An American Mayor Who Doesn't Believe Lies

[Minghui Net] It is already well known that, in the "name of the government," Jiang Zemin and his followers attack and suppress Falun Gong. They direct Chinese Embassies in the United States to contact U.S. government officials on every level, especially mayors of cities, and bombard them with great quantities of slanderous materials, including fabricated videotapes. However, some of these mayors were not so easily fooled. They analyzed the situation for themselves, formed their own opinions, and drew their own conclusions. One of those mayors is the mayor of Mesquite City, Nevada, the Honorable Charles Horne.

Recently, while in Nevada, the Vice Consul of the Chinese Embassy in San Francisco made derogatory remarks about Falun Dafa, which caused a stir among certain of the state's departments and the local Chinese community. But this consul "forgot" that this is America, the land of free speech, freedom of belief, and human rights. At the same time, several Nevada mayors issued 'Certificates of Recognition' to Falun Gong or awarded Falun Gong with proclamations. On Apr. 21^st, Charles Horne, the mayor of the City of Mesquite, Nevada, presented Falun Dafa practitioners with a "Proclamation for Falun Dafa Day."

Mayor Horne also talked cordially and candidly with Dafa practitioners and posed for a photograph with them. He told the practitioners, "I received a videotape from the Chinese Embassy. At the same time, I also received your request for recognition of Falun Dafa. The contents of those two requests were as different as day and night. The history of the Chinese government's bad human rights record combined with their XX principles makes it impossible for me to trust them. After thorough consideration, I decided to issue this certificate to you. Teaching people to be truthful, compassionate, tolerant, honest, polite, loyal, altruistic, and helping them to correct their bad habitsthese are also exactly the responsibilities of a mayor." The Mayor also joked, "The Chinese government actually helped us to get together."

At the end of our meeting, the Mayor gave the practitioners the videotape filled with lies made up by Jiang Zemin and his followers, and told them to do whatever they wanted with it.
