PRESS STATEMENT: An Appeal from Europe and the World to Release Falun Gong Practitioners Immediately GOTHENBURG, Sweden, 14 June 2001--We Falun Gong practitioners of Europe and
other nations have traveled to be here at the Chinese consulate to appeal to the
Chinese government. For one morning, we are like the practitioners from
throughout China who persist in travelling to Beijing to appeal at Tiananmen
Square.
Those in Tiananmen Square seek the end of the two-year long persecution
campaign that has resulted in at least 217 deaths, including the death of Ms.
Chi YuLian. She died suddenly after being abducted from her home by police and
taken to Yajia Detention Camp, Dalian, Liaoning Province, just this past week.
We here in Europe also seek the end of the persecution and the end of the
killing of good people by Jiang Zemin's regime.
Those in Tiananmen Square seek the immediate release of thousands of Falun
Gong practitioners detained in prisons, labor camps, and mental hospitals.
We also seek the immediate release of detained practitioners, including our
friend Zhao Ming, a student at Dublin University in Ireland, who is suffering
under a two-year sentence in Tuan He Farm Labour Camp in Daxing County. We fear
for his life.
Those in Tiananmen Square seek to tell their government, their people, and
the world that Falun Dafa is good, despite the real and frightening personal
risks they take by appealing. Regardless of what mistreatment they face, they
respond peacefully and according to the principles of
Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance
With little personal risk but equal determination, we also seek to tell the
Chinese government and the world that Falun Dafa practitioners are good. We,
too, make these requests today, in front of the Chinese consulate, peacefully
and according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance.
And we repeat: release Ireland resident Zhao Ming and all detained Falun Gong
practitioners immediately.
