An Outsider's View on the Self-Immolation on Tiananmen Square


Hi:

I am not a follower, nor am I Chinese. However, I am interested in what really happened in Tiananmen Square. As I understand it, several of the victims (martyrs) have died and the others are in a high class hospitals. I have two thoughts:

  1. Why would they put these people in high class hospitals, when in the past they have sent them to labor camps?
  2. If the survivors live, which they should, will they speak of the incident? I believe that if the incident was fabricated, some of the survivors will be disillusioned by the reward-suffering ratio and speak out about what were the real motives behind the Self-Immolation. If they all die, I believe that it is too clean and probably fabricated.

Just an outsider looking in.
