UK Falun Gong Practitioners' SOS Walking Journey Starts in Birmingham
UK Dafa Practitioners
UK Falun Gong practitioners' SOS walk started on July 8 from Birmingham in
the north of England and headed toward London in the South of England.
At half past ten in the morning, Falun Gong practitioners Liu Xuie Mei from
London, Xuie Ni from Oxford, plus Simon and four other practitioners from
Birmingham started the SOS walk from Victoria Square in Birmingham to London.
The whole journey is about 350 kilometers. Liu Xuie Mei and Xuie Ni, who started
the activity, will walk the whole journey.
Liu Xuie Mei is a postgraduate in business study. When she heard the news
about 15 female Falun Gong practitioners tortured to death in the Wanjia labor
camp, she had a wish that she could wake people with kind hearts up by walking
through towns and villages; that they would care about the tragic experiences
Falun Gong practitioners in China are going through; that they would offer their
support.
"Watching other people die without offering help" is a selfish
behaviour. Since 20 July 1999, at least 250 Falun gong practitioners in China
have been tortured to death under Jiang Zemin's regime. Two years have passed,
and the evil is still expanding. UK Falun Gong practitioners hope to do a wide
range appeal to individuals, government, and different organizations by this SOS
walking. We are asking all people with kind hearts to join us to appeal to the
Chinese government "Stop Killing, Release All Falun Gong
Practitioners."
July 8 is the first day of this SOS walk from Birmingham to London. Liu Xuie
Mei has completed walking 30 kilometers and has reached Bromsgrove. During the
walk, they put SOS on their bags and carried some SOS leaflets, the death list
and banners. It attracted many English people. Drivers passing by showed their
respect by blowing their horns, some said "Good job." Many people
asked them if they needed any help. When a policeman in this small town learned
the purpose of their walk and read the Dafa materials and leaflets, he expressed
his sincere respect. He even offered help find accommodation for the
practitioners. Before they left, the policeman asked for more Dafa leaflets and
said he would put them in the town to let more people know about it. Some
English people who have read about Dafa held the practitioners' hands and said
with emotion "Dafa is good." Practitioners all feel strongly that
there are so many good people waiting for Dafa in those small villages and
towns. We should make more efforts to let them know the truth.
The UK Falun Gong Information Centre has sent out press releases about this
SOS walk to national and local media and also to local councilors on the routes
they are going through, asking for support to rescue the Falun Gong
practitioners in China from being killed.
