[Minghui Net] On April 6, 2001, Falun Gong representatives were invited to attend the annual meeting of the International Human Rights Committee held in Frankfurt, Germany. At the meeting, a Member of the European Parliament, Mr. Thomas Mann, gave a speech on behalf of the Parliament. He pointed out that the Parliament has made clear its position condemning the Chinese government's violation of human rights, especially its persecution of Falun Gong. The Parliament has urged governments in European nations to co-sponsor a resolution with the United States. However, the governments have not yet decided to co-sponsor the resolution, and this disheartens the Parliament very much. Mr. Mann also described a series of brutal actions conducted by the Chinese government in persecuting Falun Gong. Then, a Falun Gong representative presented his speech. He first introduced the persecutions that Falun Gong practitioners in China are suffering, and expressed his gratitude to the Parliament for its support of Falun Gong. After the speech, a Falun Gong representative answered the attendees' questions. The representative also asked Mr. Mann questions, such as, "How will Members of the Parliament facilitate the governments of European nations to co-sponsor the resolution with the USA?" Mr. Mann answered, "Members of the European Parliament are still lobbying the governments of European nations. As of now, governments from two countries are considering co-sponsoring the resolution with the United States. He also proposed many suggestions, and said, "If the governments of European nations co-sponsor the resolution, the U.S.'s resolution would likely pass." Attendees showed great interest in Falun Gong, and had a long talk with Falun Gong representatives after the meeting. The International Human Rights Committee expressed its willingness to cooperate with Falun Gong practitioners, continually support Falun Gong, and safeguard the practitioners' basic human rights.
