(1) Practitioner Feng Yuqiu, female, 49-year-old, is a teacher at No. 25 Middle School in Qili County of Shulan City, Jilin Province. She was arrested during her appeal for Falun Dafa in Beijing in December of 2000, was subsequently sent to Jingjing jail in Shijiazhuang City of Hebei Province, and was detained there. Because she did not give her name to the authorities, the police bruised and bloodied her face and hands using electric stun batons. They pulled her hair so hard that she only had about one inch of hair roots left. They additionally tortured her by forcing her to kneel down on a concrete floor, placing a wooden stick on her calves, with two 75-kg [about 165 lb.] men standing on the each end of the stick. While they interrogated her, they used excessive pressure to the stick on her legs until she could not bear any more torture. After briefly releasing, they then stood on the stick placed on her calves again, for 3 times. Afterwards, her feet became so swollen, they looked misshapen. Her calves had become so swollen that she could not take off her underpants. She was unable to move her legs and had to be carried back to her jail cell. In order for her to go to the bathroom, she had to inch forward, a bit at a time. Even so, they still sentenced her to one-year of forced labor. We could not imagine how she was able to bear the toil from the strenuous labor when she was in such a bad condition.

(2) Practitioner Wang Yanfang is a 33-year-old female farmer in Qingsong Town of Shulan City, Jilin Province. She was arrested in December of 2000 after she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. She was taken back and put into the detention center of Shulan City. The local government of Qingsong Town sent people to search her house. Like common robbers, they broke the door down to her house and blatantly stole rice and other grain as well as hogs and cows. There was nothing valuable left. Only an empty house remained. Wang Yanfang is currently serving a 2-year sentence of forced labor. Her husband also insisted on practicing Falun Gong. The police are now trying to arrest him. His present whereabouts are unknown. Their relatives had to take in and care for their baby.

(3) Bian Hongxiang is a Falun Gong practitioner in Shulan City, Jilin Province. He was sentenced to 2-years forced labor, after having been arrested for possession of Dafa flyers in January 2000. He was held in Huanxiling Labor Camp in Jilin City. Due to his long-term diarrhea in the labor camp, his body became very weak. In September 2000, the administration of the labor camp gave him permission for a stay at home to seek medical treatment. While he was still very weak, one day in December, the labor camp suddenly sent people to forcibly take him back to the labor camp. They said that they had heard of him conducting Falun Gong propaganda activities during his stay at home. But they could not provide any evidence. On the way of transporting him back to the labor camp, in the car, two police officers, Liu and Song, beat and verbally abused him, and forced him to confess. But their evil conduct was in vain. One day in January 2001, two young policemen from the Beichang local police station in Shulan City went to the labor camp to question Bian Hongxiang. They used all illegal means at their disposal to frame Bian Hongxiang, fabricating events and using torture to force him to admit that the Dafa flyers found at practitioner Yang Guoshu's home was delivered by him. He refused to admit this, so they started to beat him on his head and face. A few hours later Bian still refused to confess. They threatened him viciously: "When you come back to Shulan we will torture you to death. If you resist any further, we will torture your mother (over 80 years old) and your wife (both are practitioners) to death."

(4) Before the New Year eve, the No. 1 Unit of Jilin Province Police Department set up checkpoints at several train stations in Jilin City, Changchun City and other cities in Jilin Province to conduct illegal, random searches on passengers. People who did not carry their identification cards had to defame the founder of Falun Dafa, in order for them to pass the checkpoints. Otherwise, they would be detained and forced to tell their home addresses. People who did not cooperate would be put into a small room, handcuffed [with one hand stretching up from one side and the other stretching down from the other shoulder] threatened and forced to tell their address. Then they would be transferred to their local police stations and would be sentenced or detained there.

(5) After 9 am on December 12, 2001, six policemen from Beichang local police station in Shulan City illegally broke into and searched Dong Haifen's home. When Dong Haifen asked them for the search warrant, they said: "We do not need to have it and we can do whatever we want to." Without finding anything, policeman Li Zhuo took a roll of material out of his own pocket and said: "What is this?" He was trying to frame Dong. Dong asked for justice. Still, the police took Dong Haifen to the police station to interrogate her, but did not get anything. After being held for 24 hours, she was released under the request and efforts of her family and relatives. Before releasing her, policeman Zhu Zhao told Dong Haifen: "Right now you people do not have human rights; we can do whatever we want to you."

(6) A middle school student, Li Ji, was forced to withdraw from school for practicing Falun Gong. Here is what happened: After the new semester started, the school officials put Li Ji under house arrest at the school, for fear that Li Ji would go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. She was not allowed to go home, or to stay alone with her parents. She was under surveillance 24 hours a day. In the evening, she was not allowed to sleep in her dormitory with other students. She was only 15 years old and the school's actions had hurt her both mentally and physically. She could not concentrate on her studies, so she had to quit school. On March 9, 2000, teacher Liu Cuihua came to Li Ji's home to get the consensus from the parents on their child's withdrawal from school. The parents did not understand the reason. The teacher said: "We can do anything to you Falun Gong practitioners..." On March 10, 2000, without having any choice, Li Ji had to withdraw from the school. The school had only been in session for 9 days. Even so, they did not refund any of the 400-Yuan tuition and fees that Li Ji's family had paid. The school principal said: "We just follow the higher level orders. If you want, you can complain to the central government ..." Thus, sadly and disappointedly, Li Ji left the school. After the summer, when the new semester started, Li Ji asked to return to the school. But the school refused. Li Ji is now still out of school.
