Latest News from China - 05/29/2001 [Minghui Net]
Around 10 o'clock on the morning of May 24, a 9-meter-long banner saying,
"Restore the Reputation of Falun Dafa!" was seen hanging high up on
the Beijing Wangjing Chinese Medicine Hospital.
About 7:40 on the morning of May 25, when people were hurrying to work, a
long yellow banner with the red words "Restore the Purity of Falun Dafa's
Name!" suddenly unfolded from a tall residential building by the roadside
between Chongwenmen and Dongbianmen. Scores of residents and passers-by saw it.
Several police cars, their sirens blaring, hurried to the area. Dafa
practitioners' righteous minds effectively eliminated the evil. At one end of
the banner a flyer warned people:
"Restore the Reputation of Falun Dafa! It is the aspiration of all Falun
Dafa disciples! It is the will of all people with kind hearts and righteous
minds! It is especially the will of the more than 200 Dafa disciples who have
been tortured to death. It is the will of all those who were injured or
disabled. It is the will of the thousands of Dafa disciples illegally sentenced
or detained! Warning: If you have evil thoughts rather than kindness in your
heart and you remove this banner, you will receive retribution! "Good is
rewarded with good, and bad with bad." This is well known to the Chinese
people, so please heed this warning. Whoever instructs others to remove this
banner will also receive retribution. After you read this, please unfold it and
put it back. You will surely be rewarded with good."
[Helongjiang Province] Over 20 High Volume Speakers Resound in a City One by
One
Three days after April 29, over 20 speakers resounded in the air one by one
in a city in Heilongjiang province. The voice of Falun Dafa resounded across the
skies in the parks, on top of residential buildings and on the main streets near
the detention center. Many people popped their heads out of windows and listened
carefully. "Mankind! Wake up! The vows of gods throughout the ages are
being fulfilled. Dafa is evaluating all lives. The path of life is under one's
own feet. A person's own single thought will also determine his future."
("Further Comments on Superstition," Essentials for Further
Advances, Updated English Version, April 2001). Some tweeters resounded for
over 40 minutes. Two were hung over the main streets and played 4 times in two
days. The power of Dafa truly manifests itself in the human world!
On May 13, several hundred Dafa banners were displayed in the city. "Falun
Dafa is Good!" "Falun Dafa is a Righteous Fa!" "Restore the
Purity of Falun Dafa's Name!" In a park, which was a main practice site
before the crackdown on July 20, 1999, over 60 banners were hung. Various Dafa
materials made by Dafa disciples with paint, self-adhesive paper, or written
with chalk, could be seen all over the city. When people see these materials,
the good will in their hearts brings them happiness.
In May, again, two Dafa disciples walked out from their cells in the
detention center. When Dafa disciples dissolve into the Fa and always keep
righteous thoughts, how can the substances in the human world restrain them?
Dafa disciples' lives are so great and indestructible!
[Sichuan Province] Another Magnificent Feat
On May 28, fearless Sichuan Dafa disciples hung a large number of banners
near a university. Then they hung a lot of Dafa banners at Dongerhuanlu Road in
a city. Numerous banners were fluttering brightly in the breeze in the morning
sunlight.
Quite a few passers-by were attracted to them. The vicious forces were very
frightened.
On the day before they took this action, the practitioners held a Fa-conference
to exchange ideas and encourage more practitioners to step forward and help our
great benevolent Teacher with Fa-rectification.
[Northeast China] A Case of Live Retribution
Dafa practitioners in a city of Northeast China set up a tweeter in the park
that had the most tourists. The voice of Dafa resounded across the heavens. On
that Sunday, the park was crowded with people coming and going all morning,
doing morning exercises, going shopping or going for a walk. All heard the
40-minute broadcast of Falun Dafa. Everyone was talking about it, guessing
whether it was the voice from the heaven. The broadcast cleansed the bad
thoughts from people's minds and effectively suffocated the evil. Hearing the
news, a vicious policeman hurried to remove the tweeter. He fell out of the tree
on the spot. This was live retribution.
[Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Validating Dafa During the "Chinese
Rose Festival"
May 25 was the day of the "Chinese Rose Festival" in Laizhou city,
Shandong province. That morning, many posters such as "Falun Dafa is
Good!" "Falun Dafa is the Righteous Fa!" and "Stop the Head of the Evil from Brutally
Persecuting Dafa Disciples!" were painted in red on the walls and power-line
poles along both sides of Wenquanlu Road in the southern part of the city, for
at least 3 to 4 kilometers. Dafa disciples forcefully validated Dafa and
restrained the evil elements.
[Northeast China] The Most Beautiful Scenery
Inside the World Scenery Park located in the suburban area of a city in
Northeast China, "Falun Dafa is Good!" is painted on the stone tables,
stone posts, walls and doors. Various colorful banners made of self-adhesive
paper, big and small, can be seen everywhere. This has become the most beautiful
scenery in the park. The tourists who see it say with great delight, "Look,
'Falun Dafa is Good!'"
[China] The Miracle of My Grandpa and Grandma's Cultivation
Both my grandpa and grandma cultivate Falun Dafa. After practicing Dafa,
grandpa's long history of catching colds stopped. Both are becoming healthier
and healthier.
They practice exercises and study the Fa (the great law) everyday.
They can only sit in lotus position for half an hour but the tape exercise 5 is
pre-recorded with 60-minutes of music on both sides of the tape. Side A has
Teacher's instructions and side B has the music but no instructions. After they
finish the fifth exercise, they have to rewind the tape. So grandpa and grandma
thought it would be better if both sides of the tape had the instructions.
A miracle happened. One morning shortly after they had that thought, grandma
woke up early and began to do the sitting exercise. Because the tape had not
been rewound the previous night, it started on side B. Grandma decided to listen
to the music without instructions. But soon after she sat down, the recorder
suddenly played Teacher's instructions. Grandma was very surprised. Grandpa was
also surprised but thought he might have rewound the tape the previous night.
"No. The volume is not as loud as that of side A." grandpa said.
From then on, the two sides of the tape have the same music and instructions.
Even the volume has become the same.
[Jilin Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners "Suffocate Evil Beings"
Actively
At 2pm May 1st, several female practitioners met in a market and
greeted each other. Immediately, five plain-clothes policemen surrounded,
searched and arrested them. Two other practitioners got away. While the police
pushed them into a police vehicle, the practitioners resisted the arrest and
spoke out loudly, "Falun Dafa is good! Suffocate the bad people!" in
an attempt to expose the wicked actions and clarify the truth to the people
around. According to people witnessing the scene, five policemen tried hard to
push four female practitioners into the vehicle. They pushed for one hour and
became exhausted but they still failed. At that time, a few hundred people were
watching this ugly scene. The chant of "Falun Dafa is good" could be
heard clearly over the whole marketplace and this made the bad people scared.
People living in the nearby buildings opened the windows and looked down.
Finally, the police had to call for back up; then many armed policemen came and
took away the four female practitioners.
At the police station, the practitioners were full of righteous minds and
refused to cooperate with the evil policemen. The police failed at their
interrogation. They didn't sign the document when they were sent to the
detention center. They began a hunger and water strike (to protest the
illegal arrest) the first night at the detention center. The police tricked
one of the two practitioners who had left the market and had gone back home.
They lured her out of her home on the excuse of having a talk, then directly put
her into the detention center with the other four detained practitioners.
During the four and a half days of their hunger strike, five of them embraced
each other to form one unit to resist the attempt at force-feeding and forced
the evil persons to give up the attempt. After failing at force-feeding, the
vicious police tried to separate them by interrogating them one by one. But they
refused to go out individually. The police tried to cheat them by promising to
release them one by one but they recognized the trap and insisted that they be
released together.
In the end, they won the battle against the evil policemen. The five
practitioners were unconditionally released on May 5.
[Jilin Province] Exposing the Vicious Intent of the Plan to "Separate
and Transform"
On March 27, over 50 practitioners detained in Jilin Huanxiling Detention
Center were separated and escorted to Liaoyuan Detention Center, Tonghua
Detention Center and Jiutai Yingmahe Detention Center. These practitioners are
regarded as core members and difficult to "reform." The detention
centers accepting the practitioners claimed they would "reform" all of
them in ten days. These practitioners all treasure Dafa more than their lives,
so we can imagine what brutal means the evil forces will apply to them.
The evil Jiang and his group of political cronies pressured the detention
centers and police stations to "reform" the detained practitioners
immediately and ordered them to separate the practitioners from the detention
centers where a large number of practitioners were detained. Because of the UN
Human Rights Conference, Jiang and his accomplices wanted to destroy the
evidence of their crimes and forcibly "reform" the practitioners. That
is the reason why they became more vicious and relentless and escalated the
persecution.
[Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Criminal Records of Ruffians Zheng Guihua
and Bai Meichun of Mengyang Town
Two ruffians from the Party Committee Secretary of Mengyang Town, Zheng
Guihua and Deputy Director of Politics and Law Committee of Mengyang Town
Government Bai Meichun, ordered the brutal persecution of Dafa practitioners and
extorted a large sum of money from practitioners. In the past two years, they
applied many inhuman means to torture and beat the practitioners who went to
appeal in Beijing. Those practitioners who stayed at home were framed with fake
evidence in order to arrest them. During the detention, they used brutal means
and long-term detention in an attempt to force the practitioners to give up
their beliefs, as well as to extort money from the practitioners' families.
Practitioner Liao Changqiong was escorted back from Beijing and beaten
severely. A thug called Jiang Sanbang kicked her whole body with boots, and
forcibly stepped on her body till she became unconscious. Her rectum was kicked
so severely it protruded 3 inches. Water accumulated in her abdominal cavity and
her whole body had edema. She was only partially recovered after half a year.
This is the evidence of Zheng Guihua and Bai Meichun's crime.
Teacher Qing of Beijie Elementary School was beaten and severely injured
because of one piece of flyer telling the truth. One of her eyeballs was kicked
out by the vicious ruffians. The eyeball was put back after she was sent to an
ophthalmologic hospital.
January 2001, the local government wanted to have its annual meetings and the
cadres of the towns and villages wanted to get some "New Year Bonus"
before the Spring Festival. The vicious people planned to extort 500 to 1000
Yuan from each practitioner and gave this extortion the name "guarantee
money." They ordered local officials to collect the money by coercion. On
January 2nd, ten practitioners were arrested and escorted back from
Beijing. These thugs were excited and decided to cancel the plan of collecting
money from each practitioner. Instead they decided to extort money from these
arrested practitioners. They began to torture the practitioners, forced them to
work in the daytime and to stand outdoors (sleep deprivation) at night (it
was wintertime). They set a deadline of January 10 for every detained
practitioner to pay a 10,000Yuan fine (about two years income of an average
worker).
After that they sent the practitioners to Mengyang County Police Station and
detained them for two months. Most of them were released in March. Maybe because
of lacking money to pay the "fine," practitioner Zhang Zhiqiong, Zeng
Kongfeng, and Zeng Li were put into the County Jail. The most inconceivable
thing was that a new-born baby less than one-year-old had to stay in the jail
with his mother, Zeng Li.
The two thugs Zheng and Bai ran rampant in the counties near Mengyang Town.
Their "advanced materials" of persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners
were submitted to City, Provincial government and even Beijing central
government.
[Weifang City, Shandong Province] The Wicked Plots Formed in Shandong
Province
On May 18th 2001 in Fuhua Recreation Park Hotel in Weifang City Shandong
Province, police leaders from Shandong Province held a secret meeting about
persecuting Falun Gong. They were going to track down and arrest Dafa
practitioners and search their houses for Dafa materials in the name of
"searching for privately hidden guns and bullets." Ruffians in Weifang
City have performed this criminal action since May 24. Dafa practitioners:
please be alert and emanate your righteous thoughts to redeem the situation.
[Jingzhou City, Liaonin Province] Police Extort Dafa Practitioners
Police in Jingzhou City, Liaonin Province arrested, beat, and abused Dafa
practitioners. They also extorted money and property from them. They searched
their houses, searched their bodies, and levied fines. Their behavior was the
same as criminals without human nature. If the practitioner did not have money,
they tortured him without restraint, and extended his detention. That was no
different than kidnapping for ransom. Based upon incomplete statistics, over ten
practitioners were extorted for somewhere between 10,000 to 30,000 RMB Yuan
(about US $1,200 to $3,600, about the income of 2 years to 6 years of a Chinese
worker). Some families, with several Dafa practitioners arrested at the same
time were extorted for over 40,000 Yuan (around US $4,800, about the income of 8
years of a typical Chinese worker). Over 100 practitioners were extorted for
between 1000 to 10,000 RMB Yuan (about US $120 to US 1,200). The total amount
was about half a million RMB Yuan (about US $60,000). This was just the tip of
the iceberg. Most of the practitioners being fined have been dismissed from
their jobs and have no income. They have to lead a strained and difficult life,
while the police have an extravagant time.

[Dalian, Liaonin Province] The Persecution Of Dafa Practitioners in Dalian
Labor Camp
Practitioner Wanglin is detained in Dalian Labor Camp because of distributing
Falun Dafa materials. The vicious policeman Miao Zhuang who persecuted Wang Lin
suffered a car accident and almost died. This is really "being punished in
this life time when conducting evil."
Practitioner Teng Yumei went to the Development District to distribute
materials in April. She was arrested and her house was illegally searched. Teng
is now detained in Yaojia Detention Center in Dalian city.
Practitioner Ruan Baiqiang was arrested in January by Dafangsheng Police
Station and detained in the police station for over 10 hours. His hands and feet
were swollen due to being frozen. In April, in order to clarify the truth to
ordinary people, he rode a motorcycle to the Development District to distribute
materials. He was arrested again and his house was searched. He was detained in
the Detention Center of the Development District.
Zhou Liying was taken away by police from the Development District Police
Station on May 4 and is detained in Yaojia Detention Center.
Hou Ling was arrested in April. The detention site is unknown.
Dafangsheng Police Station arrested Shi Lianrong and her house was illegally
searched This act left her 80-year-old mother-in-law at home without anyone to
take care of her.
Chen Jing, female, was arrested because she went to Beijing. She is detained
in Yaojia Detention Center at present, which leaves a preschooler alone without
someone to look after him.

Xu Meihua, was arrested because she went to Beijing. She is detained in
Yaojia Detention Center at present.
[Beijing] The Third "Transformation Class" in Beijing
The third "transformation class" has begun in Beijing. On May 24,
2001 Dafa practitioners, a couple, Bai Linli and Zhao Haiying, were taken away
from their home and escorted to Daxing County. Another practitioner, Huang
Yongchang from Beijing Industrial University was also arrested.
[China] Please Pay Attention to Dafa Practitioner Wang Hongmei
Wang Hongmei from Zhuanghe, ?? Province and Qu Xianrong, who worked outside
of her hometown, went to Beijing to appeal in February 2001. Their whereabouts
are unknown at present.
[China] Please Pay Attention to the Encounter of Falun Gong Practitioner Song
Jinying From Wafangdian
Song Jinying is a Falun Gong practitioner from Wafangdian. In March 2001,
police from Paotai Town police station illegally searched her house and
confiscated her property. Song was arrested and detained in Wafangdian Detention
Center. Her father, a practitioner passed away several days later after she was
taken away.
[Langfang, Hebei Province] A Falun Gong Practitioner From Langfang City
Arrested in Shenzhen City
Fang Yuan (pseudonym), a female Falun Gong practitioner from Langfang City,
Hebei Province was arrested in Shenzhen City, Guangdong province in May 2001.
Her mother has been in deep torment for having lost her son, a Falun Gong
practitioner who died as a result of persecution. Now she is suffering one
disaster after another. She doesn't know where in Shengzhen City her daughter
has been detained and tortured.
[China] Police Break into House and Rob Falun Gong Practitioner
A few days ago, police went to a practitioner's house to arrest him. But this
practitioner refused to open the door. Police pried open the door and forced
their way into his home. The police not only arrested the practitioner, but also
drove away his personal car worth over one hundred thousand RMB yuan, and took
away his computer, printer, shredder and other electronic equipment. We do not
know if the police also took away his cash and bankbook.
[Zhuhai, Guangdong Province] Practitioners from Tsinghua University Detained
in Zhuhai City
Some Falun Gong practitioners from Tsinghua University were detained in
Zhuhai City, Guangdong province on the charge of "intending to overthrowing
the State." They are:
Lin Yang, male, Department of Water Conservancy;
Huang Kui, male, Department of Precision Instrument;
Ma Yan, female, Department of Architecture;
Li Yanfang, female, Department of Chemical Engineering;
Jiang Yuxia, female, Department of Water Conservancy;
Li Chunyan, female, Department of Engineering Physics;
And others not listed by name.
[Shenzhen, Guangdong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested in Shenzhen
City
On May 18, 2001, several Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested
while exchanging experiences. Their whereabouts and the number of arrests are
unknown so far. They were: Dong Yuhua, Deng Xiaoyan, Dapang (pseudonym), and
others whose names are unknown at this time.
[Beijing] Falun Gong Practitioner Zhang Yanlin Disappears
Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Yanlin, female, disappeared when distributing
Dafa materials on May 22, 2001. Her whereabouts are unknown.
[Changchun, Jilin Province] The Illegal Behavior of the Jilin Provincial
Party School
Since July 1999, the Jilin Provincial Party School has been monitoring,
interrogating and examining Falun Gong practitioners, even including people from
other workplaces. An old professor who was not a practitioner was invited to
give a lecture in the Party School. When he was entering the meeting hall, the
personnel from the security section held him back and questioned him, "Are
you practicing Falun Gong?" The professor was shocked and replied angrily,
"It is quite a school that educates state officials, but doesn't know how
to respect human rights and people's individuality. What kind of 'good
officials' can it bring out?"
In mid-May, several personnel from the Security Section who were "lying
in wait" found that two practitioners were distributing Falun Gong
materials in the Party School. They held them up, pushed them around, beat and
kicked them, slapped their faces, and pulled their hair. In the end they sent
them to the police station. They were helping a tyrant to do evil.
