UK Practitioners Spread Dafa at Amnesty's 40th Birthday in London

UK Dafa Practitioners

Today, 28 May 2001, was the 40th birthday of Amnesty International. Around the world there was a celebration. In London there was also a celebration. Dafa practitioners of course did not miss this good opportunity to do Hong Fa and to reveal the truth. Practitioners joined the parade of Amnesty, walking through the centre of London and coming to the world famous Trafalgar Square. We held one board appealing for the release of Zhao Ming who has been imprisoned for over a year in Beijing. There were another two boards appealing for the release of the relatives of another two practitioners in UK. On the boards, we had photos of the practitioners imprisoned, a brief introduction of them and the persecution and torture they had suffered. Local Amnesty groups have been involved in helping these cases, trying to put pressure on the Chinese government to release these practitioners.

Many people came forward to read the boards and took leaflets to read. Numerous media showed strong interest in Falun Gong. We had a journalist from BBC interview one of our practitioners, asking about how his sister was imprisoned in China and the present situation. Another journalist from BBC Radio also interviewed one of our practitioners. A TV presenter from Germany filmed us, and especially the boards; a photographer took pictures of us with the boards in our hands.

One of the local AI groups was featured in a local newspaper. The article showed how a practitioner in London was not allowed to enter Hong Kong last week, and how she was pulled over by customs officials, detained for five hours, searched and promptly pushed back on the next plane for London. Many local AI groups are showing strong interest in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Many of them are inviting Falun Gong practitioners as speakers at their local meetings to tell them what is the current situation of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Working closely with your local Amnesty group is very important. Today's activity has given us such a good chance to tell the truth, to reveal the evil, to let people know about Falun Gong, to give media updated information and to have closer contact with AI.
