To protest the barbarous persecution my husband and my whole family are going through in China, I will keep a vigil in front of the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa for 2 weeks for 24 hours a day starting from July 25^th, at 2:30 pm.

For 18 months now I have been petitioning for my husband's release, I worry about him every day. But when July 23rd --- the date of his scheduled release finally came, my family members were told that my husband will not be going home and will serve an extra 6 months in the labor camp. At the same time, my husband's brother, Mingli Lin, was sent to the same labor camp --- the Dafeng Labor Camp in Jiangsu Province --- where they incarcerated my husband, and will serve his 2 years of sentence for practicing Falun Gong.

It has been 2 years since the crackdown on Falun Gong started. My husband and my other family members, like the millions of Falun Gong practitioners in China, are experiencing the cruelest, most degrading persecution. They are defending, with their lives and everything in their possession, an ideal that embodies the finest characteristic of the human nature: "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance". When facing the repression carried out by a bedeviled nation, Falun Gong practitioners still treat everyone, including the persecutors, with a selfless and benevolent heart.

To date, my family members have been arrested a total of 14 times. All of them have been tortured, both physically and mentally, for not giving up Falun Gong, a meditation practice which focuses strictly on self-improvement. During the past 18 months of my husband's incarceration, no one has been allowed to visit him; nobody knows what is happening to him; I cannot even send him a letter. The same thing is now happening to his brother. I have no idea if his jail term will be extended in the future.

It is a tragic fact that China is again on a trail towards self-destruction. The group of gangsters in power is again targeting the best of the Chinese culture to vent its anger and jealousness. Spreading lies and fabricating evidence, as we see now done to the detriment of Falun Gong, are deeds characteristic of scoundrels in power. Persecution of Falun Gong, the quintessence of virtue, is the most shameless act ever committed by any government in the history of mankind.

I demand the Chinese government to release my husband and his brother immediately, and stop the mass killing of Falun Gong practitioners. I call on all Canadians to help me end the genocide that is taking place in China.
