Eyewitness Reports of the Persecution of Dafa Practitioners in Various Villages in Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province (II) Dafa Practitioners in China
The Town of Dancheng
Dong Antai, male, age thirty, went to Beijing to clarify the truth of Falun
Dafa with his wife in November 1999. They were arrested and illegally detained
for two months by the local authorities at the Detention Center in Shuangcheng
City. They were then sent to a transformation class. To bail both of them out,
Dong's family had to pay 6000 Yuan.
On December 14, 2000, Dong's wife again went to Beijing to clarify the truth
of Dafa. On her way home, she was arrested and detained at the 2nd
Detention Center in Shuangcheng City. Then she was sentenced to one year forced
labor education at the Wanjia Labor Camp. Dong was also illegally arrested while
at home . After five days of hunger strike, he was released. Twenty days later,
five plainclothes police, led by the village Chief Chen Fubin, forced their way
into Dong's home and dragged him away. His elderly mother in her eighties and
his five-year-old daughter were home at the time. Dong's mother begged the
police not to take Dong away saying, "You can't take my son away! I need
him to take care of me!" Chief Chen and the police didn't care about what
she said at all. They dragged Dong into a police van and sent him to the
transformation class without any warrant of arrest. On January 23, Dong was
transferred to the 2nd Detention Center in Shuangcheng. As nobody was
home to look after her, Dong's mother died ten days after the Chinese New Year.
His five-year-old daughter was then taken away and cared for by her aunt. Until
now, Dong still hasn't been released.
Zhao Haijun, a man in his 30s, went to Beijing to clarify the truth of Falun
Dafa with his wife in November 1999, and they were arrested and detained at the
Shuangcheng Detention Center for three months afterwards. One year later, they
were arrested again and have not been heard from since. After arresting the
couple, the local police went to their home and stole their TV set. Ten other
people came after that trying to rob them of their harvest of corn, worth about
20,000 Yuan RMB. Zhao's father stood up against them and saved the harvest of
corn.
Yan Shenzhu and his wife Chen Xiuhua were arrested and detained at the 2nd
Detention Center in Shuangcheng for appealing in Beijing in January 2000.
Fifteen days later, the authorities demanded a bail of 6,000 Yuan for their
release. Twelve months after that, they went to Beijing to appeal again. This
time, Yan was detained at the Shuangcheng Detention Center and sentenced to one
year forced labor education at the Changlinzi Labor Camp in Harbin City. In
December, while Chen Xiuhua was at home with her aged mother, 6 or 7 people
barged in to take Chen away. Chen's mother was very sick in bed. She asked,
"What crime has my daughter committed that you should take her away?"
They answered, "She is not allowed to practice what the government does not
allow people to practice." While saying that, they dragged her into a
police van, and wouldn't even let her put her overcoat on before leaving. She
was then taken into an interrogation room where she was beaten. They then showed
her the self-immolation video and asked her what she thought. Chen answered,
"Falun Dafa teaches people to be kind. Falun Dafa does not teach people to
kill themselves." Before she could finish, the police punched her in the
face. They said, "As long as you practice Falun Dafa, you will be beaten. I
will let you carry on with your practice, but I would like to see you try and
crawl out of this room with bruises all over your face."
Ten days later, another officer named Chen Shaowu came and asked Chen Xiuhua
if she still wanted to practice. She replied firmly, "Yes." He said,
"If you continue to practice, I will beat you to death." While saying
this, he tookoff his coat and began punching her in the face. He didn't stop
until he was tired. Fifteen minutes after he stopped to rest, he continued again
with the beating. An elderly kitchen hand couldn't bear to watch her being
beaten any longer and went to help her up from the floor. It was only then that
the officer stopped beating her.

The Ordeal of Our Family
I came from a small village in the province of Heilongjiang and have been
practicing Falun Dafa since 1996. Through practicing Falun Dafa, I have made
great improvements, both physically and mentally. Something worth mentioning is
that I have helped to save the country's Health Care Fund 10,000 Yuan because of
my health improvement. On July 22, 1999, when Jiang Zemin and his gang began to
suppress Falun Dafa, a few of our colleagues went to the provincial government
to lodge an appeal. Upon returning to our village, we were arrested without any
legal papers, and were detained in a local detention center. We were forced to
sign a statement of renouncement of Falun Dafa as a condition of release.
From mid 1999 to August 2000, I was often summoned to the local police
station where I was interrogated and beaten at the same time. On August 18,
2000, I went to Beijing again to lodge an appeal. This time, I was detained for
19 days at the local police station at Tiananmen Square. That evening, I was
transferred to the Harbin Administration Office in Beijing and then to the
Shuangcheng Administration Office in Beijing. I was handcuffed the entire time.
The village representative, Wu Zhongge, and the Council Secretary, Na Zhenkuan,
flew out to Beijing to take me back. During the return trip on a train, they had
me handcuffed to the luggage compartment. When we arrived in the village they
chained me to the heating pipe and left me on a chair the whole night at the
local police station. The following day, the village Chief and a police officer
came to my farm and tried to take our cows away. My family members stood up
against them and didn't allow our cows to be taken away. So instead, they
ransacked everything in our house to see if there was anything else worth
taking. They took my motorbike and lied to my wife afterwards, saying that they
required 7,000 Yuan as travel expenses for taking me back from Beijing, and that
the motorbike would be kept at the local station as a bond until she paid for
the travel expenses. If she did not pay, they would take the money from the
other villagers. To avoid getting others in trouble, she signed the agreement.
Later, these officers demanded 16,000 Yuan from me personally. Because I refused
to pay, they detained me at the detention center for another 15 days. I was
handcuffed for over one hundred hours as I was taken from Beijing back to the
local police station. When I went to get my motorbike, which was damaged quite
badly, they demanded another 500 Yuan from me. Altogether, they had extorted a
total of 8,500 Yuan from me.
Again, on July 17, 2001, while taking my mother to the hospital, the local
police and the security officer from our village came to the hospital to arrest
me after I told them that I would still practice Falun Dafa. They charged me
with a criminal offence, and put me under detention for a further 65 days at the
Shuangcheng Detention Center. During this period, they kept showing me the video
of the self-immolation incident in Beijing, trying hard to reform my thoughts.
Whatever methods they used, I was not affected at all.
When I returned to Xiqin village, I was forced to attend a 10-day
transformation class. During this time, the village Chief kept pestering us.
Later he returned and took me away again saying, "If you slander your
Teacher, they will let you go back to celebrate the New Year." I refused to
cooperate with them. Later, they charged me 700 Yuan as bail and for the cost of
supervision. While I was under detention, they tried to talk my family into
paying 2,000 Yuan as a guarantee, so I would not be sentenced to the labor camp.
By simply saying, "Dafa is good," my wife, also a practitioner, was
detained for 23 days by the local police station during the Spring Festival. In
the end, they demanded 1,000 Yuan from us, and took away our farm license as
insurance before releasing her. Meanwhile, my seventy-year old parent who had
suffered from a stroke, our two young children, and our ten cows had no one to
look after them.
Jiang Zemin claims that Falun Dafa practitioners have deserted their homes,
families and relatives. But isn't he the one who has forced us to desert our
homes and live miserably? We don't care what nasty means those scoundrels use
because they will never change our minds towards Dafa. We will give everything
to stand up for this true and orthodox Dafa and to restore our Teacher's
reputation. Because of offering a means to save people, our teacher is now
subject to slander, which is something we cannot accept. Whatever price we pay
to defend Dafa, it is still worth our effort.

Incriminated for Speaking Out the True Facts
I am a Dafa practitioner from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang province. On
December 21, 1999, three of us set out to Beijing to lodge an appeal for the
unjust treatment of Falun Dafa practitioners. We were arrested at the
Shuangcheng train station when the police checked our I.D. They confiscated our
I.D., and tried to force us to slander Dafa and our Teacher, but we refused.
After taking us back, the local police searched our bags and confiscated all of
our money, abusing us while they did so. They grabbed our heads and bashed them
against the concrete wall, and then slapped and kicked us. One attacker was a
police officer named Li Yunzhong. The other two were Wu Zhongge, Chief of Xiqin
Village, and the council secretary, Wang Jiwen. They took turns beating us.
After beating us for a while, they handcuffed us to the heating pipe and made us
sit there for the rest of the night and the following five days. They released
us only when we went on a hunger strike to protest. They made up excuses to
justify themselves and swindled 500 Yuan from my family as well.
They said, "There is no way you can make an appeal for justice, because
no one cares or dares to interfere with us."

They Paid for Their Wrong Deeds
Abusing his power, Sun Qingxiu, the former assistant manager of a tobacco
company in Shuangcheng City, had been slandering Falun Dafa and preventing
practitioners from going to work. His wife also slandered Falun Dafa. In April
of this year, while travelling in a car, they got in an accident. The husband
died instantly, and the wife's spine was injured, paralyzing her from the waist
down.
