tell their names, one was released a few days later. The other has been on hunger strike for almost 20 days, and has now been sent to the hospital for emergency treatment as he is on the verge to death.

Having been on a hunger strike to protest the extended detention, on the evening of October 25, Li Shuyun's condition suddenly took a turn for the worse and she passed out. She was sent to the hospital. Whether she is alive or dead is unknown.

Recently, the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, Liaoning Province is planning to transfer practitioners who are steadfast to the practice of Falun Dafa in order to avoid the investigation of International Human Rights Organizations. (Female practitioner Wang Jinping from Shaoshan Town, Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province has been illegally detained for two and a half years. The other day, her family members got this news when they were informed to bring new clothes for her.)

In the second half of 1999, the Jiuquan Newspaper published a piece of news about Dafa practitioner Zhao Yuqin, together with a picture saying that she had "given up Falun Gong." Now Zhao Yuqin herself declared solemnly: "The news was a false story made up by someone with ulterior motives. I have never given up my sacred belief. I will 'take the Fa as teacher' and will steadfastly keep on walking along the golden road of cultivating Falun Dafa forever."

A practitioner in a certain city has not been able to get truth-clarifying literature for some time. So he hand copied more than 100 copies of the truth-clarifying literature about the self-immolation incident and put them up. This has effectively restrained the evil, and helped with the salvation of people.

Evidence of his crimes: When I was assigned to Unit No.1 on June 30, 2000, Cai Guoqiang was the leader of that unit. As soon as I arrived at the gate, he asked me if I would still practice Dafa. I said I would. He then slapped me several times in the face, and asked me again. When I gave him the same answer, he slapped my face again.

It was around January 2001, when Zhu Jianxun (a miner from Yongche Copper Mine, Qianshan County, Jiangxi Province) was transferred to Unit No.1 after being recaptured. Cai Guoqiang ordered him to kneel down and started hitting his face. The whole unit could hear the sound of the beating. When Yang Hai (a 30 years old seal engraver from Ganzhou City, formerly the head of an assistance center in his district. He has been illegally sentenced to 3 years of forced labor and may still be detained in the No.2 Gaoan Labor Camp at the moment) stepped out and said to Cai that if he wanted to beat someone, he might as well beat all of us, Cai Guoqiang turned around and beat Yang Hai as well.

Wang Nanhua (office telephone number: 86-0791-5516944), previously the leader of No. 4 detachment of Unit No.2, has now been promoted to the position of Deputy Head of Unit No.2. He gained political advantage through persecuting Falun Gong, and has committed many crimes. He is insatiably greedy and a beast in human shape. An inmate (non-practitioner) in the forced labor camp has kept a special record of the various crimes of the guards including corruption, bribery and beatings of inmates. He plans to expose all of the crimes to foreign reporters when he gets out. There is a practitioner by the name of Zen Yicheng (a young man in his 20's from Ruijin City, Jingxi Province), who was forced by Wang Nanhua and Wang Guangbo, the deputy leader, to read materials that slandered Dafa every day. His current situation is unknown.

Reliable Information: Recently, there have been some secret agents in Wuchang and Wuhan City who pretended to be reporters from Minghui's [Note: The chinese language version of Clearwisdom.net] newsroom. They are particularly interested in collecting reports on cruel torture. A couple from Guangdong Province claimed to be practitioners, but according to some practitioners, they had already ruined an important information center. We hope practitioners are more alert, and judge everything according to Dafa so that the evil will not be able to exploit any weak points.

Meng Xianjun, female, 27 years old, was sent to Shuangcheng's local government's liaison office in Beijing. She had gone to Beijing to appeal to the government for the right to practice Falun Gong on November 9^th, 2000. Jiang and Xia who worked for the liaison office took 160 Yuan (translator' note: the average urban worker's monthly salary is 500 Yuan) away from her. Zhang Guofu extorted another 2,000 Yuan from her, after she was sent back to the 610 Office in Shuangcheng City. On December 23^rd, 2000 she went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Dafa and was illegally detained in the No 2 custodial center in Shuangcheng. She was released after hunger striking for eight days, and her family paid 130 Yuan to the custodial center. On February 15^th 2001, Zhang Shiyao, vice president of Shuangcheng 610 Office, and another person (a man, about 35 years old,) went to Meng Xianjun' s home and deceived her in order to get her to go to the 610 office. They said they "just wanted to talk". After talking, they unlawfully detained her in the No 2 custodial center in Shuangcheng for 37 days and extorted about 300 Yuan from her to "pay for meals". Zhang Guofu extorted an additional 5, 000Yuan from her.

Han Yaqin, female, 49 years old, was seized after she went to Beijing to peacefully appeal. She was unlawfully detained in Shuangcheng's local government's liaison office in Beijing for two days. During that time, she was handcuffed to a table for six hours, and illegally detained for 19 days at the Shuangcheng police department. Jiang from Shuangcheng Local Government Liaison Office, and Shuangcheng police department's Zhang Guofu extorted a total of 164 Yuan from her. Han was arrested on July 19^th, 2000 after she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was detained in the Shuangcheng Local Government Liaison Office in Beijing for six days. Then she was illegally detained in Shuangcheng police department for another 50 days. Zhang Guofu extorted 2400 Yuan from her. Shuangcheng Local Government Liaison Office's Wang Shengli took another 8 Yuan from her.

Liu Yanqing, male, is 46 years old. The local government and local police station harassed his family. One day, Fu Chaoyang and Yuan Yongfu from the local police station searched his house and confiscated Dafa materials. Videotapes, audiotapes, and books were stolen. In order to validate Dafa, Liu Yanqing went to Beijing on May 27^th 2000 to appeal to the government for the right to practice Falun Gong. He was sent to Shuangcheng Local Government Liaison Office in Beijing after protesting on Tiananmen Square. Wang Chengli stole 15 Yuan from Liu's pocket. Liu was sent back to Shuangcheng Custodial Center. He was illegally detained for 19 days. One hundred and eighty Yuan was extorted from him. This was claimed as 'payment for meals' by the Custodial Center's President. He was sent to the village "transforming class" for 3 days. He went to Beijing again on November 3^rd, 2000 to appeal again. On the morning of November 5^th 2000, government personnel spotted him on Tiananmen Square when he was watching the flag raising ceremony. Liu Yufeng beat and kicked him and sent him back to the Shuangcheng's Local Government Liaison Office in Beijing. Liu Yufeng said, "Give him a meal; we wouldn't want him to die from hunger." Liu Yanqing was detained in Room 8 of the Shuangcheng Custodial Center and then transferred to Room 3. He was tortured all kinds of different ways by the prisoner Liu Zhiguo. He was tortured so seriously that he became very weak and fainted during the time assigned for prisoners to use the rest room. On November 8^th, the policeman sent him to Wanjia Labor Camp. The labor camp refused to take him. Yang Hongqiao from Shuangcheng Custodial Center was so mad that he beat and shouted at Liu Yanqing. He was sent to Yimianpo (another custodial center) the next day. Eighty Yuan was extorted from Liu Yanqing and another practitioner. Liu Yanqing was beaten twice by the guard, He. Liu Yimianpo endured inhumane treatment for 21 days. He was sent to Shuihua on January 18th 2001. He was told by the policeman there, "If you don't give up cultivation, then you're detention will be extended. During his detention, Zhang Qing from the Nongfeng Village government tried to secretly sell the land that Liu Yanqing owned. Zhang Qing forced Liu Yanqing to transfer 4,434 Yuan to himself. Liu Yanqing was released on May 23rd 2001.

Zhao Shijun is a 53 years old male. After July 20th 1999, He Donghui from the village government went to Zhao's home and confiscated his books. Zhao went to Beijing to appeal. Ma Guangru and Liu Yufeng from the county government sent him to prison for 52 days. He endured beatings, verbal abuse, and torture. He was released after Wang Zhanwen from Shuangcheng custodial center extorted 485 Yuan from him. He could walk home by himself, however they forced him to pay 100 Yuan for a ride. Zhao was illegally detained for 72 days in brainwashing class that the county government set up. Zhao lost his freedom and his family had a big loss in revenue because nobody was at home. The Village team extorted 2,238 Yuan from Zhao. Because Zhao did not co-operate with them, Zhang Qing led a group of people to go to his home. They were going to take a female pig, which was going to have a litter. Zhao reasoned with the other people and they all thought he was right and left. Zhang left too because nobody helped him to commit wrongdoing. In the spring, Zhang went to his home and requested his land. Zhao said that he did not owe the government any taxes, so he was going to keep his land. Zhang Qing ordered the village team to destroy the crops in the field, but they did not obey. Zhang Qing attempted to use all possible means to persecute him.

Liu Zhixiu is a 30-year-old female. Right before the spring festival the policemen from Zhaojia police subdivision attempted to deceive Xiao Yiali, Zhao Dongmei, and Liu Zhixiu. The policeman asked them if they would continue to practice and they all answered that they would, so they were sent to Shuangcheng No 2 Custodial Center without any valid reason. On December 12th 2000, the Shuangcheng 610 Office extorted 1,000 Yuan from her father-in-law, Guo Yongtian. In the custodial center, she was doing Falun Gong exercises with fellow practitioners Xu Shuhua, Huang Xianzhen, Xu Shuhua and Guo Mingxia. The president of the custodial center, Ciu, led two or three inmates and the guard Han who was on duty that day to kick the practitioners and curse them with dirty words. Huang Yanzhen had not taken food for over 10 days (she was over 60 years old) and Guo Mingxia had not taken food for three or four days. The villains were flustered and exasperated. They grabbed the practitioners' hair and slammed their heads against the wall. Huang Yianzhen lost a big tuft of hair as a result of the incident. The practitioners that were unlawfully detained in room 9 were forced to sit on the cement floor. They did the exercises and some of them were beaten badly. In order to resist the evil behavior, 40 practitioners went on a group hunger strike. The custodial center, using armed policemen, forced them to take food twice during the hunger strike. Every practitioner was force fed with salt and soymilk. An evil guard with the last name of Du, said madly, " We will stop persecuting you whenever you start to eat. We will see who can win." Another evil guard with the nickname Wang Huoya saw the practitioners vomit and said, "I am so happy today." On April 3^rd 2001, the Shuangcheng 610 Office extorted 2,000 Yuan from Liu Zhixiu's mother, Jiang Guixia.

Liu Yanling is a 65 years old male. In June 2000 he went to Beijing to validate Dafa. He was illegally detained for 2 days by the Beijing Railroad Police Station. Later, he was transferred to the Shuangcheng Local Government Liaison Office in Beijing. Liu was unlawfully detained there for two days. Next, he was sent back to Shangcheng detention center by the village president, Yin Yuxin, and the village accountant, Bai Yongfu. He was illegally detained at the detention center for 15 days. Zhang Goufu, from Shuangcheng Police Department extorted 600 Yuan from him. Yin Yuxin, the village president extorted another 2,000 Yuan from him. After that, he was finally sent home. On the sixth day of the first month of the lunar year 2001, the village president reported him for clarifying the truth and exposing the evil. Chaoyang Police Station illegally detained him in the Home of Respect for the Aged. Li Yueli and Wei Chong from the county government ordered Qu Deming and Liu Xichen to beat his head and body twice a day using a plastic tube, and to beat his buttocks after taking his cotton trousers off. He was released after being illegally detained for three days and was forced to pay a "transportation fee" of 50 Yuan. He was also extorted 50 Yuan "for food".

Wang Yanjie is a 46 year old female. She went to Beijing to appeal on April 26th 2000. She was arrested in Jinzhou. She was illegally detained in the Jinzhou custodial center for 7 days. Then she was detained in Shuangcheng custodial center for another 15 days. They extorted 500 Yuan from her. Wang was then sent to the Home of Respect for the Aged. There was a brainwashing class held there for 9 days that she was forced to attend. They extorted another 500 Yuan from her. Zhao Xiuxia, Fu Chunlou, Wei Chong and Liu Xichen from Chaoyang county government stole 1,625 jin (translator's note: a measurement unit, one jin equals to 500 gram) from her.

Sun Shibo is a 45 year old female. Since July 20th 1999, the local government and police department has harassed her family. The government sent Zhang Dongmei and Xu XX to her home every day and the village also sent someone to monitor her. One night during April 2000, a group of people from the county government burst into her house and took her to the police subdivision for illegal detention. They held her for one day and night without giving her a reason. Then they detained her for an additional three days. Gao Jinpeng and Wu Desheng from Zhoujia County extorted 500 Yuan from her. On the afternoon of January 19^th 2001, a group of people from the local government and the police subdivision deceived her and her husband. Her husband was sent to Shuangcheng prison and was unlawfully detained there for 63 days. She was sent to the Home of

Respect for the Aged, and was detained there for over a month.

Ma Xianyun is a 31 year old female. She went to Beijing to appeal on June 5^th 2000, and was sent to the 610 Office by plainclothes policemen. They arrested her at the appealing center. She was sent back to Shuangcheng custodial center and unlawfully detained for 15 days. She endured inhumane treatment during her detention. The president of the custodial center extorted a "meal" fee of 120 yuan from her. She was forced to pay a 100 Yuan "transportation fee" by Zhang Qing and Sun Zhijun, even though she could have walked home by herself. Her family refused to pay 1, 367-Yuan "traveling expenses" for the people who went to Beijing to pick her up. In the fall of that year, the village cadre deducted this amount of money from her brother-in-law's salary . This caused a strain within the family.

Liu Chunxiu, female, is 24 years old. Since July 1999, the local government has gone to her home to search for Dafa books and to disturb her family many times. On November 3^rd 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal with her parents, husband, and her less than 7 months old daughter. She was sent to Shuangcheng's local government's liaison office in Beijing. Jiang X stole the last 2-Yuan that she had. On January 3^rd 2000, Zhang Qing, from the village team sent her a notification that she must send 1,756 Yuan to the village before January 5^th. Their land would be sold if the money weren't sent that day. She did not have any land. Her husband had 2 mu (translator's note: mu is Chinese unit of area, one mu is about equal to 667 square meters) of land for growing rice. The village took away her father in law's land instead. On numerous occasions, the old man requested that the village president, Zhang Qing, return his land. His requests were ignored. They told him they had sold the land and he had to pay money in order to get the land back. Zhang Qing said, "We will break your leg if you come back again." He did eventually get the land back. This is an example of Jiang's persecution extending to family members.

Li Shuying, female, is 37 years old. On May 11^th 2000 (lunar calendar) she went to Beijing to appeal and was detained in Shuangcheng Custodial Center for over 20 days. Zhu Xikui from Shingshan County extorted 2,000 Yuan from her. During December 2000 (lunar calendar) the officials in Shingshan county said that according to their superiors' instructions, all Dafa practitioners should be seized and sent to a detention center and should not be allowed to spend the Spring Festival at home. So she was taken to Shuangcheng Custodial Center and illegally detained for a month and two days. They also extorted 600 Yuan from her to "pay for meals". Later, she was detained by Shingshang County government for over 20 days. Zhu Xikui from Shingshan County Government extorted an additional 500-Yuan from her.

Zhao Xifeng is a 32-year-old female. On February 9^th 2000 she went to Beijing to appeal. She was sent to Shuangcheng custodial center for over 20 days. This occurred after she was arrested in Jinzhou City. She was then unlawfully detained in Shuangchen Home of Respect for the Aged for about 10 days. She was released after Zhao Xiuxia extorted 1,000 yuan from her. The County government asked her if she would continue to practice during the first month of lunar 2000. She answered, "Yes"; therefore she was detained in Shaoyang home of Respect for the Aged for more than 2 months. She was beaten badly during the detention period. She went on a hunger strike with the other practitioners detained there and requested to be released unconditionally. The officials did not release them. They force-fed them using a tube inserted through their noses. Liu Chunchen beat Zhao Xifeng many times with a plastic tube. Chaoyang Political and Judiciary Committee president Li Yueli extorted 600 Yuan from Zhao Xifeng before releasing her. Village president Fu Chenlou and Wei Chong extorted another 1,920 yuan from her family.

Yin Yusan, is a 40 year old male. In June 2000 he went to Beijing to validate Dafa. The Beijing Railroad Zhanqian Police Station detained him for two days. He was sent back to Shuangchen by village president Yin Yuxin and village accountant Bai Yongfu and detained in Shuangchen Detention Center for 7 days. Zhang Guoxin from Shangcheng Police Department extorted 2,000 Yuan from Yin Yusan. He was released shortly thereafter. On January 6^th 2001 (lunar Calendar) Chaoyang Police Station illegally detained Yin in the home of Respect for the Aged. Li Yueli and Wei Chong in the County government ordered Shengchan village peasant Qu Deming and Shengchuan village cadre Liu Chunchen to beat Yin viciously with a plastic tube. His nose was bleeding and he was handcuffed to an iron bed for a night. He was released after being detained for 3 days. Before releasing him they extorted 50 Yuan from Yin for "transportation costs" and 50Yuan for "meal costs".

Ma Guoyong, female, is 47 years old. In June 2000 she went to Beijing to appeal. She was arrested outside of the appealing center. She was detained in Chuangcheng No 2 custodial center for 20 days after being detained in Shuangcheng's local government's liaison office in Beijing for 3 days. She was then detained in Chaoyang Home of Respect for the Aged for over 20 days. She was released after they extorted 500 Yuan from her. Jiang He extorted another 3,000 Yuan from Ma Guoyong and another practitioner. On the morning of January 18^th 2001, Chaoyang county political and judiciary committee president Li Yueli and Shengde village president Jiang He went to her home and asked her if she would continue practicing. She answered, "Yes" and they left after asking her something else and making some written notes. About 3 or 4 pm that day, they went to her house again and asked her to go to the County Government for an unknown reason. She told them that she would not go because nobody was available to care for her child. They told her that it wouldn't take long. She was deceived. She was detained at Home of Respect for the Aged for 2 days. She was then sent to Shuangcheng No 2 Custodial Center and was unlawfully detained for two and a half months. Next, she was sent back to Home of Respect for the Aged for 2 more days of detention. Li Yueli from Chaoyang county government extorted 3,000 Yuan from her. Then she was released.

Yan Hongjuan, female, is 34 years old. On July 22^nd 1999 she went to the provincial government in Haerbin City and requested that the governments stop persecuting Falun Dafa. The government harassed her after that. In April 2000, Ordinary Affairs President Zhang Dongchen, Town President Wang Xiangdong, Military Department President Wu Desheng, and Wang Yan from a Police Department subdivision arrested her. This occurred when she was at a group Fa study with other practitioners. She was released after being detained for 3 days in Zhoujia police subdivision. On July 5^th 2000, she went to Beijing to validate Dafa. She was held at the Beijing Tiananmen police station. She refused to tell her name. They sent her to Miyun police station. She was released after going on a hunger strike. On January 20^th 2001, Ma Shenglong, Gao Jinping, and Wu Desheng deceived her. They tricked her into going to the Police subdivision. She was then detained in Shuangcheng Detention Center for 68 days. Zhang Guofu extorted 500 Yuan from her. The Detention Center extorted an over 700 Yuan "meal fee" from her. Some Government Officials also extorted over 1,000 Yuan from her family members.

Li Guihua, female, is 45 years old. She was arrested around the time of the 2000 Spring Festival when she went to Beijing for Fa-Rectification. The 610 office extorted 1,000 Yuan from her. They continued to monitor her for over half a year. They often went to her house to harass her.

Zhang Huanyi, male, is 47 years old. On May 21 2000, he went to Beijing to validate Dafa. He was detained in Shuangcheng's Local Government Liaison office in Beijing by local policeman. He was sent back by somebody from his company on May 24, was detained in Shuangcheng No 2 custodial center for 17 days, and was extorted 1,500 Yuan by Shuangcheng 610 Office. During detention period, the practitioners kept up studying Fa and so were found by the guard. The practitioners went on a group hunger strike in order to resist the persecution. At about 3pm on the fifth day of hunger strike, the guard took Zhang Huanyi out, handcuffed his arms on the back, and fed him salt water by force in the torture room. He said, "I was right to go to Beijing to appeal. This is the right empowered by our national constitution." The evil president of the detention center, the prison doctor and 610 Office agent did not listen to his kindly persuasion and tortured him.

Zhang Shufen, female, is 50 years old. On July 30^th 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was arrested on August 8th. She was detained in Shuangcheng No 2 Custodial Center for 15 days. Zhao Yihe from Qinglin extorted 1,000 Yuan from her. On June 23rd 2000, she was detained for talking to another practitioner. They held her in Shuangcheng No 2 custodial center for 10 days. During this detention she was beaten once by an evil policeman from the 610 office. On August 23rd 2000, the Shuangcheng 610 Office seized her from her home when she was telling others the truth about Dafa. They illegally searched her home and took Dafa books, Dafa materials and Master's portrait. The evil policeman in Shuangcheng 610 Office beat her and made her kneel on the ground for over an hour. She was illegally detained for 16 days, and was released after Shuangcheng 610 office extorted 2,000 Yuan from her husband. On January 18^th 2001, her family was preparing for the Chinese Spring Festival. The village president Dong Fushan was afraid that she would go to Beijing to appeal. He ordered the local police station to send the four people in her family to the Shuangcheng Custodial Center and detained them for 115 days. The detention center President, Jin Chaolu, cursed and beat her, fully giving free reign to his scoundrel side.

Li Sheng, male, is 56 years old. On April 29^th 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal and then was sent to the Beijing police station. He was then sent to Shuangcheng's Local Government Liaison Office in Beijing and was left handcuffed for 8 days. On May 8th, he was sent to Shuangcheng Custodial Center and was detained for 19 days. On May 26th he was released after Zhao Shuxia extorted 1,000 Yuan from him. After the fall, the village government forced him to transfer 700 Yuan to them. In December 2000, Wei Chong, Liu Xichen, Fu Chunlou and Qi Guojun extorted money from his family again. If his family doesn't give them money, they will arrest him. His family now has to sell their corn for the benefit of the government hoodlums, instead of for their own benefit.

Yi Haifeng is a 28-year-old male. On November 5^th 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal with his wife and their 7- month -old daughter. They were all arrested. The local government and police station personnel sent them to Shuangcheng Local Government Liaison Office in Beijing. The policemen handcuffed them in the Shuangcheng Local Government Liaison Office in Beijing. Jiang X extorted 34 Yuan from him. On November 7th, they were sent to Shuangcheng Custodial Center and detained there for 15 days. They were forced to pay a 'meal fee' of 130 Yuan. On January 3rd 2001, the Village Committee notified his family that they must pay 1,756 Yuan before January 5^th 2001. If they did not send that amount of money before the deadline, they would lease the 9 Mu of fields contracted by his parents and continue to lease them for four years. This unreasonable request was not granted and his family continues to be harassed.

(Clearwisdom.net) Due to my trip to Beijing to validate Dafa, I was sentenced to one year of labor education at Wanzhuang Forced Labor Camp in Langfang City, Hebei Province. Nearly a hundred practitioners had been detained there illegally.

Extreme Intensity Forced Labour

For profit, the labour camp forces detainees to work long hours, mainly sewing footballs and picking red beans for export. Each person has a daily quota of work, and is severely beaten with a stick if the allocated work is not finished on time. He/she would not be allowed to go to sleep until the job was done; therefore many often had to work over 20 hours a day. Sometimes before a day's work is done, the next day's work would already be allocated, leaving no time to sleep at all. Many hands have been deformed from sewing footballs. In order to force practitioners to give up cultivation, the evil tried all different means, such as not allowing any sleep, forcing practitioners to write a "guarantee [promising to give up the practice of Falun Gong]," etc. One practitioner refused to write a "guarantee," so he was shocked with an electric baton for two nights with his hands and feet tied up.

Overly Crowded Cells

When the labour camp was holding more people, there were around 40-50 people staying in a cell of less than 30 square meters. Three people had to share a bed one meter (~3 feet) wide. Sometimes people had to take turns sleeping, or sleep on the floor.

Extortion

The heads of the guards of the labour camp were involved in extorting money and property from Dafa practitioners as well as other inmates by various means. They encouraged shift leaders to bully the inmates, so that the inmates' families would bribe them in order to reduce the suffering of their loved ones. One inmate's family has already spent over 10,000 Yuan on "gifts" in less than a year, and another family was said to have spent over 50,000 already. They also try to restrict the food supply to make people starve, so that they have to purchase extra food from the centre that is marked up in price.

From May of this year, the evil force has intensified the persecution against Dafa practitioners. As long as one refused to write a "guarantee" letter, one would be viciously beaten by a guard daily, and be deprived of sleep.

According to sources, the head of the labour camp has been sacked due to a financial problem, which was a retribution for evil deeds. We'd like to tell all those who are still involved in persecuting Dafa practitioners to stop committing wrong doings, or face the punishment by law, as well as by heaven!

The Superintendent of the Second Women's Criminal Camp, Su Jing, was honored with a "Second Degree Hero Model" in Beijing for her involvement in the persecution of Falun Gong. She then traveled around the country and made speeches. On her return, she was involved in a car accident and her nose was broken.

During the year 2001, Shao Li, the vice-superintendent of the Second Women's Criminal Camp, was always sick and had to constantly receive intravenous injections. This is her retribution for using electric batons to torture Dafa practitioner.

Captain Lu from the Second Women's Criminal Camp suffers from toothache every time she slanders Dafa or deceives practitioners.

A conversation overheard between two captains: It was found that regardless of their age group, young or old, all the policemen in the Second Criminal Camp had been diagnosed with high blood pressure during their yearly check up.

We would like to warn repeatedly all the bad people in Masanjia Forced Labor Re-education Camp: the evidence of your criminal acts has already been recorded. In order to protect the righteousness in our society, one day you will be brought to justice. There is an accurate measure by which good is rewarded with good and evil meets with the. The punishment from gods is their compassion to you. Please stop assisting the vicious groups to commit crimes.

On November 7, 2001, two policemen were killed in a kidnapping crime in Jiamusi, Heilongjian Province. One of the policemen was Cui Rongli; he was the captain of Xiang Yang police substation and was in charge of persecuting Falun Gong. The other policeman was 33 year old Ding Daicheng, an officer from Xiang Yang police station. He was also a vicious persecutor of Dafa practitioners. He reported Dafa practitioners, arrested and tortured them to force them to give up their practice, and turn in and destroy their Dafa books.

Han, the vice-superintendent from Bao Dian city (Hubei Province), viciously slandered Dafa in front of all the labor camp personnel during their yearly "reward and punish" meeting. He insulted Master Li, and force-fed Dafa practitioners. He was held in a detention center for fighting while having dinner in a restaurant. He has received his due retribution.

On August 14 of the Lunar calendar, the head of Comprehensive Management Office of Beidian village of Qingyuan County in Heibei Province, Yao Guoan, was riding a motorcycle when he hit a car and ended up pinned under the car. He died from the accident and the car was totally ruined. Before he died, he had been a policeman. Since July 20, 1999, he had followed closely Jiang Zemin's evil group to sabotage Dafa, persecute and brutally torture Dafa practitioners. He once said viciously: "I will not lose my 13 years hard earned government position because of your practice of Falun Gong." This was lack of a clear distinction between the righteous and evil; he did not want to lose his rank, and this cost him his life. Was it really worth it?

Vicious Policeman From Chengdu City, Sichuan Province Receives Retribution

Wang Zhengli, the director of the Fuqin Sub-district Police Station and the person directly responsible for the torture and death of Chengdu Dafa practitioner Xu Zhilian, was recently stabbed fifteen times and sent to the hospital.

Ju Zhaokun, a previous Party secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee of Jing County and the current director of the "610 Office," has been the most notorious villain for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in Jing County. Nowadays, he is under police investigation for some economic problems. Upon hearing this, many of the common people clapped and cheered, and word spread widely saying that it was retribution for his persecution of Falun Gong. Since the year 1999, Ju cruelly persecuted Dafa practitioners all over the county and was guilty of numerous crimes. In 1999, Dafa practitioner Liu Lianyi from Liangji Township was tortured to death, and female Dafa practitioner Sun Lianping was injured and disabled from being beaten. Presently, her whereabouts are still unknown and no one knows if she is alive or not. Around the county, more than thirty Dafa practitioners were illegally sent to forced labor camps and five practitioners were sentenced to long prison terms. Ju himself was responsible for nearly 1,000 detainments. In order to relieve the pressure put on their families, many practitioners have been forced to leave home and wander about, and a huge amount of money has been extorted from thousands of practitioners. Ju has used the persecution of Falun Gong to extort money from common people and get rich immediately. However, both reward to the good and punishment to the evil will come about sooner or later.

Xie Yonggang, a vicious policeman from the Jinhua Street Police Station in Daan City, kidnapped Dafa practitioners many times. On May 28, soon after he and another vicious policeman kidnapped Dafa practitioners off the street, he got sick. But he still did not change his evil nature. On July 4, he kidnapped his own neighbor (a Dafa practitioner) after his neighbor's return trip home, and illegally detained him for 15 days. Three days later, the roof to his storage room was blown off by a violate gale. And now, he has necrosis of the thighbone and has been transferred to a detention center. (note: necrosis is a medical term for the death and decay of bodily tissues).

Wang Jun, a coworker of Xie Yonggang, often looked upon Dafa with hatred. In April, while illegally ransacking the homes of Dafa practitioners, he verbally abused Dafa and disrespected Teacher's pictures. He also tried hard to frame cases against Dafa practitioners so he could put them in jail, but failed. Soon after, he also got necrosis of the thighbone and now has to use a walking stick.

One day in December 2000, while some Dafa practitioners from Gongzhuling City legally went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa, policemen from the Chaoyangpo Police Station in the city ransacked their homes. Upon finding Dafa materials, they confiscated them and attempted to take them back to the police station. On their way back however, they got into a car accident. The car was completely destroyed and the policemen were injured. Not long after, their police director, Zhang Yong, was dismissed from his post because of excessive drinking at work.

We would like to seriously warn those villains who are being used as clubs in the hands of Jiang's political gang of scoundrels to beat people. These occurrences are not coincidences or accidental phenomena. It is a principle of heaven that good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil. Please hurry and wake up to this. Otherwise, it will be too late for you to regret it when the retribution arrives.

China News Net of Fuzhou City on 11/15/01: Mr. Qiu Guangzhong is fired from his job as the Deputy Governor of Fujian Province.

Since July of 1999, some wicked personnel of various governmental and public security or administrative and legal departments in Fujian Province (as some other officials in other parts of China), have acted as violent instruments for the most notorious human-rights violator and the most vicious persecutor: Jiang Zemin. Falun Dafa practitioners have been thrown out of work or school, illegally detained, sent to forced labor camps or jails, transferred to mental institutions to be tortured, or even persecuted to death. Looking at what is happening today in China, you'll see more and more natural disasters and human catastrophes. Meanwhile, many corrupt and warped officials have started to receive their retribution for participating in the persecution of Falun Gong. The following list briefly tell what happened to Fujian Dafa practitioners during Mr. Qiu's administration:

1. Ms. Yang Ruiyu, a Dafa practitioner in Fujian Province, had been an employee at the Real Estate Bureau of Taijiang District, Fuzhou City. On July 19, 2001, she was taken away from her work by police from Public Security without any legal basis for detention. Later, Ms. Yang died on July 22 as a result of police abuse. After Ms. Yang's death, the Fuzhou Police Bureau used heavy pressure to threaten Ms. Yang's family not to talk about her death. In addition, Ms. Yang's colleagues were not allowed a last viewing of her, and no funeral memorial was permitted either. Her body was guarded by police cars on the way to the cremation center, and was cremated immediately upon arrival. Even Ms. Yang's husband and daughter were not allowed to come closer to see her body. However, it was said that there was a hole in Yang's waist as large as an adult's fist. 2. In a prison at Pingtan County, Fujian Province, Dafa practitioner Xiao Yanglong was persecuted to death. Mr. Xiao Yanglong, male, 32, a former teacher of the Dongxiang Town Middle School, Pingtan County, Fujian Province, had been persisting in practicing Falun Dafa. He also taught more than 10 of his students Falun Gong and passed on Dafa books and materials to other students in the school. He wrote letters to government leaders to explain the real situation of Falun Gong and demanded fair treatment of those who practice Falun Gong. He firmly believed in Dafa and was preparing to go to Beijing to validate Dafa. Enforcers from the local police station and People's Court detained him and sentenced him to 4 years in prison. After July 2000, Xiao Yanglong went on a hunger strike to protest the mistreatment to him. On July 22, 2000, this strong-willed man died of exhaustion and weakness caused by the persecution. 3. Rujiang Forced Labor Camp in Fujian Province is a dark den that persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. It utilizes all kinds of extremely vicious, despicable methods to torture practitioners, and the police incite criminals to wantonly beat them up. For those practitioners who firmly hold onto their belief in Falun Dafa, the labor camp extends their terms without any legal procedure. The following is an account of events in Rujiang Forced Labor Camp.

Practitioner Chen Jian was sentenced to a one-year term of forced labor for practicing Falun Dafa. Since the beginning, he has been forced to work seventeen hours per day. His entire body, especially the lower part, is severely swollen. Even so, the guards have forced him to run around a field for two hours. Furthermore, they have forced him to stand for more than ten days in succession without sleep. The police have forced him to stretch his arms to the sides and cuffed his hands while he was standing so that his body formed a cross. He was forced to stand in this position for a long time. To intensify the persecution, the guards ordered the inmates to monitor practitioners around the clock, and threatened that if they did not watch practitioners closely, their terms would be extended. By putting pressure on the inmates, the police purposely incited inmates' hatred toward Falun Gong practitioners. Some guards even said openly that if the practitioners did not give in, they would inject the practitioners with addictive drugs.

Practitioner Chen Heng was sentenced to one year in the labor camp. Because he did not give up Falun Gong, his term was extended for one year without any legal procedure. The guards tortured him for long periods of time by hitting him, shocking him with electric batons, forcing him to stand for long hours, and placing him in solitary confinement. His mental state is now unstable, and he was sent to the Jianxin Hospital in Fuzhou, Fujian Province.

Practitioner Zhang Siquan was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp for practicing Falun Dafa. The police forced him to spread his arms and they then bound them. They shocked him repeatedly with electric batons, then punched and kicked him. Zhang was covered with bruises and bled from his mouth. The guards also forced him to remain standing for over ten days in succession without sleep.

The forced labor camp is a place for law enforcement, yet the guards constantly violate the law. They fear the exposure of their actions, so whenever there are people inspecting the labor camp, they hide all the Falun Dafa practitioners in a warehouse. Twenty practitioners are currently being detained in Rujiang Forced Labor Camp. There are also many practitioners detained in Taiyu Women's Forced Labor Camp in Fuzhou, Xianhuai Detention Center, Sanming Detention Center, and Ninghua Mental Hospital. 4. Falun Dafa practitioner Chen Biyu was originally a staff member of the Taijiang branch of the China Industrial Commercial Bank in Fujian province. She was locked up in the detention center three times and sent to a mental hospital four times. Ms. Chen received inhumane torture and was forced to leave her job as she was fired.

As Fujian's Deputy Governor, Mr. Qiu should be liable for all the cruel persecution of Falun Gong practitioners mentioned above. It is Heaven's Law that "Good and evil will get what they deserve in the end." We hope that the involved officials and police personnel stop persecuting Falun Gong right away. If they wish to escape heavenly retribution, they must make the right choice between good and evil.

Practitioners doing Falun Dafa work in our area have encountered some difficulties. For example, different groups can both do very good work independently, but cooperation between them is bad. With the issue of security in mind, some jobs could have been handled better; however, practitioners were blocked by their notions of self. Or, practitioners failed to correctly position themselves and thus failed to have a good understanding of what they were doing. They then became unclear about what they should and shouldn't do. For example, it would have been much better if the practitioners responsible for taking care of the printers and copy machines did not contact or share experiences with many people. However, some practitioners didn't pay enough attention to this issue and in the end the police found the printing and copying facility and confiscated the machines. This caused the loss of a source by which many people could have received truth-clarifying materials. I think the reason for this misfortune was that some practitioners had not let go of their notions of self, so they didn't view the situation as a whole. Thus, they failed to realize the overall requirements for themselves.

As practitioners, we shouldn't try to arrange our cultivation path ourselves. We shouldn't do whatever we want to do. We need to consider the situation as a whole. Teacher said, "Get rid of any attachment you might have, and don't think about [such] things. Just do everything a Dafa disciple should do, and everything will be covered."(From Teacher's lecture on the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Conference) I came to understand that as Fa-rectification disciples, if we are unable to start out by viewing the overall picture when we encounter problems, we will to some extent be trapped in our notions of self and be involved in self-cultivation rather than be part of the Fa-rectification process. Also, "self" or "selfishness" can manifest simply by focusing on "ourselves," "our group" or "our area", etc. However, "getting rid of any attachment" includes getting rid of our notions of self and considering the situation for the sake of the whole. We will suffer much fewer losses if we can get rid of our notions of self, view ourselves as an integral part of the whole and understand from a broader perspective what it means to be real Fa-rectification disciples.

Teacher said, "If you are still unclear about what Fa-rectification disciples are, you won't be able to step forward in the current tribulation..." (From Teacher's article "Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples") Are we Fa-rectification disciples simply because we are doing Fa-rectification work? Not necessarily, I think. Fa-rectification disciples need to understand their responsibilities in a larger scope and from a broader perspective. Only this way, can we do a good job in our duties.

I think that we can melt into Fa-rectification and fulfill our Fa-rectification disciples' duties if we will let go of our notions of self, consider the needs of others and the needs of the overall Fa-rectification, and be responsible for the whole process. Of course, being responsible for the whole process doesn't mean trying to take care of everything or impose our own opinions on others.

Recently, after I calmed down and spent lots of time studying the Fa, I started to send forth righteous thoughts almost once every hour whenever I had time.

Once while I was sending forth righteous thoughts, I had one thought to send forth all my compassion to assist Teacher to save the sentient beings. Then I silently recited the Fa-rectifying verses in serenity and compassion. After I silently recited it several times, tears suddenly rolled down. I realized afterwards that only with a calm, serene and compassionate heart can one send forth more powerful righteous thoughts. I cannot see anything with my celestial eye, but I believe at that moment my tears were not out of sentimentality; rather, they reflected the genuine compassion of my original nature, which really can eradicate the evil and save all beings. Later I enlightened to why recently I can calm down to send forth righteous thoughts. It is the power of Dafa, and it is because recently I have studied the Fa with a calm heart. Are our righteous thoughts powerful? I enlightened that it all depends on whether we can study the Fa well, and whether we can let go of everything to assimilate to Dafa. The Fa is the most fundamental solution to all problems.

Some fellow practitioners have asked about how to send forth strong and powerful righteous thoughts. I feel that it does not rely on a method, or the speed and loudness of reciting the verses. Teacher said,

"Why doesn't your gong increase with your practice? Many people think this way: 'I haven't received genuine teaching. If a master teaches me some special skills and a few advanced techniques, my gong will increase.' Nowadays, ninety-five percent of people think this way, and I find it quite ridiculous. Why is it ridiculous? It is because qigong is not a technique of everyday people. It is something completely supernormal. Accordingly, the principles of high levels should be applied to examine it." (Zhuan Falun, Lecture One)

Thus there are no shortcuts or special skills in sending forth righteous thoughts. Only when we study the Fa well, assimilate to Dafa, keep up with Teacher's Fa-rectification process, completely view things from the perspective of Fa-rectification, and let go of everything to assist Teacher in the Fa-rectification and in saving all beings, can we send forth the purest and most powerful righteous thoughts.

I enlightened from the Fa-rectifying verses that it is the Fa that rectifies the Cosmos, and that the Fa rectifies Heaven and Earth; it is the Fa that punishes the evil, and the Fa brings good rewards to kind-hearted people. Teacher said in "Beyond the Limits of Forbearance" that "Zhen-Shan-Ren is the Fa!" Teacher also said in Zhuan Falun, "What is the Buddha Fa, then? The most fundamental characteristic of this universe, Zhen-Shan-Ren, is the highest manifestation of the Buddha Fa. It is the most fundamental Buddha Fa." Only the heavenly Fa of Zhen-Shan-Ren can rectify the Cosmos and eradicate all the evil.

Teacher also said, "The Fa can reveal all attachments, the Fa can eradicate all evils, the Fa can expose and dispel all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts." ("Deter Interference"). I enlightened that through studying the Fa we must put down all attachments, selfishness and egoism, let go of everything, completely assimilate to Dafa and melt into the Fa. Only this way can we send forth righteous thoughts that are gloriously radiant and compassionate to all sentient lives. This cannot be achieved by some methods, but only through steady cultivation, step by step.

Although I seemed to have been doing well in spreading Dafa to people over the last two days, still, I also felt as if I were slacking off in some way. Although well aware that the evil was taking advantage of omissions in my thoughts, I still did not do well during some tribulations. One day, I felt sleepy not long after I started copying Dafa books by hand. Because I did not use strong, determined, and righteous thoughts to eradicate the evil, I was exploited.

During a dream, bad person "B" was chasing me. Then, another person "A," who appeared to care about me very much, saved me from a difficult situation. However, what happened later was frightening. The car that "A" and I rode in fell into a river, and the mishap was actually engineered by "A." Just before the car fell into the river, "A" said something like, "I am with 'B,' and what I want is for you and me to perish together." I was startled and woke up instantly, realizing it was a hint from Teacher. During the dream, "A" seemed to care about me a lot on the surface, but actually he personified my degenerated thoughts when I felt sleepy. I had been doing well for the last two days, hence I thought I deserved a bit of a break. But, did "A" really care about me? If he truly did, he should not have instigated "fatigue" to harass me, which prevented me from studying the Fa and improving myself. Compared to "B," "A" was more vicious and cunning. He understood his goal, which was to deceive me so that the two of us would be destroyed together. How selfish and degenerate! Since these contemptible beings dare to attack me openly, it is time to eliminate them completely.

Teacher has reminded Dafa disciples over and over again to study the Fa more and more. I must remember Teacher's words at all times, and constantly remind myself that, in addition to my efforts to clarify the truth, I must also study the Fa and cultivate diligently. In my cultivation, I must never allow any evil to take advantage of omissions in my thoughts. I will keep every thought upright, and I will do better.

(1) The Plainclothes Policeman Flees

Two practitioners handing out Falun Dafa truth clarifying material realized that a plainclothes policeman on a motorcycle was following them. To eliminate the evil, they silently recited Master's Fa-rectification verses. The vicious policeman followed them from quite a distance and did not dare to approach them. These two practitioners enlightened to what Master said, "It is known that a Buddha does not casually open his mouth to talk. Should he open his mouth and talk in our dimension, he could cause an earthquake for humankind." (Zhuan Falun) Then they recited loudly, "The Fa rectifies the cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated!" The evil's motorcycle fell down to the ground suddenly. The plainclothes policeman took a long time to stand up, then fled on his motorcycle.

(2) A female practitioner validates Dafa on a bus and two plainclothes policemen are defeated by her righteous words.

Two plain-clothes policemen found a practitioner distributing Falun Dafa truth clarifying materials on a bus and asked her to hand over all of the materials. The policemen then prepared to assault the practitioner. The practitioner said loudly, "All uncles, aunts, old brothers and sisters here, you see personally that these two plainclothes policemen want to physically assault me. Our Falun Dafa practitioners are good people according to 'Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance).' What are we guilty of? These so-called police do not arrest many people breaking the law and violating the rules of society, they just punish our good people among good people." Then she told all of the people on the bus that Falun Dafa is good. She told them how the media started rumors and defamed Dafa and how they persecuted Dafa practitioners, from the April 25 peaceful appeal to the lies about the self-immolation at Tiananmen. The evil policemen tried to forcefully drag the practitioner from the bus, saying, "Come to the police station with us!" The practitioner spoke loudly with the force of justice, "I will not go with you! You tread on the constitution and break heavenly laws. You will meet with retribution!" Then she recited loudly, "The Fa rectifies the cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated!" The plainclothes policemen's whole bodies were shaking when they heard it. When the people on the bus saw this, the whole bus rocked with laughter. The plainclothes policemen got off the bus defeated and humiliated by the people's laughter.

(3) The director of a police station becomes speechless in the face of practitioners' righteous thoughts.

In a certain city, a collaborator reported a group of over twenty practitioners to the local police station that then asked them to go there. At the beginning, they said they would not go, but a practitioner enlightened and thought, "Let's go and eradicate the evil!" They decided on a secret signal to use when it was time to send out righteous thoughts together.

When they arrived at the local police station, the director took out a notebook and prepared to call their names one by one. At that time, practitioners sent out righteous thoughts at the same time and silently recited the Fa-rectification verses to eliminate the evil. After he took out the notebook, the director fumbled it in his hands constantly. He did this for a long time. Finally he said, "All of you go home; I need to take a rest."

When my work unit tested the newly purchased high-pressure boiler unit in October of 2000, my manager, the plant manager of the boiler unit, and a technician performed the testing. Although the water temperature was raised to 100 degrees Celsius (212 degrees Fahrenheit) and continued to rise under pressure to 120 degrees Celsius (248 Fahrenheit), the water still did not return to the boiler unit, as it was supposed to do. Suddenly, steam burst out of a two-inch-wide pipe, and the manager was standing right below it. He cried loudly, "This is the end of me!" I told him, "Manager, I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner. If you believe in Dafa and trust what I say, just think that you'll be fine and you won't get burned." The manager yelled, "I believe!" Meanwhile, boiling water along with hot steam poured down on his head, face, neck, and body. But he was not hurt. Those who witnessed this were shocked, including the plant manager of the boiler unit, the technician, and more than ten factory staff.

Later, the manager held my hands with great appreciation and said "Madam, once you started talking, I felt a great power, making me believe. I could not deny it. As I thought "belief," coolness rushed from my head to toe. Now I totally believe in Falun Gong!" He happily called in many staff from the work unit, and told them what happened to him. He asked me to teach everyone Falun Gong, and encouraged all factory staff members to learn it.

Since then, the supervisors and staff in my work unit have made fundamental changes in their views towards Falun Gong. Some of them have even started to practice Falun Gong. As a result, they "have been coming to work early and going home late. They work very diligently and will do any assignment the boss gives. They also no longer compete for personal gain. By doing so, they've made the whole factory take on a new look, and the factory's economic returns have also improved" (Lec. 4, Zhuan Falun). When wicked people came to our work unit to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, all the factory staff worked together to resist their evil persecution. This showed the true nature of all beings once they realize the truth, and demonstrated the boundless power of Dafa.

My daughter ranked No. 1 in England on one of her college entrance exams. An award ceremony would be held on November 21 and Princess Anne would preside over it. My daughter agreed to hand Falun Gong materials to Princess Anne during the award ceremony.

On November 21, my family, together with my daughter's teacher, took a train to attend the award ceremony and have lunch with Princess Anne. When Princess Anne talked with the award recipients and took pictures with them after her presentation, my daughter gave her the Falun Gong literature. Princess Anne happily accepted them, and several minutes later, she walked up to my wife and me and talked with us. I told her the situation of the Falun Gong practitioners persecuted in China. She said she would definitely read the materials. Princess Anne also inquired about the situation of Falun Gong in Hong Kong. We could see she is sincerely concerned about Falun Gong in Hong Kong. We answered several of her questions before lunch.

Princess Anne receives Falun Gong practitioner's family and accepts information package about Falun Gong, saying she will definitely read it.

Princess Anne has been very concerned with the Falun Gong situation in China. At the end of last year she wrote to the Falun Dafa Association in England. During her visit to China, she explicitly expressed her concerns over Falun Gong and the Chinese government's violation of human rights.

After lunch, I took the opportunity to spread Dafa to more people. During the teatime, I gave Dafa books to the event organizer and my daughter's teacher, and shared with them about Dafa websites. My daughter's teacher suggested that we could display Dafa books at the school library. I will do that as soon as possible.

On November 23, 2001, Sweden's Falun Information Center and 4 Swedish practitioners held a press conference in a Gothenburg Post Office conference room. These four are practitioners who took part in the peaceful Tiananmen Square demonstration; their names are Pirjo, Yvonne, Roland and Martin.

Reporters from Swedish and Finnish news agencies, including Tidningarnas and Telegrambyr were present at the press conference, which was organized by Sweden's Falun Gong Information Center.

A photo was displayed on the blackboard: 30-some practitioners from 12 countries are raising their hands and eliminating evil in front of the unfurled banner reading Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. This photo records a great and forever historical moment. The reporters all gasped with admiration at the monumental scene.

First, a representative of Sweden's Falun Information Center welcomed attendees and read a statement from the Nordic Falun Dafa Association. Then 4 practitioners sitting in front spoke about why they went to Tiananmen, about the course of their peaceful demonstration, about the cruelty of the Chinese police and of their appeal to media and people of the world.

Yvonne said in her speech: We went to Tiananmen for Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, and to tell fellow practitioners in China that we are with them at this difficult time. I wanted to draw the world's attention back to the cruelty spreading in China. Chinese Falun Gong practitioners have been deprived of their rights as human beings. Many of them are forced to wander about in their own country. Even though their voices cannot be heard by the world, my voice can be heard. The persecution not only involves 100 million Chinese practitioners, but also everyone in the world, because Jiang Zemin's regime is attacking Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, which the world needs. As a Falun Gong practitioner and a citizen of the world, I have the responsibility to stand up for these principles.

Pirjo said in her speech: Before we were surrounded by police and police vans, many people in the square saw us meditating and the unfurled banner. Then police dragged us away one by one using violence. We were thrown into the vans. On the way to the police department, a policeman was pressing my head with his whole body's weight. I felt like my neck was broken.

Roland said in his speech: It was more horrifying than watching a terror movie. I thought I would be beaten to death by police in the van. The police did not stop after they pushed me to the ground; they stomped their feet on my head and beat on my face and my whole body. Chinese policemen have all been brainwashed and have no sense of respect for other human beings. They are rude and brutal. You could image what kind of cruelty Chinese practitioners have been suffering.

Martin said in his speech: Chinese police took me to a room and asked me to sign a paper filled with Chinese characters. I told him that I did not understand Chinese and I would not sign. They resorted to cruelty against me. They forced me to be photographed and I refused to obey. Four policemen assaulted me, one on my left, one on my right, one pulling my hair, and one seizing me by my throat. Chinese police are rude and unreasonable.

Other practitioners said the police also tried to take pictures of them, but they all protested and refused. They knew these photos would surely be used in propaganda against Falun Gong.

When reporters asked practitioners about their plans for the future, the practitioners said they realized even more clearly the imminence and importance of clarifying the truth and exposing the viciousness of Jiang Zemin's regime. They will try even harder. They called on the media to be responsible in their duties because every article about Falun Gong will have direct effects in stopping or promoting the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

The reporters were deeply moved by the practitioners' unselfishness and were shocked by the horror practitioners experienced at the hands of Chinese police. After the conference, they talked to practitioners for a long time and were reluctant to leave.

On November 19, 2001, Belgian practitioners held a peaceful appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy in Brussels to protest the escalating persecution against Falun Gong practitioners throughout China, especially in the Changchun area.

We hoped that through our peaceful appeal we could wake up people's conscience to help stop the brutal killing of innocent practitioners. When people stand up to condemn and protest the injustice and inhumane conduct, it benefits the future of all people.

The world first became aware of Falun Gong in July 22, 1999 when the [Jiang Zemin] government, concerned about its growing popularity, outlawed its practice. Since then the world media has directed its attentions at the many documented cases of human rights violations where Falun Gong practitioners have been beaten and tortured while in government detention. Yet with this constant media attention focused on the issue of human rights little has been said of the actual practice and practitioners of Falun Gong.

Definitions

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a form of Qi-Gong practice (energy cultivation) that aims to cultivate the body and mind through meditation and special exercises that resemble Tai Chi. Where Falun Gong differs from other forms of Qi-Gong practices is in the emphasis not just on the physical but also on the spiritual and moral character of the individual, the Fa (laws and principles).

Translated, Falun Gong literally means "Law-wheel Practice", or "cultivation energy", meaning a type of energy developed and cultivated through practice. Practitioners are guided on their path by several texts written by Falun Gong founder Li Hongzhi, the Zhuan Falun (Turning the Law-Wheel) and many other lectures and articles. The goal is to apply these laws and principles to daily life in pursuit of a personal form of 'enlightenment.' Dan Sky, who organizes group meetings on the McGill campus, says that for him Falun Gong, "is a comprehensive and very personal journey that is based on as Master Li Hongzhi says 'elevation through reason and application.'"

With a critical eye

However, with its recent surge in popularity comes the obvious increase in scrutiny and criticism of its practices. Falun Gong's biggest opposition has come directly from the [Jiang Zemin] government [...].

One of China's main concerns about Falun Gong has been the increasing list of members that could, in their view, pose a risk to the security of all Chinese citizens. They point to the mass demonstration that took place in Beijing at a government compound of around ten thousand Falun Gong supporters who they claim have their eyes on some political objective. To this both Sky and K.W (a Falun Gong student who wishes to remain anonymous) agree that such demonstrations are only a fight for individual human rights. Falun Gong as a political force can never exist because "we have no specific goal to achieve some type of change in society or government."

What most practitioners point to is the strange fact that the Chinese government has yet to provide any evidence of these claims against what they call an "[Jiang Zemin government's slanderous term omitted]". Sky says such misconceptions arise from a lack of understanding of Falun Gong. The key is "to try and learn, otherwise how could one know what it is all about."

One of the most popular impressions that K.W wishes to dispel is that the group has the beliefs and structures of a religion. "The purpose is to cultivate the inner self. We don't rely on any outside messages. It is not religion because there is no ritual, no worship, and nobody preaches."

According to Sky, the problem with such practices is that in the West people have never been exposed to concepts like Falun Gong. In the east, there has been a long history of exposure to forms of cultivation practice schools such as other Qi gong forms and various styles of Kung Fu that have a more developed spiritual element to them. Sky says in defense that "the priciples taught in Falun Dafa are definitely spiritual in nature, but not exactly based on a belief system."

The struggle continues

With all these issues facing Falun Gong their resolve and commitment toward its cultivation remains strong.

KW says that, "The key is to cultivate the heart. To get rid of all desire and attachments and be a better person." The hope is for people to look at Falun Gong with an open mind and see it for what it really is and not what others claim it to be. Whether this can be done or not remains to be seen. Sky says that what they do, "is for validating and verifying the principles of our practice and for letting people know the facts of the (Chinese) [suppression]."

As most Sonoma State University students prepared for turkey and stuffing last week, Brad Carson was being shoved into a police van in Tiananmen Square.

Carson, 20, a theater/psychology major, was among 35 international protesters grabbed by Chinese police seconds into a quiet demonstration over the country's persecution of practitioners of the spiritual movement Falun Gong.

The brief Falun Gong protest was the first in Tiananmen Square mounted entirely by Westerners. Though Chinese defenders of Falun Gong have been killed, imprisoned or locked away in psychiatric hospitals since the movement was banned in China in mid-1999, officials in Beijing reacted to Carson and the other foreigners by detaining them for about 30 hours and then ejecting them from the country.

Carson said he was not hurt during the detention and subsequent interrogations, but he said the Chinese police struck, manhandled and injured some of the others in the group.

Carson, who practices Falun Gong and conducts workshops on the spiritual exercise in Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa, said he made his point during the few seconds between the moment he sat in a lotus position on the vast square and the moment plainclothes police muscled him into a van.

"I went over there to stand up for the truth," said the soft-spoken student, who taught and practiced the meditative martial art tai chi before learning about Falun Gong 18 months ago.

He said he went to China not to make trouble or play politics, but to demonstrate that Falun Gong is a positive practice that in no way warrants the Chinese government's attempts to crush it and to oppress its practitioners.

He and other followers claim that Chinese authorities have killed more than 300 people in its campaign against Falun Gong, and his only recourse "is to just keep telling the truth about what's happening in China."

He said the idea for a peaceful, pro-Falun Gong demonstration in Beijing grew from an international conference of practitioners in July in Washington, D.C.

Some Germans were the first to book flights, Carson said. He said a loose network formed among practitioners in several countries -- among them, the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Israel, Switzerland, Sweden, Britain and France.

Carson said they agreed to meet at 2 p.m. last Tuesday in Tiananmen Square, sit and meditate.

He said thousands of people were visiting the Tiananmen Square area when, at the appointed time, the 35 foreigners gathered near a flagpole. Most sat cross-legged, he said, and four held up a banner that read, "Truth, Compassion and Tolerance," the central values embraced by Falun Gong.

Carson said the Westerners had been watched by Chinese police, who immediately encircled them in seven or eight vans. He said some of the others were beaten before being shoved into the vans.

Carson said he knew he might be placing himself in danger by traveling to China to take a stand for spiritual freedom, but he hoped he would be OK and would make his point.

He said he has no plans to return to China, at least not until the country eases up on Falun Gong.

On November 18, Orlando practitioners took part in the City of Winter Springs Christmas Parade. Since there were other Fa promoting activities taking place at the same time, only six practitioners participated in this parade. Four practitioners held two big banners in the parade while the other two distributed Dafa flyers. Many people asked for flyers and the people that already knew about Dafa wished us good luck. When we reached the stage, the host announced, "It is Falun Gong, Truth-Compassion-Tolerance is what everyone needs." We were happy for his righteous mind. We distributed all of our flyers to people, so we talked to the spectators and answered their questions. When the parade stopped, we would demonstrate one set of the exercises. Thousands of people had the chance to see Dafa at this parade.

On November 22, 2001, Canadian Falun Dafa practitioner, Professor Zhang Kunlun was interviewed by the Houston Falun Dafa Broadcasting Station about the issue of Ms. Teng Chunyan. He pointed out that only what people say when free, and not in jail, can be taken as their true words. He himself was tortured both mentally and physically during his imprisonment in a Chinese jail, and a video about him in a Chinese prison, was secretly recorded.

The World Journal in New York reported on November 21^st about the peaceful appeal in Tianamen Square of 35 western Falun Gong practitioners from 12 different countries, including America, Canada, Australia, and Europe. They were immediately detained by the police and sent back to their respective countries.

The Central News Agency sent out a special fax on November 20^th announcing that 120 Falun Gong practitioners from the San Francisco Bay area gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in San Fransisco to protest Jiang Zemin's regime's criminal detainment of the 35 peaceful western Falun Gong practitioners.

The World Journal reported from Toronto that 23 year old Falun Gong practitioner Zenon Dolnyckyj went to Tiananmen Square to appeal peacefully together with about 33 other Falun Gong practitioners from Canada, Switzerland, Germany, the United States, Great Britain, Australia, etc. Although they themselves were peaceful they were beaten and detained by the police.

ABC News November 21 report: the Chinese government expelled 35 Falun Gong practitioners from Western countries who protested in Tiananmen Square on the previous day. Among them were two Americans who said that some of their friends were beaten by the police.

Asia Freedom Broadcasting Station November 21 report: a Swedish woman, who is a Falun Gong practitioner and was expelled by the Chinese government, arrived in London on Wednesday. She said during an interview that when she was taken to the Tiananmen Police Station, she saw a female Australian practitioner lying on the floor and already passed out.

Radio France Internationale (RFI) report: more than thirty foreigners unfurled Falun Gong banners in Tiananmen Square. RFI interviewed French practitioners and called for a quick and just solution to the Falun Gong issue.

Sweden Daily News November 20 report: seven Swedes were arrested in Beijing. They went to Beijing to protest the death of over 300 Falun Gong practitioners, many of whom suffered long-term torture in Chinese jails.

Falun Gong San Francisco press release: the Western practitioners who appealed in Tiananmen Square and were beaten and arrested were repatriated; the first four arrived at San Francisco International Airport this morning.

Radio France Internationale (RFI) broadcast the news simultaneously to China and the greater Paris metropolitan area: Western practitioners of Falun Gong peacefully protested in Tiananmen Square against the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese government.

A German newspaper reported on Nov 17, 2001: a group of young Chinese people now walking from Berlin to Munich are calling for people's attention to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Review of Overseas News

Hong Kong practitioners appealed to the Chinese government on behalf of the 36 western Falun Gong practitioners detained in Beijing. They called on the Chinese government to immediately and unconditionally release the detained western practitioners as well as all other practitioners who were being detained. They also called for an immediate halt to all forms of persecution directed towards Falun Gong practitioners, whether physical or mental.

On the afternoon of November 20th, Houston Dafa practitioners gathered in front of the local Chinese Consulate and practiced the exercises. They then called upon the Chinese Government to immediately and unconditionally release the detained western practitioners, as well as all the Falun Gong practitioners that are still being detained. They also called on the Chinese Government to stop the persecution of all Falun Gong practitioners.

Practitioners in Sydney, Australia, went to the local Chinese Consulate in spite of the rain. While holding truth-clarifying posters and Dafa banners, they requested that Jiang Zemin's government immediately release the detained Falun Gong practitioners from Australia and other countries, who had staged the peaceful appeal in Tiananmen Square.

Cultivation Stories

A 53-year old woman used to have various diseases and reached a point where she knew she was going to die. She wanted to either live or die, but not go on neither fully alive nor fully able to depart this life. Falun Dafa gave her a second life; however, the evil people sent her into the brainwashing class simply because she practiced Falun Gong.

I benefited from practicing Falun Gong, and my son changed, too. When my husband and I started to practice Falun Gong, my son did not understand us. Upon hearing Teacher Li's audiotapes teaching the Fa, he said, "Teacher Li says things so well. He tells the truth about human beings, life, and the universe." Since then, he seldom lost his temper, became healthier, and was willing to help Dafa disciples.

We should pass tests using our righteous thoughts and wisdom. While we are clarifying the truth and assisting Master to rectify the Fa, the most important thing is that our minds must be right and we must have righteous thoughts. Don't leave a bit of fear in our minds. If we are not afraid, nothing bad will happen. One righteous mind can subdue all the evils.

There is a 66-year old Falun Gong practitioner, who had only one-year of education in a preliminary school. Her experience of validating and safeguarding Dafa is very appealing. She clarified the truth among ordinary working people; she also clarified the truth to neighborhood communities, detention centers and governmental organizations. Eventually, she went to the places that are especially in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong to clarify the truth. She did not encounter any obstruction all along. Her mind is full of the Fa, so she can keep up a constant flow of words while clarifying the truth.

Here is my story of unlocking my email account with determined righteous thoughts. Initially, I kept up sending forth righteous thoughts every day in order to open my email account, but I failed all the time. I found out the fundamental problem was my righteous belief in Dafa was not sufficient. Thus, my righteous thoughts were not that powerful. After this experience, I felt the power of Dafa and how important the righteous thoughts are.

It was our great and benevolent Teacher who helped me to strengthen righteous thoughts: As a Dafa practitioner who used to be imprisoned in the Wanjia Labor Camp and wrote a "guarantee letter," [A letter guaranteeing to give up Falun Dafa] I have awakened and am doubling my effort to make up for the loss and keep up with the Fa-rectification process. I went to Beijing AGAIN to rectify the Fa. During my detention at Daxing County's Detention Center, I held firm, righteous thoughts and was unconditionally released after a 55-day hunger strike.

Latest News From China -- 11/25/2001

Today, 172 people expressed their regrets for having done things a Dafa practitioner should never do. Under great pressure, threats and forced brainwashing at the hands of the evil they have given in. They hereby announce that all their words and actions that didn't conform to Dafa are void. They are determined to continue the cultivation in Dafa and will double their efforts to clarify the truth and eliminate the evil to make up the loss they caused to Dafa.

Yan Feng, a former graduate student at Northeast University published an announcement: All former words and actions against Dafa are completely void! He denounced Jiang Zemin's criminal group for brutally persecuting Falun Dafa, himself and other practitioners, and said his determined attitude toward Dafa cultivation will not change.

A 23-year-old female practitioner in Lanfu City, Shandong Province went to Beijing twice to validate Dafa, and was brutally tortured, and threatened with rape by malicious police in a detention center. Her family was also extorted money and harassed on numerous occasions. In February [of the Chinese lunar calendar] this year, she got out of the demon's den after having been kidnapped and detained for 16 days, and is now roaming about as a homeless person.

Media Reports

According to Central News Agency (LA), the American Falun Gong practitioners talked about their experience of being detained by Chinese police in Tiananmen Square in Beijing. They said that they would go to Tiananmen Square again if possible to call for the authorities in Beijing to stop the persecution of practitioners and restore the legitimacy of Falun Gong.

China Time reported on Nov.23: the three residents of the Bay Area in San Francisco who went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong said that the Chinese policemen were very rough and rude. They even slapped the faces of two female practitioners. The spokesman, Richard Boucher of the U.S. Department of State said in a daily press briefing that the U.S. government "have raised with China on many occasions our concerns over the detentions of persons peacefully exercising internationally recognized rights to freedom of assembly, belief and conscience and we will continue to do that."

Everyday News in Sweden reports: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sweden called in the counselor of political affairs of the Chinese Embassy, Cui Jianchao, and strongly condemned the maltreatment of the nine Swedish practitioners supporting Falun Gong in Beijing, pointing out that it was a serious violation of the Vienna Treaty. Diplomat Sven-Olof Petersson said that the Chinese government's treatment of Falun Gong is ruthless and inhumane.

Mingpao reported on Nov. 23: Sweden called in the Chinese ambassador to protest the treatment 8 Swedish citizens received in China.

Dresten News in Germany reports: Three Chinese Falun Gong practitioners in Germany are walking from Berlin to Munich, hoping to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong taking place in their country. Eight German practitioners went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing yesterday to protest against the persecution.

Lemish, who participated in the protest in Tiananman Square on Nov.20, said that the Chinese policemen hit him in the head and kicked him.

Southwest News Agency in Germany reported that 8 German Falun Gong practitioners who went to Tiananmen Square to demonstrate peacefully flew back to the Frankfurt airport. Two years ago the Chinese Government declared the practice of Falun Gong illegal. Since then many Falun Gong followers have disappeared in Government Transformation Centers or psychiatric hospitals.

On November 25, World Daily reported that according to Ye Ke, who began his practice three years ago, Falun Gong is popular in over 40 countries. He pays great respect to those courageous foreigners who went to Tiananmen Square to support Falun Gong. He urges Jiang Zemin to stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Doing so is against the people's will.

Overseas News Summary

Indonesian Falun Gong practitioner, Chen Wanran was the only practitioner of Chinese descent arrested in Tiananmen Square on November 20. Several plain clothes policemen pushed her to the ground and exposed her film. She said, "This experience further convinced me that the self-immolation incident in Tiananmen Square was fabricated. The video recording showed on China TV could not have been taken by a tourist."

Practitioners in Denmark welcomed home on the afternoon of November 21 the Swedish practitioners who had gone to petition at Tiananmen Square. They were changing planes at the Copenhagen Airport. They also arranged for a press interview.

Practitioners in Tainan City in Taiwan went to Nanning Middle School to HongFa (introducing Dafa to the public) on November 17. More than twenty young practitioners went on stage to send forth righteous thoughts and demonstrate the five exercises of the practice.

On November 18, young practitioners in Taiwan studied the Fa and practiced exercises in a group at the Business School of Taiwan University.
