[Beijing] Falun Dafa Materials Fly from Overpasses on Third-Ring Boulevard A police friend revealed that since 2:00 p.m. today (lunar year January 2), a large number of Falun Dafa flyers have been distributed from major overpasses along the Third-Ring Boulevard including those located at Beitaiping Zhuang, People's University, Aeronautics University, Gongzhu Fen, Yuquang Ying, Muxi Yuan, Fang Zhuang, National Trade Center, Sanyuan, etc. There will be armed police guarding all the overpasses on the Boulevard tonight. My window overlooks Dazhongsi Overpass where I can see several police patrolling. [Zhangping City, Fujian Province] List of Police Persecutors The police bureau of Zhangping City, Fujian Province abuses and violates the law to imprison local practitioners without any legal cause in order to conduct the so-called "reformation." The police also detain family members of practitioners who manage to elude the police dragnet, who apparently "disappear." This is a severe violation of civil and human rights. They persecute the practitioners' relatives, which have a far-reaching impact in deterring practitioners to step forward. We call upon people from all walks of lives to lend a helping hand to stop the Zhangping police's crimes. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] "The Sound of the Universe" Heard at Detention Center On January 1 of the Lunar Year, practitioners installed several loudspeakers near the Zibo City Detention Center. At 9 p.m. in the evening, the speakers played the "sound of the universe," which effectively deterred oppressive forces and encouraged the practitioners in the detention center. [Hengyang Hunan Province] Authorities Unlawfully Arrest Practitioners before Spring Festival January 22 and 23, 2001 (28^th and 29^th of December 2000 of the Lunar Year), are the Spring Festival holidays. During this festive season, Hengyang City police started another round of the brutal crackdown on practitioners. Police entered practitioners' homes around midnight several days in a row, rounding up the practitioners and taking them away. The practitioners, except for those who were away from their homes or staying with friends, were all arrested. It is said that the police bureau planned to conduct "reformation" on those who had gone to Beijing once before, or had not signed a repentance letter, or had been firm in the right to practice. It is not clear what else the police are going to do to the practitioners that they have detained, therefore, we would like kind-hearted people to be aware of the situation. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Cruelties Run Rampant before Spring Festival During the first Spring Festival of the new century, Jiang Zemin made yet another futile effort to suppress practitioners in order to show the people that the nation is in peace. The majority of practitioners in and around the Suining region were visited and searched by police late at night two days before the Spring Festival. Police and officials from the city government took the practitioners away and seized property from their homes. In some townships and villages, such as Lanjiang, authorities fined practitioners ?,000 (annual income is about ?,000 in urban areas and ?,000 in rural areas) if they found Dafa books in their homes. In some places, such as Dongchan, authorities had Dafa-slanderous banners and posters put up at major intersections during the Festival. The city TV channel also openly defamed Falun Dafa. Some of the practitioners were jailed, and some of them are being "reformed" in the forced study sessions. The Spring Festival is a holiday when families get together to celebrate. Falun Dafa practitioners were unable to take part in the festivities because the authorities were holding them. Their relatives are very angry at the authorities. If no one at the high level inside the Chinese communist party steps forward to stop Jiang Zemin's craziness, the government controlled by the party will lose the trust of the people and the government will be very close to its demise. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Dozens of Practitioners Arrested during Spring Festival In the rounding up during the Spring Festival, Jinzhou City police arrested several dozen practitioners, most of whom were 'turned in' by members of the general public. We warn every practitioner that when non-practitioners visit, we must be very careful to whom we disclose that we have Dafa materials if we are to avoid arrest. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Labor Camp Warden Brutally Tortures Practitioners Wang Jiayong, a male of about 52 years old, is a villager from Dashang Village, Wang Cun Township of Zibo City. He used to be a clerk working for Wang Chu Aluminum Mine. Recently he was transferred to work in the criminal detention center. Now, he is the leader at the 3^rd branch of the precinct, and is in charge of more 400 practitioners detained in his center, the Labor Camp at Wang Village, Zibo City. All the more experienced senior police officers were transferred away and replaced with young ruffians who punch, kick and tie people up, serving Jiang Zemin well. They ignore the law and brutally torture imprisoned practitioners. They know that their acts are not to be exposed to the general public, so they have a strong secret code. What they do in each branch is kept secret even from the other two branches. It is in fact a concentration camp. Wang Jiayong and other guards have tried all they can think of to make practitioners suffer. Wang became the leader in the 3^rd branch for his effort in "reforming" the practitioners. [Shandong Province] Thugs Enter Civilian Home without Warrant One morning in the year of 2000, police precinct for Xingfu Township, Yantai City, Shandong Province sent two police officers to the home of a practitioner. They entered the house and found Master Li's portrait on the wall, and immediately left. Very shortly thereafter, Yu Shujian, the First Division Chief of Yantai Police Department, Zhihuan District, led a dozen police officers to enter the house without a warrant. They took the portrait down, but the practitioner bravely grabbed it back and said to the police, "Why do you enter into a private home and seize personal property? Do you have any paperwork?" Yu replied shamelessly, "I can get whatever paperwork you want!" It is outrageous that a Police Division Chief would do and say something like that just because he has the power. The practitioner was protecting the portrait by holding it in front of her chest tightly. Yu ordered the police to take the portrait by force. The police seized the practitioner, her sister and sister-in-law and twisted their arms behind their backs, forcing them down to the floor. They finally tore away the portrait and arrested the practitioner. Her mother fainted at the scene and her father, who is over 80 years old, was shaking with anger. Her son cried loudly. The front door was open then and many neighbors saw the police brutality. They were shocked and angry. How could they call themselves "people's police"? They are the same as bandits. The practitioner's brother later found Yu Shujian and asked him why he arrested his sister. Yu said rudely, "You can sue me as you please!" Those police, however, forgot one thing, "Justice has a long arm; the guilty can never escape Heaven's justice." They have to pay for their crimes sooner or later. The practitioners are: Li Hong, Liu Hong, Bu Lingqin, Song Qi and her sister, Yang Pinggang, Jia Yuefu, Song shengli, Li Haomai, Xiao Zhengbao, Gu Jing, and more. A large number of practitioners in Tai'An went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa before the Festival, leading a few police officers whose duty it was to prevent this to receive punishment from their superiors. Now, the police will arrest and detain practitioners if they have gone to Beijing or even if they simply are found to have Falun Dafa materials in their possession. [Yiyang City, Hunan Province] Yiyang City Arrests over 100 Practitioners Beginning in December 2000, authorities in Yiyang City, Hunan Province, organized a campaign against practitioners and arrested about 100 of them, including Bu Jianming, Chen Lijun, Chen Jinglian and many others whose names we don't yet know. In January 2001, local police arrested Guo Mingqui, a Falun Dafa practitioner, and took away from his home everything that could be taken away. [Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province] Police Authority Unlawfully Jails 12 Practitioners for Two Months [Henan Province] Father and Son Are Arrested in Huabei Oil Field Mr. Tang (first name cannot be ascertained), Deputy Assistant of Langfang Assistance Station of the Huabei Oilfield, and Tang Chaodun, his son, were arrested at home by the police from the First Well-Drilling Precinct on January 25, 2001 (January 2 of the Lunar year). They were transferred to the Yan Qiu City Police Bureau the following day. The arrest might have been resulted from their refusal to attend the "transformation" session a month ago. It is said that the police in charge of the Falun Dafa matter in the oil field reads Minghui net everyday. Therefore, we would like to say something to those law enforcement officers: Believe it or not, those who participate in the persecution of the practitioners shall be punished severely by Heaven. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Examples of How Practitioners Are Tortured Hong Weisheng, a male practitioner from Wuhan City, has a high school education. He worked for Wuhan Assistant Center between 1994 and 1995 and also served as an Assistant at Hankou branch. Hong was arrested for organizing practitioners to share their experience, promoting the Fa in Hunan, Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and other provinces, and photocopying Dafa materials. Mr. Hong was sentenced to 4 years in prison in January 2001. Hou Aila, his wife, was also arrested in November 2000 for unknown reasons. She was an Assistant, too. Hong Rongren, their daughter is a freshman in high school, and is in financial difficulty as a result of her parents' arrest. Chen Guangyuan is a male practitioner from Wuhan. He is 50 years old and was an Assistant. Chen was arrested in March 2000 for organizing cultivation experience sharing among local practitioners, photocopying Dafa materials and going to Hunan to organize experience sharing for the practitioners there. In January 2001, he was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Wang Guijiao, his 48-years-old wife, is also a practitioner who went to Beijing to protest her husband's arrest and criminal sentence. She was arrested and is now being held at a female detention facility. Their young daughter and elderly parents are left at home in extreme financial difficulties. [Beijing] Two Practitioners Arrested Handing Out Flyers about the Truth of Falun Dafa Xu Xin, is a 30-year old female practitioner from Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. She was arrested while distributing flyers telling the truth about Falun Dafa in Zhongguancun, Beijing on November 2, 2000. She was detained at the Qinghe Detention Center. She was transferred to the 7^th Branch of Beijing Police Bureau on December 8, 2000, located at 44 Banbuqiao Street. It is said that Xu will be given a harsh sentence. Xu has been a very determined practitioner thoughout the Fa-rectifying process, which in turn inspired fellow practitioners. Xu has behaved dignified and righteously in jail and remains unconquerable by the cruel jailors. She keeps telling the truth about Falun Dafa to people in her prison. Cao Jing, a 34-year old female practitioner from Beijing, was arrested while putting up Dafa posters in December, 2000. Her family was somehow able to get her out a few days later. Now, Cao Jing is being held illegally at Qinglongqiao Mental Hospital in Haidian District, Beijing. [Beijing] Wang Ning, a Practitioner from Beijing, Is Arrested Wang Ning, a Beijing practitioner, was forced to leave his home before the Spring Festival in order to avoid arrest. On January 23, 2001, Jiao Fangyi, a police officer sent by the Enjizhuang Precinct to "transform" Wang Ning, was unable to locate him. Jiao complained to another practitioner that he would put on his army cotton coat and stay up in Tiananmen Square for the whole night just in case Wang would go there. The practitioner was deceived by Jiao and told Wang Ning what Jiao had said. Wang Ning felt compassion toward Jiao and went back home to see him. Jiao immediately arrested him. We hope that practitioners all over the country shall not be similarly deceived. Wang Ning was detained several times for continuing his cultivation in Falun Dafa. He has been fired by his work unit. It is said that the government is going to launch another round of brutal persecution to "transform" practitioners. The current situation of Wang Ning is unclear. We don't know how his case will turn out, thus, we hope that kind-hearted people will show their concern however they can.
