(Clearwisdom Net) Early in the morning of June 21, practitioner Zhao Yayun's family heard the news of her death. The family went to see her body. Her hair was tangled, her eye sockets were bruised and her lifeless eyes were slightly open. There was a pinch mark about the size of the nail of the little finger at the Renzhong acupoint [between the nose and the upper lip; pressure is usually applied there in emergencies such as coma, shock, apnea, etc.]. Her teeth were tightly clenched and the distinctive marks left on her face clearly showed that she had been beaten and slapped. Her face was swollen and two rope marks were visible around her neck. One of them was light while the other was much deeper. Her shoulders were bruised, her arms were wounded and her abdomen was heavily bruised.

Zhao Yayun was a 54 year old woman from the Lequn area of Shuangcheng city, Heilongjiang province. She was very friendly, respectable and gentle. She had a very good reputation among her neighbors.

She started to practice Falun Dafa around the time of the Chinese New Year in 1996. Since then, the stomach problems, migraines and other diseases that she had previously suffered disappeared. She became very healthy and young looking. Zhao Yayun was detained three times for appealing for Falun Dafa. The first time, the police broke into her home around midnight, taking her copy of Zhuan Falun and locking her up in the Shuangcheng Detention Center. The police released her after she paid a bail of 3,000 Yuan (about 6 month salary of an average urban worker in China).

The second arrest occurred while she was planning to go to Beijing to appeal and express her deeply held conviction that Falun Dafa had been wronged by the government. Before she arrived in Beijing, she was intercepted by police and taken to the Shuangcheng Detention Center.

The third time, Zhao Yayun and several other practitioners were doing the exercises in her home. The police came and took her to a detention center again, soon transferring her to the Wanjia Labor Camp. Since then, she never made her way back.

It was acknowledged that Zhao Yayun was very firm in her belief of Falun Dafa, even after her imprisonment. She protested the police's taking away her right to freedom of belief and showed no fear in facing the evil forces.

Labor camp officials told her parents and children that she died on the way to the hospital and that she received only kind and considerate care in the labor camp. Seeing her wounded and distorted face, however, it was clear to them that their daughter was under extreme duress and pain. Zhao's daughter did not believe the story from the labor camp officials and told them, "My mom has been tortured like this! It is horrifying to look at what you have done to her. You say you treated her with kindness? Don't you have mothers too? How could you do this?" All the officials remained silent.

We demand answers from the criminals responsible for Zhao Yayun's death:

1. The Officials claimed she committed suicide by hanging herself and that her tongue stretched out when she died. But what we saw on her body was her teeth clenched and her fists clamped tightly together.
2. Family members wanted to speak to the eyewitness (Ma Xiaoqian, a 21 year old female disciplinary guard). Officials said that even they could not see her. Later the officials told them that she had been visiting from a police school, but "nobody knew" which school.
3. When her family asked where the many wounds on Zhao Yayun's body came from, the officials said, "Your question is hard to answer."
4. Since the officials claimed more than ten practitioners had committed mass suicide, they asked who else had participated in this suicide and how.
5. Besides the disciplinary guard patrolling each cell every five minutes, every cell had an assigned person for night duty. How could no one notice that so many people were going to commit mass suicide? Could it really be a mass suicide?

Falun Dafa forbids suicide. A faithful practitioner like Zhao Yayun would never commit suicide. Her family members wept and recalled, "Her life was very simple and plain. She seldom bought new clothes for herself, and always let others wear new clothes while she took the old clothes. Now she died wearing new clothes and new shoes. The only piece of clothing she had left was an old, short sleeve shirt. Bloodstains covered the sleeves and the front of the shirt. What does that tell you?

The Wanjia Labor Camp shut down all possible communication channels to the outside to prevent the truth of this terrible death incident from leaking out. We strongly urge Human Rights Organizations and relevant international organizations to investigate this incident.
