Report from Ireland's Brian Trought, One of the 36 Western Practitioners Who Peacefully Demonstrated at Tiananmen Square
Effects of Tiananmen Appeal in Ireland
Since the appeal on Tianamen Square by 36 Western practitioners, the
situation has changed in Ireland.
Many radio stations and newspaper have highlighted the story. We have also
been able to clarify the truth about the self-immolation on radio. As a result,
hundreds if not thousands of people have been reached and have been given the
chance to understand Dafa and position themselves better in the future.
The attitude of my family has changed from tolerating my work for Dafa to
supporting fully what Dafa practitioners are doing. My sister has even handed
out leaflets in her workplace and offered me help if I needed it.
When I meet some friends, they also want to know about the appeal. It's the
perfect chance to tell them about Dafa and the persecution.
I feel that now more people in Ireland are beginning to know Dafa. Even
though we began slowly with clarifying the truth, now we are trying harder.
We are fully melting into the mighty current of Fa-rectification.
All Particles Together
One event -- on the surface 36 practitioners.
In Reality -- All righteous particles
participate in eliminating evil.
After, the situation changes.
Family and friends show support and respect,
respect for Dafa. A better position is gained.
Media report all - papers, radio.
Thousands touched by the deeds,
The deeds of 100 million.
Letter To the Editor
My name is Brian Trought. I was one of the 36 western Falun Gong
practitioners who went to Tiananmen Square to appeal against the mistreatment of
Falun Gong practitioners.
As you know, many newspapers have reported the event and each has done so
from its own point of view. I would like to take this opportunity to tell people
about the appeal in my own words.
Every time I read a story about Falun Gong practitioners in China going to
Tiananmen Square to appeal, I truly admire their courage. I also feel saddened
that these magnificent people are forced to endure inhuman torture for doing
this. My going to Tiananmen was certainly not on par with these Falun Gong
practitioners.
In my heart, I knew that I was doing the correct thing. But I also knew that
I had the security of 'home' to come back to. In China, they don't have this --
they give up everything because they believe in a principle. They stand up
peacefully and nobly, but time and again get persecuted. I wanted people to
clearly see this.
Instead, I have been told that it was wonderful that I "stood up for
something." Yes, I stood up-- I stood up because I wanted to let people
know "Falun Gong is good." I stood up for those who are forbidden from
saying these words.
I feel it a shame that it has taken 36 Westerners to journey thousands of
miles to Tiananmen Square before everyone turned and began to question the
persecution against Falun Gong. Every day more Falun Gong practitioners appeal
on Tiananmen Square, every day more heroes steps forward--and every day we turn
our backs and forget them.
I hope that their courage will touch people's heart and awaken people's
conscience. This persecution has to end.
Warmest Regards,
Brian. Posting date: 12/10/2001
