[Fengxiang County, Shaanxi Province] Stop the Atrocities Against Falun Gong Practitioners at the Zaohezi Forced Labor Camp
It is extremely difficult to be an inmate in Fengxiang County's Zaohezi Forced Labor Camp in Shaanxi Province. Labor Camp officials have instigated common criminals to force practitioners to give up the practice of Falun Dafa. As incentive, they reward the criminals or reduce the sentences of those who torture the practitioners. According to an internal document, the criminals would not be held responsible if they beat Falun Gong practitioners to death. Two criminals are usually in charge of torturing one practitioner. Given these incentives, the drug user and repeat offender inmates often madly beat up practitioners. One practitioner was beaten so severely that he was ill for 5 months. Another practitioner was beaten to the point where he could not sit down or fall asleep. Some practitioners were not allowed to use the bathroom, while some were deprived of their right to sleep. The criminals took turns torturing practitioners. One practitioner was beaten so harshly that he remained unconscious for several days. The wardens even took away the items the practitioners' families sent in.
We call on people from all walks of life to pay close attention to the practitioners' safety in the Zaohezi Forced Labor Camp. We ask the camp authorities to immediately stop the atrocities they are committing against Falun Gong practitioners.

A five-year-old practitioner's mother and grandmother were illegally sent to a forced labor camp for practicing Falun Gong. The policemen did not permit their family members to visit them, except the young practitioner. So the young practitioner took the responsibility to pass Teacher's new articles to people in the labor camp. She had no fear of facing the police. Once, the practitioners were sharing their experiences and mentioned the problem of "fear." She said, "Are we still practitioners if we have fear?" In her mind, there was no concept of fear.
One day the young practitioner took Teacher's new article to her mother. Her mother encouraged her, "Mom cultivates Dafa. You are welcome to be a sentient being in mom's world." The young practitioner answered, "I will not be a sentient being in your world. I will reach Consummation, too."

Later they pushed him into a car and headed to a brainwashing class. That same night they sent people to ransack his home.

At noon on November 27, 2001, when practitioner Yu Wei arrived at the entrance to his residential building, policeman Gu Zhiyong, who had been lurking there for a long time, arrested him and forcibly took him to Weifang City's Guangwen Police Station. On the same day, Yu Wei's parents went to visit him in the police station. They heard Yu Wei shouting, "They beat me!" It was reported that two sticks were broken during the beating.
Several well-prepared plainclothes policemen detained three Weifang City practitioners while they were transporting truth-clarifying literature. Their whereabouts are currently unknown.

I am a high school junior and a Dafa practitioner. One day, the political science class teacher asked every student to prepare a speech to slander Falun Gong. I asked myself, "What should I do? Step forward to validate Dafa or escape from this assignment?" I thought of the teacher scolding me and classmates laughing, but I stepped forward. Because I knew that Dafa gives me everything and that I should safeguard Dafa.
When I spoke out that Falun Dafa is righteous, my classmates warmly applauded. The teacher's expression in his eyes encouraged me to continue. I knew that Master was encouraging me. I clarified the truth about Dafa with all the principles that I learned. My speech won another warm round of applause.
[Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Guangzhou City's "Law-education" School Officials Violently Brainwash Dafa Practitioners
During the past year, the Law-education School has been the place that was used especially for violently brainwashing Dafa practitioners. Most people detained there were forcibly brought in.
Usually, people are forced to write the "four statements," which include statements to "guarantee, repent, renounce and denounce." They have to pass a test, lasting one to three months, and then must be approved by certain levels of officials, including school, work unit, residential, "610 Office" of the district, "610 Office" of the city before being released. (The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems).
Everyone had to pay an "education fee" and living expenses of 3,600 Yuan (The average monthly income in urban China is 500 Yuan). Each practitioner was assigned two "teaching assistants." Each assistant had to pay 3,000-Yuan for living expenses as well. If the work unit could not afford the money or did not want to pay, then the practitioner would be sent to a forced labor camp. Currently, four practitioners are keeping their righteous thoughts and refuse to write the "four statements." They have been forcibly detained for 7, 6, 4 and 3 months, respectively. They have seen other practitioners being sent to forced labor camps. These four practitioners are being closely monitored. They are not allowed to talk with others, and they are locked up in their room and monitored 24 hours a day.
[Huaibei City, Anhui Province] Dafa Practitioners in Huaibei City Brutally Tortured
During October 12 to 15, the High-tech International Forum of Second Grade Cities was held in Huaibei City, Anhui Province. Police started to arrest practitioners at the end of September. Other practitioners in the three districts and the county subsidiaries of the city were closely monitored and not allowed to leave.
According to incomplete reports, since July 20th, 2001 more than 15 practitioners in our district have been sent to forced labor camps and more than 200 practitioners have been illegally arrested. Currently, more than 20 practitioners are still detained. Among them, 6 practitioners from Suixi County were arrested last February and detained for several months.
Since the beginning of 2001, the city police department has encouraged and rewarded the lawless policemen who arrested practitioners. A policeman is rewarded with a certain a number of credits for arresting a practitioner, and one credit is worth 50 Yuan. Tao Changxin, female, director of the Political Defense Department in Xiangshan's police station, in May alone was rewarded 50 credits in only a few days and received 2,500 Yuan. Her name was published several times on Clearwisdom's list of lawless police officers. Under her leadership, this police station was recognized as an "advanced unit" for their "excellent work."
[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Policemen in Longquanyi's Second Detention Center Torture Dafa Practitioners
On the morning of October 13, 2001, four female practitioners who refused to give their names were illegally sent to Chengdu's Second Detention Center and suffered cruel persecution. One young, violent policeman brutally beat one female practitioner. Her face turned dark purple. Her nose and eyes sockets were bleeding and covered with bruises. The policeman stepped on and kicked her head repeatedly with his hard leather boots and poured cold water all over her body. Another practitioner's jaw was beaten and sustained a more than one-inch-long, bleeding cut. Her undergarments were soaked with blood, and she had to wear these bloody clothes for 35 days. After receiving brutal beatings, the four female practitioners were handcuffed behind their backs and forced to put on 50 Jin (about 56 LB) shackles for 35 days. Although they suffered these cruel tortures, their determination never wavered. They insisted on eliminating the evil forces with righteous thoughts. Under their inspiration, practitioners who came in later gradually got rid of their fear and joined them to study the Fa, practice the exercises and eliminate evil with righteous thoughts.
In the beginning the evil forces were rampant. Confronted with righteous thoughts of Dafa practitioners, some kind-hearted policemen often looked at them with tears in their eyes. Criminals also admired practitioners very much and said, "Falun Gong is good." They wanted to learn Falun Gong after being released.
In early November of 2001, a retired professor from the department of Chinese literature in Southwest National College had just come back from the US. He was tricked into opening the door for policemen at midnight one evening. The policemen rushed in and searched his home. The old professor was put into Longquan's Detention Center at 4:00 a.m. A female Tibetan agriculture expert from Tibet's Agriculture College, 54 years old, who used to suffer from breast cancer, is now being detained in Longquan's Detention Center for practicing Falun Dafa.

[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Practitioner is Arrested While Shopping
Dafa practitioner, Xiao Shubi, is a retired worker from the Chengdu Seamless Steel Pipe Factory. She is in her 60's. The Southeast Street Police Station suspended her retirement pension starting on October 200, cutting off her only source of income. On October 24, 2001, she went to the Southeast Street Police Station to ask for her retirement pension. However, police chief Wang Bin refused to pay her any money. When she told Wang not to help the evil and explained to her with Dafa's teachings, Wang still refused. On October 26, 2001, Xiao Shubi was arrested in front of the Datiankan Food Store when she went there to buy flour. She was then sent to Chengdu City's Second Detention Center for 30 days of detention.

[Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Report on Dafa Practitioners Being Tortured in Harbin City 1. Wang Qiuxia, female, 37 years old, lives in #1-2-1, No.71 Building of Boiler Factory in Dongli District in Harbin City. On December 10, 2000, police from the Jin Village Police Station extorted 458 Yuan from her. The responsible person's last name is Zhang. On January 3, 2001, she was extorted out of 5,000 Yuan by the Dongli Police Station. The responsible person was Zhou Chunjie.
On January 21, 2001, policemen Wang Pengzhe and Zhou from the Jin Village Police Station ransacked her house and beat her. In mid April, she was arrested and sent to the Jin Village Police Station and beaten by Political Security Chief Luo and Zhou Chunjie from the Dongli Police Station.
2. Zhu Xiuli, female, 44 years old, lives on Shunshui Street in Xiang District. In February 2000, police from the Xiang District Police Department extorted 3,000 Yuan from her. The responsible person was Liu Yulin.
In September 2000, she was extorted out of 2,000 Yuan. The responsible person was policeman Jia. After she came back from appealing in Beijing, she was laid off and receives a very small pension for living expenses.
[Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Situation of Dafa Practitioners Being Tortured in Shuangcheng City (Continued)
On November 3, 2000, Pan Zhifeng, male, 25 years old, was illegally detained for appealing in Beijing. During his detention, the Political and Legal Secretary, Liu Yufeng, viciously beat him. On November 8, 2000, the local Party Secretary Ma Guangru, policeman Fu Chaoyang, and some others sent him to Shuangcheng City's Second Detention Center for 15 days. He was extorted by the Nongfeng Township Government's Guan Xudong out of 800 Yuan (about 2 months of his salary). Between February 16 and March 16, 2001, Zhao Yuanda, the principal of the middle school, paid 300 Yuan to the police station and asked the police station and government officials to trick Pan Zhifong into going to the police station. He was then sent to Nongfeng Village, which hosted the brainwashing class. The people who illegally arrested him at his house were Gao Yanbin, Guo Laoliu (alias), Zhang Fengxiang, He Weidong, and Wu Lun, etc.
Pan Zhiqiang, male, 30 years old, went to appeal in Beijing on February 27, 2000. He was then forcibly searched in the Shuangcheng City Liaison Office in Beijing. On March 1, 2000, Ma Guangru illegally sent him to Shuangcheng City's Second Detention Center for 29 days. Zhang Guofu from the "610 Office" forced him to pay 3,000 Yuan of bail. On February 16, 2001, ZhaoYuanda, the principal of Nongfeng Township's Middle School, paid another 300 Yuan to Nongfeng Police Station and asked policeman Gao Yanbin to trick him into going to the police station. Furthermore, other policemen followed Gao and went to Pan Zhiqiang's house. Among the policemen were Gao Yanbin, Guo Laoliu (alias), Zhang Fengxiang, He Weidong, and Wu Lun, etc. They asked Pan Zhiqiang to come out and then detained him in Nongfeng Village's brainwashing class for one month. Between March and June 2000, Zhao Yuanda illegally suspended 4,000 Yuan from Pan Zhiqiang's account. From July to October 2000, Zhao also suspended Pan Zhiqiang's salary booklet. Between November 2000 and July 2001, Bai Rendong also illegally withheld more than 4,000 Yuan from him and his salary booklet as well.
