The death of a person is heartbreaking to the family. After Falun Dafa practitioner Nan Chuyin was tortured to death, some people who do not have righteous thoughts published a deceptive article in the newspaper. The article was written without interviewing the family members or obtaining their consent, and while the family members were still mourning their loss. It is our responsibility to let the public know the truth.

Nan Chuyin was a 53-year-old man from Wanggang District, Xishui County. He was a well-liked and well-known doctor. After he began practicing Falun Dafa, he experienced tremendous mental and physical improvements. In turn, he became a firm believer in Falun Dafa and thus introduced Dafa to all of his family members.

But ever since July 20, 1999, his family has been undergoing brutal persecution. When Nan Chuyin saw the twisted news defaming Dafa on TV, his heart was pained. Therefore, he became determined to let the government and the people know the truth about Falun Gong. With compassionate hopefulness, he went to appeal by doing the exercises in Beijing. Consequently, he was arrested and detained three times, beaten, and illegally sentenced to one year in labor camp. The torture continued until he died. His wife was also illegally detained for 40 days for joining group exercises. His son was expelled from a certain college in Chongqing because of his own lawful appeal. Because his son refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, he was detained twice, totaling nine months. His eldest daughter was arrested three times for making appeals and practicing the exercises, which are all within the confines of the law. She was detained for a total of 6 months. His youngest daughter was forced into a labor camp for a year and a half because she made appeals through the legal system and refused to give up practicing Falun Gong. A family was torn apart just because they refused to give up their belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance.

Nan Chuyin was arrested on July 23, 1999 and then on December 25, 1999 for doing the exercises on Xishui Square. Both times, he was brutally beaten by the police. Policeman Xia Shousong used a large flashlight to beat him over the head. Other policemen, including Yan Jian, Li Xunhua, and Gang Shitao, joined Xia to beat Nan Chuyin to the ground. They held him to the ground by stepping on his neck with their leather boots. Then they randomly kicked his head and other parts of his body. He was bleeding all over his face. During the time when Nan was detained in the First Detention Center of Xishui, in order to rough him up, the police moved him to a section that they called the "cruel section" and encouraged the prisoners to abuse him. In cell #18 of the "cruel section," after the prisoners viciously punched him in the abdomen, his face changed color and he lost consciousness for half a day. From then on, he always had blood in his stool, and sometimes he even vomited blood. From the abdominal area down, his body became increasingly swollen. But the detention center staff pretended not to notice. Nan Chuyin told his fellow practitioners that they beat him practically every day. The torture was non-stop. After approximately 6 months of detention, he was illegally sentenced to one year in a labor camp. He was sent to the Yellow Stone Labor Camp in May of 2000. The Yellow Stone Labor Camp was afraid to take him because of his old age and his terrible physical condition, so they sent him back to the detention center. But one month later, the County Public Security Bureau disregarded his poor physical condition and forced him into unit #5 of the Yellow Stone Labor Camp. The supervisor of unit #5 took note of his swollen body and did not arrange any hard labor for him. Approximately two months later, on September 24, Nan and some other Falun Gong practitioners were sent to the Shayang Labor Camp for forced "reform." During this period, his stool always contained blood. He was swollen from his abdomen to his feet. Nothing was done until the one-year detention ended. Upon returning home, he constantly vomited blood and had bloody stool. He was a doctor and knew what his health condition was. He told his family that his liver was torn due to the physical abuse, and that there was no cure for that. While he was in this condition, the police and various related departments in Qinquan Township constantly pressured him to write a pledge to not practice Falun Gong. They barred him from practicing the exercises, disallowed him to do cultivation, and constantly put pressure on him. His family could not even have one day of peace. All of these things--on top of the mental pressure from all levels and the heavy financial burden--finally took a toll on him. One evening in February 2001, Nan Chuyin vomited a large amount of blood and left this world.

Nan Chuyin's death was fully caused by the police's unlawful persecution. But the police department and some other people used this event to generate rumors. They said his death was caused by his refusal to take medicine, due to his practice of Falun Gong. By doing this, the police covered up the fact that it was their brutal crime that had cost a man's life. Without any interviews and without the family members' consent, they published twisted stories in the Hubei Laws and Regulations (a newspaper) and in other media channels. They showed no trace of having a basic human conscience. Nan Chuyin's family members were shocked and offended, but there are no legal channels through which they can appeal.

Five years ago, Nan Chuyin had been a person full of physical ailments, but practicing Falun Gong made him healthy. He improved mentally as well. His life as a senior was very calm and peaceful, but those vicious people crushed his hopes, unjustly took away his freedom of belief, his right to be healthy, and his right to live. At the same time, both his mind and body were severely tormented before he died due to the persecution.

Although all that's left in his family are a widow and kids, and they have nobody to rely on, the police still have not given them any peace. They have constantly bothered his family, showing no trace of having a human conscience. We hope people in this society who still have righteous and compassionate feelings will help them seek justice, while at the same time stopping Jiang Zemin's regime from this illegal and brutal persecution of innocent people. For those who still have some compassion, please don't think that this has nothing to do with you. Your silent acknowledgement and passive acceptance today constitutes a betrayal of your own kindness. Maybe the persecution by the vicious forces will affect you or your family tomorrow.

We are also warning the police who have committed crimes that they will have to bear the responsibility for all that they have done.

In the near future, we will take up the Law and punish those who have been unlawful. Judgment by the Law of Heaven excludes no one. The good and the bad will get what they deserve. This is a Law of the universe.
