Celebrating Teacher's Birthday

Western practitioners

San Diego practitioners met at the La Jolla Cove, facing the billowing ocean waves, at one of the most beautiful locations in the western United States. One practitioner brought an attractive canopy. The blue sides had colorful Faluns and the words Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance in both English and Chinese. There were balloons, a TV and videotapes about Falun Dafa including The Real Story of Falun Gong Part I and II, Human Rights Violations and the Truth of the Self Immolation, in Chinese and in English. There were lots of giant posters near the canopy, along the sidewalk and all around the practice site illustrating the plight of Falun Dafa practitioners in China. Practitioners, in their yellow Falun Dafa clothing, looked like bright flowers waving in the warm May breeze as they began to practice the five Falun Dafa exercises to the sweet sounds of the Chinese music designated by our Teacher, Mr. Li Hongzhi.

Because the La Jolla Cove is a popular tourist attraction, people from all over the world stopped to watch our slow graceful movements. Some asked us to teach them the exercises or took the time to watch a video. One woman was able to learn the exercises very quickly and tried to do them alongside the experienced practitioners. A visitor from Maryland came back a second time to make sure she had all of the literature available.

Many practitioners brought friends and children to join in the festivities because we also had a potluck picnic featuring many delicious Chinese dishes. As two practitioners had just got married, we had a chance to give them our warmest congratulations. We remained in the park from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. sharing the joy of the event, sharing our experiences as practitioners or talking to newcomers. Afterwards many practitioners, wanting to stay together, went to other practitioners' homes.
