Sydney Practitioners Appeal Peacefully to Remember Those In China Who Can No Longer Do So

A 24-hour vigil starting from 24th of April took place in Sydney outside the Chinese Consulate. Young and old turned up to the event practitioners began gathering at 5:00pm, more than 100 were present. It is a day of remembrance for those who have died in tragedy. For the country, ANZAC Day in Australia it was a time to remember those who have died in World War I. Practitioners acknowledge this day with respect. However at the same time on a global scale and universally, for more than 24 hours Australian practitioners solemnly commemorated the event in China where 10,000 practitioners appealed peacefully to the Central Government for the freedom of practice and belief. It has been two years since the practitioners in China showed the world that Falun Gong is a meditative practice worthy of millions around the world to support and understand the truth. Falun Gong is based on the principles of TRUTH COMPASSION FORBEARANCE and practitioners all around the world are law-abiding citizens who believe in upholding morality and virtue. Tonight, April 25th, 2001, Australian practitioners appealed to the Chinese Government like many others around the world, as well as in China. White flowers were visible everywhere to represent the sorrow of those that have past away simply asking for the freedom to practice Falun Gong. Pictures and floral rings (a tradition in Chinese culture to honour the deceased) of 193 practitioners were present. This was to show the public the ever-increasing death toll of those in police custody mostly due to extreme torture until death. To reiterate the energy of the 10,000 practitioners who gathered peacefully in Zhongnanhai 2 years ago, Lun Yu was recited over and over again just as it was recited in China. Even a little practitioner as young as 3 years old could do so along with his mum and dad. The words of Master Li were emitted around the Chinese Consulate there was a social event inside the building, but all guests witnessed many practitioners appealing to the Chinese Government. In fact, some guests that left the function actually asked for Falun Gong material to read. The truth about the persecution and the genuine teachings of Falun Gong will be acknowledged by those who took pamphlets and signed petitions tonight. Throughout the rest of the week, practitioners will be holding similar vigils and continue to recite Lun Yu to the Australians and the rest of the world.
