Cultivation Enlightenment: Perseverance

One day, a Dafa practitioner was distributing materials in front of a Chinese restaurant patronised by tourists. As it happened, many visitors from China were leaving the restaurant at the time, and before long, all the Dafa materials were gone. However, quite a few missed out. The tour guide, whom the practitioner had never met before, walked up to her and said, "Would you like to take a ride with us on the bus and tell them more about it?" The practitioner gladly boarded the bus and on the way back to their hotel, started to clarify the truth about what has been happening in China. The bus finally stopped at the hotel, which happened to be near my home. The practitioner quickly came to see me, picked more materials and hurried back to the hotel.

The receptionist at the hotel was unusually kind. She handed the practitioner a list of Chinese tourists staying at the hotel and their room numbers. The person opening the door of the first room we knocked on appeared to be a cadre. He said, "Do you know what I do back in China? I am responsible for arresting Falun Gong practitioners." The practitioner immediately replied with a stern manner, "The practitioners you caught are all good people. They live according to the principles ofá 'Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance.' I am sure you know the heavenly principle of good being rewarded with good and evil meeting with evil. We hope you will treat them kindly in the future. It would be good for you. It truly is this way." The man's attitude softened. "Go away," he replied weakly in a barely audible voice, "I will not read those materials." Just as Teacher has said in his article, "Dafa is Indestructible," "...Clarify the truth thoroughly, eliminate the evil with righteous thoughts, save all beings, and safeguard the Fa with determination, because you are a part of Dafa, indestructible; rectify all that is not righteous. Those who are 'reformed' and those who are being saved can only be beings deceived by the evil. Those who are being eliminated are the evil beings and the evil old forces. Those who are reaching Consummation through all this are Dafa disciples; and through all this Dafa's mighty virtue is established."

We knocked on a few more doors, but they refused to open. We asked ourselves, "Shall we continue?" We decided that we should. Whether they select to open or not is their choice. In the end, about half of the people opened their doors and accepted the material. Along the hallway of one level, we met a few Chinese people. After accepting the materials from us, they said, "Along the way in Europe, we met Falun Gong practitioners everywhere, but we did not accept their materials. Today, you have come up to our hotel room, and I can see that you are determined." The practitioner replied, "We hope you will take a good look at these materials. Try to see the facts rationally and make a correct judgment on Falun Gong." Walking out of the hotel, we exchanged views about our performance today. Almost simultaneously, two of us said together, "I remember now what Teacher had once said about perseverance."
