Toronto Practitioners Spread Dafa to Neighboring Cities
Practitioners in Toronto On the Western US Experience Sharing Conference on October 21, 2000, Master
Li said: "I'd like to take this opportunity to really thank the various
levels of government in the United States and Canada for the honors they've
bestowed upon us and upon me! (Applause) Under this special circumstance, I
can't thank them individually, but I will bring them a wonderful future."
After the main stream society in Canada began to know more about Falun Dafa,
more and more kind-hearted Canadians have recognized the value of
Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance that is promoted in Falun Dafa. During the
New Year and Lunar New Year period, more than 50 cities and towns in Ottawa,
Great Vancouver Area, and the Province of Ontario have proclaimed "Falun
Dafa Week", "Falun Dafa Day",
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Day" and sent us congratulation
letters.
To let more people know the truth about Falun Dafa, practitioners in
Toronto grouped up 5 or 6 teams to spread Dafa in the cities that proclaimed
Dafa.
1. We should actively tell people about Dafa instead of waiting people to
come.
On January 28, 2001, seven of us arrived at the Township of Uxbridge.
It was Sunday with light snow and not many people were on the street. We
came to the library and set up the seminar room... etc. We were there to
promote Dafa and could not just wait there for people to come. We should
actively let people know. There was a theater around and when people came out
from the theater, practitioners took this opportunity to give them newspapers.
Some showed interest ... During that period of time, more than 30 local
residents had come to the introduction seminar in the library. They watched
Master's Exercise Teaching Tape and were attracted by the atmosphere and the
exercises. At that same time, a practitioner whose English was not fluent
collected 70 signatures on the nearby street in about one hour.
2. Since the Chinese government is against it, it must be good. I should
take a look.
When we held an introduction session in the library of the Township of
Uxbridge on January 27, two media came to interview us. One of the reporters
told us: "That day when I was with our editor and just finished reading
the report about Falun Gong on Toronto Star [a Toronto newspaper], we
received your Fax. I thought since the Chinese government is against it, it
must be good. I must check it out."
This reporter agreed with the importance of people's appeal for and support
of justice. He quoted words from a German reporter persecuted by the Nazi in
World War II: "When they came to our city, I thought it had nothing to do
with me and I said nothing. When they came to our street, I thought it had
nothing to do with me and I said nothing. When they came to my neighborhood, I
thought it had nothing to do with me and I said nothing. When they came to
take me, there was no one to say anything for me either."
After we finished the introduction session in the library on the 27th,
we drove alone to their main streets, restaurants, and big stores and gave
people Dafa newspapers and our workshop schedules so that people who are
interested in could contact us.
From this activity, we concluded some experiences about spreading the Fa in
small towns:
