Accounts of Criminal Acts by Officers in Colleges and Universities in Guangdong Falun Dafa practitioners from China May 15, 2001 Recently, some unlawful officers from Guangdong's Postsecondary Education
System severely violated Falun Gong practitioners' civil rights and personal
safety. The following is a record of their criminal offenses.
Ignoring the resistance from the grassroots and from the majority of those
in the educational system, these unlawful officers held a mandatory and
illegal "transformation class" and ordered universities to force
Falun Gong practitioners to attend. The officers from the postsecondary
educational system used deception and kidnapped people and put the calm
campus into a constant state of anxiety. At the transformation class, the
officers took away their hypocritical disguises and said openly,
"Whoever does not want to be transformed will be sent to labor
camps." They ganged up with unlawful policemen and persecuted a great
number of people. A lecturer from Jinan University named Mr. Pan was laid
off because he stated that he would continue to firmly practice Falun Gong.
A few days ago, the school board for the system asked him to go to the board
with the reason of "discussing the rearrangement of his job." Once
Mr. Pan arrived, they immediately arrested him and sent him to this illegal
"transformation class." Even his relatives and friends were not
notified.
The officers ganged up with Guangzhou province's unlawful policemen
to kidnap people on the campuses. A woman named Mei Qianfen (who is a
retired professor from Huagong University) and two other people were taking
a trip before January 1st and were mysteriously kidnapped. Mei's family
members searched everywhere and sought help everywhere, but the reply they
received was that they had "disappeared." A few months later, the
missing people were found to be in the "transformation class."
Because they had refused to make an "apology," the board for the
education system had illegally sentenced them to one year of labor camp! The
only evidence was that there were some unclear and "suspicious
words" on one of their towels, which were perceived as proof of their
motive to appeal [on behalf of Falun Gong]. Mysterious people
threatened the family after they learned the whereabouts of these three
people. The officers forced students to participate in the so-called
"Million Signatures" and the "Anti-[slanderous word]
Association." They threatened the students by telling them that their
decision would affect their graduation and job assignments.
We appeal to local and overseas students, and to the teachers and alumni of
Guangdong's colleges and universities both in China and abroad: Confront the
criminal conduct of the unlawful officers in order to save the kindhearted
schoolmates. We appeal to the Education and Scientific Organization in the
United Nations and also to Human Rights organizations: Send representatives to
Guangdong's Postsecondary Educational System of Colleges and Universities to
investigate and prevent the escalation of the persecution of these
intellectuals.
In the meantime, we sternly warn these unlawful officers that are following
Jiang Zemin: Justice has a long arm. Good and bad will be rewarded properly. If
these people continue to commit vicious offenses, they will be punished for what
they have done. Posting date: 5/25/2001
