[XX, China] Recent Instructions from "610" Organization
Recently, the leader of our work unit informed us of a new policy from a meeting with "610" organization. ("610" is a nationwide organization that was established on or around the date June 10, 1999 specifically for the suppression and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.)
The new policy from "610" emphasized that in order to prevent Falun Gong practitioners from appealing in Beijing, local authorities can resort to any measure. When discussing the specific methods, the instructions emphasized to be "hard" which means that the practitioners should be beaten hard and that there is no need to talk with them anymore. Even being injured or killed, the Falun Gong practitioners have no place to appeal. The Beijing central government is backing the suppression.
From the policy we can see that the present persecution of Falun Gong is the most horrible and violent in history. Heavenly principles will not allow the use of the most terrible and violent methods to suppress the most honest and compassioned people.
[XX city, China] Practitioners Send New Year's Greetings to the Teacher
On Chinese New Year's day, practitioners from a certain city used their action to express their greetings to the Teacher who lives afar.
On that day, practitioners made 20 sets of loudspeakers and set them up amongst popular places in the downtown area and used them to broadcast articles clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. They also went to Changle Forced Labor Camp and broadcast New Year's Greetings from the Teacher to the practitioners inside, greatly encouraging them.
Besides this, they hung many banners about Falun Dafa in streets and narrow lanes. There were also many painted banners on the walls that let people know the truth about Dafa. They sent a lot of balloons to the villages in the countryside with truthful statements about Dafa written on them.
[XX City, China] Practitioners Step Forward to Validate Dafa during Chinese New Year Holidays
Before the Chinese New Year, authorities from a certain city arrested over 30 practitioners. In order to suffocate the unjust and cruel forces, more practitioners stepped forward to validate Dafa. Here are some photos taken from streets and residential communities.

There are also over 40 associate degree students whose names are unknown.
Sources say that due to the arrest of the above-mentioned practitioners, some classes are not being taught. The university leaders are in negotiation with public security departments to bail out practitioners. However, the police want to punish these people as an example, since police think these people have played a guiding role among universities and colleges in the entire city.

[Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Nanchang City Arrests Dafa Practitioners
On the evening of January 15, Nanchang City started another round of mass arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. Many practitioners were taken away by police and forced to attend the so-called "transformation class." Practitioners who could not be transformed were sentenced to forced labor. Some practitioners have been put under house arrest by their work units. In addition, some practitioners were forced to flee their homes and yet they continue their work of telling the truth of Dafa to people.
[Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Yueyang Police Station Tortures Dafa Practitioners
A list of tortures used against Dafa practitioners by Junshan District Police Station in Yueyang City, Hunan Province: Water dungeon; using a hot iron club to burn the flesh, handcuffing from the back and then hanging people and beating them, etc. Dafa local contact person, Li Lianchun, female, 68 years old was one of the practitioners being tortured there. Five people took turns beating her using wide clubs; each person beat her for 1 hour. She is still detained although her relatives do not know where.
[Weifang City, Shandong Province] The Responsible Person, Wang Ying, Who Mistreats Falun Gong Practitioners in Weifang City, Shandong Province
Wang Ying, female, about 50 years old, section chief of Public Order Section of Weifang City Police Station.
Since July 20, 1999, this accomplice of Falun Gong persecutors, started to arrest Falun Gong practitioners in the Weifang Liaison Office in Beijing. She beat and otherwise abused practitioners at will and seized the practitioners' personal possessions by force. All the people present felt ashamed of her filthy language and behavior.
[Weifang City, Shandong Province] Retribution for Committing Crimes: Director of Beijing Liaison Office of Weifang City Zhu Jinde Dies of Cancer
Zhu Jinde, male, 47 was the resident of Yi County, Weifang City, Shandong Province. He was the former vice secretary of Weifang City government. Since Jiang Zemin's suppression of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Zhu Jinde was appointed to be the director of the Liaison Office of Weifang City in Beijing and was in charge of persecuting Dafa practitioners. Recently, he received retribution for his crimes.
Zhu Jinde was notorious for his cruel torture of Falun Gong practitioners. In the Beijing Liaison office, he once handcuffed Dafa practitioners to the leg of flower-stand to deprive them of sleep. There was a big porcelain vase on the flower-stand. If practitioner moved a little, the vase would fall on their heads. He also beat practitioners until their faces became swollen and they had bruises all over their bodies. He viciously abused practitioners. He ordered the policemen of the Beijing Liaison Office to arrest practitioners who came to Beijing to appeal and took them back to the Liaison Office. He ordered the policemen to strip off their clothes, steal their money and personal possessions, and impose huge fines on them. He did not give any receipt for these misappropriations and spent the money freely on his own pleasure. He also lied in saying that he turned over the money to higher authorities; actually he kept the money for himself.
Because of these misdeeds, he was rewarded and got a promotion from associate-county level to county level. Right at the time he was about to take up his new official position, he was diagnosed with cancer. When his boss told him about his promotion, he was depressed and said, "It is meaningless now, even if I were promoted to be the mayor."
After Zhu Jinde died, the kind-hearted people in Weifang City spread the word and thanked heaven for eliminating such a bad person for the sake of mankind. Even Zhu Jinde's relatives, friends and co-workers all said that his death would not be sufficient to expiate all his crimes. 
[XX city, China] Falun Gong Materials Can Be Seen Everywhere during Chinese New Year
From January 1st to 4th (on the lunar calendar) we received many Falun Gong materials in our mailbox. The corridors of our building had many posted banners stating, "Falun Dafa is Good!" and "Falun Dafa is Righteous". There were also small cards with the printed Internet address of Minghui Net. The neighboring buildings and the residential area of a factory also had those materials.

The policemen of Xinyang police sub-station of Daoli district went to all residential buildings under their jurisdiction with forms titled "Fight Falun Gong to the End" and forced every person over 18 years old to express an attitude and sign their name. Some residents were afraid of being involved in trouble if they didn't express the attitude required by the government so they signed the names of all family members against their will. Some residents didn't even see the content of the Form and just signed the form so the policeman would leave and not bother them.

[Xi'an City, Shanxi Province] University Professor Sentenced to Labor Camp for Practicing Falun Gong
Professor Xing Wenzhen of No.504 Teaching and Research Office in the Airplane Manufacturing Department of Northwest Industrial University was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor for insisting on practicing Falun Gong.
[Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Over 80 Practitioners Detained in a Labor Camp
According to reliable sources, there are over 80 practitioners detained in Qingdao City Forced Labor Reeducation Center. Over 20 of them were residents of Qingdao City who were transferred back from Wangchun Forced Labor Reeducation Center.
During the Chinese New Year holidays, visits from relatives were allowed only after approval from Zhu Guangchang, the Chief of the Administration Department.

[Northern China] Heroic Return after a Month Long Detainment for Safeguarding the Fa
A Dafa practitioner in a northern China city went to Beijing to safeguard the Fa and endured all kinds of torture and misery without revealing his name or address. This practitioner was released eventually. The leaders in his work unit pretended to be ignorant of his arrest. As though nothing were wrong, they did not log a single of day of his absence throughout the whole month and paid his salary and bonus in full. Police in the local sub-station were upset when they found the practitioner's absence. As soon as they heard about the practitioner's return, they came to pay a visit. This Dafa practitioner told them solemnly, "I have endured everything myself and have implicated no one, not even you police. What else have you to say? !" In admiration the police replied, "Please don't mention this event to anyone else." And they then left politely and never came to bother the practitioner again.
[Xinji City, Hebei Province] News from Xinji City
Local officials of Xinji City made a promise during the Spring Festival season to do everything they could to prevent practitioners from going to Beijing. When a leading official of this city was attending the "Xinji City Investment Trade Show" in Beijing, he heard that local Dafa practitioners were walking to Tiananmen. This official did not know what to do, and fled the trade show because he feared that provincial officials would reprimand him. It is clear how much pressure these officials are facing and what embarrassing and difficult situations they are in.
[Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] News from Harbin
Nowadays police in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province send all practitioners who have been escorted back from Beijing to the mental hospital north of the river. The details have been kept secret.
Jiang Shuhua, senior judge of the People's High Court of Heilongjiang Province, was demoted during the second half of last year for persevering in practicing Falun Dafa. Jiang was arrested in December, 2000 when going to Beijing for Fa rectification and remains in custody in the Second Detention Center.
Persecution of Senior Intellectuals by Perverse Forces in Heilongjiang Province
Near the end of last October, Dafa practitioners in Harbin distributed Dafa materials from high rise buildings. In early November, Dafa practitioners were arrested in succession. First it was a driver and the driver's mother; next was Li Weiguo, Zhang Zidong, and Lu Shiping. Police tortured them by hanging them up and shocking them with stun batons. Various police sub-bureaus selected over 20 people to form a special ཇ.01 task force', specifically to intensify their effort in capturing practitioners.
In the first 10-day period of last November, police officers illegally broke into a Dafa practitioner's home, forcibly confiscated a full carload of Dafa books, tapes, and CD's this practitioner had retained under life-threatening circumstances since July 22, 1999. This practitioner remains in custody .
In the last 10-day period of the month, practitioner Sun Yufeng from the Gas Turbine Factory was arrested. The police hung him up, whipped him, struck him with charged electric batons, and tortured him with other means. Zhang Chuanduo was also arrested at the same time. His situation is currently unknown.
Doctor Liu Xiaolong and Doctor Han Li from Harbin Normal University (regarded as participants in the important case by police) were arrested simultaneously in Beijing and sent back to Harbin. The details are not available at the moment.
Late December, in Harbin Institute of Technology, Wang Yuezhu, Professor and advisor to Ph.D. candidates and member of the political consultative conference, Dai Jingming, Ph.D, candidate advisor, Professor Wu Wenfang, Instructor Zhou Hua, and Instructor Yang Maohua were all arrested upon approval from the provincial public security bureau for financially supporting Fa-spreading activities. Among them, Yang Maohua was arrested and escorted back from Beijing when filing an appeal and is currently in custody in the Second Municipal Detention Center. As of now, one Ph.D. candidate advisor was released, and another professor is on bail pending judgment. There is no information on the others.
Since late last November, associate professors, Ph.D. candidates, instructors, undergraduate students who went to Beijing to file appeals or who stepped forward to clarify the truth are listed as follows:
