Dear Ms. P J,

I am a University student and an employee at a TH (store name withheld) in Ontario. I have been working at this location for a little over one year now. During this year I have come to realize how much importance TH places on the local community. I must say I am very impressed by the amount of time and effort that TH spends helping others. The TH Kids Camp is a perfect example of this.

I'm writing to you today to ask for your help. As you may have heard in the news already, Falun Dafa practitioners in China are presently being persecuted. Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) is an exercise and meditation system that is based on the universal principles of Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. The practice improves health, upgrades morals and diminishes stress. Falun Dafa is enjoyed by over 100 million people in over 40 countries worldwide.

However, in China, a few members of the government decided to ban Falun Dafa when they found that 70-100 million people had taken up the practice in just seven years, even though the Chinese Government was very supportive of the practice in the beginning. To date, over 217 people have died in police custody as a result of torture. The practitioners have always remained peaceful despite the brutal treatment they receive in return. Kind-hearted people from other countries throughout the world have recognized this and have spoken out against this vicious violation of human rights on their behalf.

The persecution has even disturbed Canadians. You may have heard the news about Professor Kunlun Zhang, a Canadian citizen and art professor who was detained, beaten and brainwashed in a Chinese labour camp. Because of huge support and numerous appeals from kind-hearted Canadians, he was released and returned to Canada a few months ago. However, now, a Montreal student and a fellow practitioner of mine, Ms. Ying Zhu, has gone missing in Guangdong, China from a train station, when she was on her way to visit her sick mother. Her present condition is unknown.

Truth-Compassion-Tolerance are human values that I believe are honoured by TH as well. In addition, Canadian Citizens value your company's opinion and your well-respected voice would be heard.

If TH were to write a letter of support or a letter of appeal/concern on behalf of the TH family it would be a tremendous help to the people in China, and especially to Ying Zhu.
