[Minghui Net] On the morning of May 27, 2001 (Sunday, 7am to 9:30am) Falun Gong practitioners were having a group practice in front of the Chinese Consulate in Sydney. As usual, the group practice had been approved by the police department. Falun Gong, as a legal group in Australia, enjoys the same legal rights as all other legal groups. The police station understands Falun Gong in Australia very well. They often say that because Falun Gong is a very peaceful and trustworthy group, this sets their mind at rest.

On the morning of May 27, practitioners were peacefully meditating in front of the Chinese Consulate, protesting Jiang Zemin's cruel persecution of Falun Gong. Suddenly, shouting and yelling broke up the practitioners' tranquility. The shouting came from a staff member of the consulate. He was walking back and forth in the area where practitioners were meditating, yelling dirty words and speaking nonsense. Such yelling lasted half an hour, and openly interfered with the freedoms of citizens protected by Australian law.

At about 9 am, two more officials with anti-Falun Gong banners in their hands came out of the consulate and walked directly towards the meditating practitioners. They kicked the practitioners' feet and legs, which were in full lotus position (crossing both legs on top of each other). They waved their hands up and down above the practitioners' heads and swung their bodies back and forth before the practitioners' faces. They were about to hang the slanderous anti-Falun Gong banners in the area where the practitioners were doing meditation, when a practitioner stood up and questioned them, saying, "Falun Gong has not put up any banners criticizing the XX Party. Why do you put up banners that degrade Falun Gong? This is an insult to our human dignity; it is also a slander to the honor of a legal group. You are standing on the soil of Australia. We have obtained a permit to meditate in this area. Please take away your banners, or I have the right to tear them down." But the consulate officials had no intention of taking away the banners and continued to hang them up. The practitioner then tore off one banner. Then, the consulate officials angrily threw a meditation pad into a female practitioner's face and screamed loudly. Seeing this, a policeman came over and questioned the consulate officials, saying, "It is legal for them to meditate quietly outside. We have given them a permit. I saw they were very quiet and there were no arguments until you came out to put up banners. If you put up the banners inside your consulate, nothing would have happened, right?" The consulate staff had nothing to say in return.

Everyone knows that Australia is a country that respects laws, human rights, and freedom. Under the authority of a government whose criminal gang has no respect for the law, human rights, or democracy, all that the diplomatic consulates can do is lie. This has been proved by history many times.
