Learning and Improving at the Boston Falun Dafa Conference

[Minghui Net] The Third Boston Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference was held on March 10^th, 2001. It was snowing outside, yet nearly 200 practitioners and guests from the New England area gathered in a big classroom at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Many attendees were Western practitioners who had just started practicing. About 20 practitioners, two thirds of whom were Westerners, shared their experiences.

Every article was deeply touching. One elderly lady from China who came here to visit her relatives had read articles about Falun Gong in our newspapers that were totally different from the propaganda in China. Therefore, she was eager to know more about Falun Gong. After reading Zhuan Falun one night without a break, she knew that she had found the truth and that her trip to America was to attain Dafa. Upon her return to China, she intended to "take every opportunity to clarify the truth and expose the evil to her relatives, her friends, and the people around her." A new practitioner talked about two big turning points in her life. She told of her journey from the religious beliefs of everyday people to cultivation in Dafa, from individual cultivation to Fa rectification, from being reactive to being proactive, and her experiences helped other new practitioners understand the meaning of being a particle of Dafa. Many practitioners talked about breaking the shell of old concepts during cultivation in the rectification of Dafa. Other practitioners came to understand that they should not follow the path arranged by the old forces by focusing on the tribulations they experienced while applying for visas to go to conferences in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The snowstorm had stopped by noon, so the practitioners held a group practice in front of the MIT student center. The MIT newspaper, Techs, reported this activity with photographs.

That evening and during the entire following day, practitioners studied Teacher's new article in the classrooms at MIT. They had deep discussions on topics such as how to understand stepping forward, how to improve in Dafa, and how to eliminate those unrighteous thoughts that cannot follow the rectification of Dafa. They also shared their opinions on how to further clarify the truth, expose the evil, and offer salvation to people in the New England area. Practitioners who participated in the conference felt that in this harmonious environment, they improved overall.
