1. Prisoners Practice Falun Dafa

During my illegal detention period, all the prisoners in the prison house knew something about Falun Dafa. This happened because the examples of our behavior and our efforts had told them Dafa's truth. Eight of the 18 people detained in the prison house were Dafa practitioners. Three prisoners had expressed their desire to practice Falun Dafa after heir release.

One day an accused criminal defendant by the name of Xu was taken to court for trial in the morning. She came back in the evening. As soon as she walked into the room, she told us, "I really admire you practitioners-- from my heart!" Xu and her other co-criminal defendants were accused of robbery. Xu recalled, "I wanted to calm down so I started to sit with my legs double-crossed and did Jieyin (Note: a hand gesture of Falun Dafa exercise) and closed my eyes. Two minutes later, when I opened my eyes, surprisingly, I found all the other 5 people sitting there with their legs double-crossed. Two of them were still handcuffed. I asked one of them, 'What are you doing?' He said, 'I am doing the same thing as you. How can you practice while I cannot?' Then we started to talk about Falun Dafa..." There were practitioners in every prison house. They had spread the Fa and told the prisoners the truth of Falun Dafa. Because the practitioners got along very well with the prisoners, many prisoners had learned the Falun Dafa exercises.

We felt very grateful and moved after hearing this story. The Master was so benevolent to make sure that not any predestinated person would be left out.

2. "She was totally oblivious of us."

Not long ago, while distributing Dafa truth-clarifying literature, a young female practitioner was arrested by plainclothes police who took her to the police station. A policeman interrogated her, "Who gave you this literature?" She answered, "I printed it myself." "Who asked you to print it?" "It was only me who wanted to print them." The policeman stopped asking any more questions.

Later on, that policeman told others, "I knew I couldn't get a word from her from the first moment I saw her. She was totally oblivious of us." He heaved a sigh and said again, "Hey, the founder of Falun Gong is really capable! There are so many people following him and they are not afraid of anything."

3. "That's why!"

One day we visited a family whose neighbor stopped by. Pretty soon we talked about Falun Gong with the neighbor. Answering his questions, we explained to him many truths behind Falun Dafa. He thought immediately that what we said was reasonable. He told us, "That's why Jiang Zemin is so afraid of Falun Gong. It is so hard to describe how devoted all of you practitioners are to Falun Gong and your master." Then this Party member said again, "Jiang Zemin would not be able find three party members in the whole county who could say anything sincere on his behalf." Later the neighbor borrowed the book Zhuan Falun and read it at home.

4. "Falun Dafa is good."

I worked in a private company and resided with other employees in the company dormitories. I practiced the exercises openly in the dormitory and talked about the truth of Falun Dafa to the others around me. These people had only heard about Falun Dafa through the TV programs. Someone advised me that I could be fired if the female boss knew I practiced Falun Gong. I paid no attention to the advice and continued to practice the exercises.

The following day someone did report it to the boss in the presence of the boss' brother. Before the boss said anything, his brother immediately said, "Falun Gong? Falun Gong is good. The people who practice Falun Gong are all good people."

A few days later I met the brother of the boss. He said, "I really admire you practitioners' courage. In such a severe situation, you can publicly claim that you are a practitioner." I asked him, "Do you practice it?" He said, "I can't." "Do you know anyone who practices Falun Gong?" "Not at all." I asked again, "then how do you know Falun Gong is good?"

He told me the story. He had never heard of Falun Gong before July 1999. When the newspapers and TV started cursing Falun Gong endlessly, he was curious to know what Falun Gong was and why they hated and feared it. Later he heard the truth from the overseas reports through the radio. He gradually realized Falun Gong was good and why it was persecuted.

Later the mother of the boss also told me, "Do not pay attention to the authorities who persecute Falun Gong. Turn a deaf ear to what they say; just practice what you want to."

5. "Never ate such a delicious meal!"

On April 20, 2000, I was detained again, due to appealing for Dafa in Beijing. Several practitioners were detained there. We wrote an appeal letter to the Department of Associated Public Security, and the Department of Law Execution, stating that it is against the law to detain legal citizens and requesting that they release all the innocent practitioners who were detained without any formal charge or due process of law. All the practitioners in our prison house signed their names to this letter. Since we couldn't contact practitioners in other jails, we signed their names for them. The prison office immediately went to ask practitioner Ding, whose name had been signed, "Have you read the letter they wrote? They signed your name for you." Ding firmly answered, "I don't need to read it. As long as it is for Dafa, I will sign it."

The prison officers promised to pass our letter to the authorities, yet there was no answer after the deadline had come and gone. We started a group hunger strike and recited Master's poems and articles loudly in the prison house and the open areas. Our voices could be heard throughout the whole prison. The officers came with handcuffs. When they wanted to handcuff someone, others immediately came to stop them while reciting the articles more loudly. In the end, no one was handcuffed.

On the fourth day of the hunger strike, an officer was passing by the prison house window while only one practitioner was inside and others were in the open area. The officer gave her a "thumbs-up," a sign of "praise" or "admiration" in Chinese culture, nodded his head in approval and then left without a word.

On the fifth day, it was April 8 on the Chinese calendar. The prison officers brought four dishes in and told the prisoners in the house, "Today is the birthday of the founder of Falun Gong. You will all benefit from it." Later the prisoners told us excitedly that they never ate such delicious food here even during the Chinese New Year.
