The following is a history of my son's cultivation practice.

Zhang Haibin, male, 17, was a student in class 3 of No. 22 Senior High School in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. He was an honor student.

He started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997, when he was 13 years old. He underwent extensive changes once he began practicing Falun Dafa. For example,

• He stopped indulging himself in child's play.
• He became considerate of others, sharing the workload with the adults by taking care of his nieces.
• He put more time into study and made great improvements, and because of his excellent scores, he received a reduction of about 3/5 in tuition fees.
• His teacher said repeatedly on family visits that he was a kind-hearted boy. Many people thought so too.

When the persecution of Falun Dafa began in 1999, Haibin was 15 years old. The authorities of the school had several talks with him, pressing him to give up his belief. They constantly interfered with his studies and daily life.

In 2000, the evil force intensified its persecution against Dafa and practitioners. At age 16, my son went to Beijing to appeal, in order to expose the evil, clarify the truth, and restore Dafa's reputation.

On New Year's Day, the school authorities illegally detained him at school, asking him to write a letter of repentance over Falun Dafa. No promise, no release. Only after Haibin went on a hunger strike for a day and a half did his teacher send him home.

During the summer vacation of 2000, the school sent officials and students to our home everyday to watch him. Haibin told them the truth about Falun Dafa, and they promised to never come on such a filthy mission again. Surely school ought to be a place where people are taught to be good, yet they followed the evil force and persecuted the good.

On December 6, 2000, the school gave an ultimatum, asking Haibin to choose between practicing Falun Dafa and going to school. He was not given the opportunity to explain or defend himself.

On December 9, 2000, in order to get away from the harassment of the school, Haibin went to Beijing to appeal. He was arrested and placed in Qinghe Detention Center in Beijing. He refused to tell his name and address so as not to have local police and officials implicated. Hence, he was tortured and beaten.

On December 27, 2000, Zhu, the principle of No.22 High School, recognized him in the detention center and took him back to the school. He was then sent to the Yudong Police Station and was detained there for a month.

Before the Chinese Lunar New Year 2001, the notorious Yudong Police Station sent Haibin to the Shijiazhuang Labor Camp. He was placed in Team Two of Group Two.

The fact that Haibin was being sent to the labor camp made everyone in our family very anxious. Could a young boy (17-years-old) stand the torture in that hell of a labor camp? There have been over 800 Falun Dafa practitioners detained in that labor camp. Group Two is where Tao Hongsheng, a practitioner working in the Security Office of Hebei Province, was tortured to death.

The labor camp refused to allow family members to visit Haibin. My son, what did they do to you in that place where there was no justice? In a choice between life and death, freedom and constraint, could you stand upright with your young body in the midsts of assaults?

In May, Group Two in the labor camp informed us that Haibin had changed his mind. But they required us to curse Falun Dafa and the Teacher before we were allowed to see him. When his elder brother finally saw him, he was shocked at how weak Haibin looked. How much he must have gone through in there!

One week after that visit, his sister-in-law (she is not a practitioner) went to take him some clothes. The policemen falsely charged her with bringing Teacher's articles to the boy. She firmly denied it. The policemen beat her up, right there in the courtyard. They dragged her indoors for another 3 to 4 hours to torture her and vent their personal anger. (There were 5 or 6 policemen and a policewoman in the room.) Her body was covered with bruises from the beating. The police didn't get anything. Finally, they forced her to write a confession saying that she had attacked the police. Thus Haibin's sister-in-law was charged with attacking the police, handcuffed, and sent to the detention center. She was severely injured and the two detention centers she was sent to refused to accept her. The police had no recourse but to release her during the night.

Since Haibin was said to have converted, we asked the labor camp to release him, but they refused, saying that there were just too many people in our family practicing Falun Dafa. They were afraid that Haibin might continue to practice once he got home.

Haibin, my 17-year-old boy, how did you spend your days facing the wicked? It is the most righteous thing to do in one's life to hold a firm belief in Falun Dafa, the truth of the universe. Stand up with righteous thoughts and face the evil. There is nothing wrong in it. We are so proud of you.

The persecution of Falun Dafa will not be tolerated and retribution will follow. Such conduct will bring disaster. None of those who assist the evil will escape the retribution.

As a father, I hereby call upon all the parents in China to take action, for tens of thousands of our daughters and sons as well as for the future of China, to stand up for justice, to stop the torture and killing, to end the repression, and to save our loved ones.

As a father, I speak directly from the bottom of my heart: Jiang Zemin, what's waiting for you ahead is the most despicable ending.
