MP Joe Higgins T.D Calls on the Irish Government to Intensify its Efforts to Gain the Release of Zhao Ming and End the Persecution of Falun Gong in China

I again call on the Taoiseach Mr. Bertie Ahern and the Irish Government to step up protests and representation for the immediate release of Zhao Ming in prison for nothing but his ideas.

I have already addressed this issue in the Dail at Taoiseach's question time. I pointed out to the Taoiseach that if Chinese Premier Rongji was invited here, he should give immediate assurances that the persecution of the Falun Gong would end forthwith.

I again call on the Government to act and to compel the E.U. to act in this regard.
