1. Director of Broadcasting Bureau Detained for Pleading for Falun Gong
Practitioners in Xinji City, Hebei Province
Dafa practitioners in Xinji City, Hebei Province have been firmly holding
righteous thoughts and protecting the Fa. The city officials responsible for
persecuting Falun Gong have been replaced one after another due to their failure
to change the minds of practitioners. No one has been able to stop practitioners
from protecting the Fa. Recently, Shen Zhanqun, Secretary of the Party Committee
in Xinji City gave an order: no city official shall plead or ask leniency for
Falun Gong practitioners. Wang Jie, Director of the Broadcasting Bureau, is not
a Falun Gong practitioner, but he was arrested for violating this order.
According to sources, the Party Committee in Xinji City had a meeting on June
14, 2001 on the issue of Falun Gong, the subject of which was "Criticism of
the Deputy Secretary for Failure to Transform Falun Gong Practitioners."
The meeting brought about new directions for persecuting Falun Gong:
From now on, the repression of Falun Gong is to be intensified, especially in
June, July, and August. Each of the 4026 local practitioners on the list will be
checked, not exempting a single "suspect," even if he has already
written a letter denouncing Falun Gong. As long as he has practiced Falun Gong
before, he shall be "educated" and brainwashed. The goal is to
brainwash over 90% of all local practitioners by the end of this year.

2. Xinji City Places Bounties for the Arrest of Falun Gong Practitioners
Worth Tens of Thousands of Yuan
Many Falun Dafa practitioners in Xinji City, Hebei Province have left home to
avoid the brainwashing class. However, there are still many people actively
spreading the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution, causing the police
embarrassment and anxiety. Four practitioners (Chen Xipu, Hou Jinqiao, Li
Shengsuo, and one whose name is unknown) are now on the list of the wanted. The
police department declared that anyone reporting their whereabouts and helping
to capture them would be eligible for a reward of 30,000 Yuan (Yuan, Chinese
dollar. The average monthly income of an urban worker is 500 Yuan). Those
who protect and support Falun Gong are to be fined 30,000 to 50,000 Yuan and

3. Eight Falun Gong Practitioners Are Arrested in Xinji City, Hebei Province
The local television news of Xinji City, Hebei Province, reported on June 19
that eight Falun Gong practitioners were arrested. The police also confiscated a
copier, a printer, and a CD burner. The practitioners are Fu Zengqi, Fu Xiaodong
(Fu's daughter), Wang Genhuai, Zhang Xiumin (Wang's wife), Chen Xijian, Zhang
Zhe (Chen's wife), Geng Shun, Wang Min (Geng's wife).
4. Opera Troupe Continues with Wrongdoings After Receiving Retribution
The Youth Pingju Opera Troupe in Shijiazhuang City cooperated with the 610
Office (an office set up to persecute Falun Gong) and the Cultural Association
of Henan Province to produce a show slandering Falun Dafa (there is a related

When they performed for provincial officials, there were already signs of
retribution on the leading actress. Jin Ling's eyes were swollen like chestnuts

5. Female Practitioner Detained and Tortured in Changchun, Jilin Province
Practitioner Zang Hong (30's, female) works for the Changchun University of
Agriculture. She was sent by the Public Security Department of the university to
an agriculture school in Xinglongshan Township to be brainwashed. She has been
there for three months so far. Because she has been firm in practicing Falun
Dafa, the people in the brainwashing class have tortured her brutally. Details
of her other injuries are unclear at this time, but it is confirmed that she has
lost her hearing due to the beatings.
6. Weizigou Labor Camp Plans To Establish Brainwashing Base
Weizigou Labor Camp of Changchun City, Jilin Province, is applying for
funding to build a brainwashing base. The cost for one floor in the building is
estimated to be 6 million Yuan (about 750,000 US dollars). Their intention is to
escalate the persecution of Falun Gong.
The natural environment around Weizigou Labor Camp is quite harsh. There is a
severe shortage of water. The inmates do not get to shower for months, and very
few people can brush their teeth and wash their face daily. Since the
persecution of Dafa practitioners began, the higher authorities allocated
funding to the labor camp based on the number of practitioners detained. As a
result, Weizigou Labor Camp became rich. Driven by money, the guards at the
labor camp are eager to detain more Dafa practitioners. They enthusiastically
learn new tricks on how to persecute Dafa practitioners from other labor camps,
ignoring fundamental moral values. Currently twelve Dafa practitioners are being
detained in the labor camp, with four inmates monitoring each one. The inmates
use all types of torture in an attempt to force them into denouncing Falun Dafa.

7. Baiju Road Police Substation Extorts Money from Dafa Practitioners
The police at the Baiju Road Substation in Changchun City, Jilin Province
often detain practitioners without any reason or legal documents. When the
detention period is complete, they force practitioners' families to pay several
thousand Yuan for their release. (Yuan, Chinese dollar. The average monthly
income of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.) Later, they go to practitioners'
homes again, asking them to write repentance statements, followed by another
round of arrests, detainment, and extortion.
8. A Reward of 20,000 Yuan for Arresting One Dafa Practitioner
The Police Department of Dagang District in Tianjin is distributing a reward
of 20,000 Yuan to be split among the policeman and staff each time a
practitioner is arrested.
9. Police Arrest Dafa Practitioner Xuan Rong
After completing a brainwashing class, Dafa practitioner Xuan Rong from
Fengrun County in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, kept on clarifying the truth of
Falun Gong in other cities. He recently was arrested and sent back to the
Fengrun Detention Center, where the guards are refusing visits from his
relatives. The guards at the detention center are notorious for their cruelty in
torturing Dafa practitioners, including hanging up practitioners for several
days and nights.
10. Solemn Warning: Evil Deeds Will Incur Retribution
Peng Xiaomin, former commanding officer of the Datun Township Police
Substation in Chaoyan District, Changchun City, Jilin Province, has illegally
detained many Dafa practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal. He often
colluded with city officials to harass and detain Dafa practitioners, employing
a group of shady characters to help him. He often interrogated female
practitioners in the evening, strip-searching, verbally abusing, hitting, and
kicking them. He was removed from his position recently for taking advantage of
his position to frame suspects.
We hereby solemnly warn Wang Jiangyi, the Party Secretary in Datun Township,
who is still rampantly persecuting Falun Gong practitioners: the crimes you have
committed are clearly known to everyone. You kidnapped female practitioner Li
Guilin from Hanjiujuzi Township around the Chinese New Year and sent her to a
brainwashing class and then to a labor camp. The inhumane torture that she
suffered there has disabled her completely. Practitioner Tao Ye was an education
coordinator and elementary school principal. He was a diligent worker, but you
sent him to the brainwashing class and then to the labor camp. Around the
Chinese New Year, you arrested several other Dafa practitioners and sent them to
the detention center without any reason. You led a group of thugs to jump over a
fence and break into practitioners' homes in the middle of the night. Female
practitioners Shi Suying, Yuan Sukun, and Zhao Xiaoqin were among your victims.
You have ruthlessly broken up happy families, arousing extensive complaints from
the local people. Your assistant Peng Xiaomin's disgraceful end is your warning.
