A policeman in Southern China disclosed that, according to sources inside the police department, the actual number of Falun Dafa practitioners tortured to death in China has surpassed 1000!

3. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Haiyang County Thugs Spread Boiling Asphalt on Falun Dafa Practitioners' Faces

On July 27, the wicked policemen, Jiang Xuefeng and Zhang Wenfeng, from the "610" Office of Haiyang County, Yantai City, kidnapped Falun Dafa practitioner Fan Qinghong in broad daylight. Although it has been a long period of time, many Falun Dafa practitioners are still being illegally detained at the Haiyang Militiaman Training Base. Among them, nine Falun Dafa practitioners who are firm in cultivating Dafa have been hung from big trees or high places and beaten every day. Among the many methods of torture being used is the spreading of boiling asphalt on the faces of innocent practitioners, horribly disfiguring them and leaving them with third degree burns. Previously we have reported that 51-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner Ren Tingling from Haiyang supply and marketing cooperative was beaten to death. It has been verified that Wang Jie is the murderer. Because all information is blocked, the details still need to be investigated further.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ouyang Ming from Huanggang, Hubei Province is a teacher at the Huanggang Industrial School. He cannot walk very well. He was illegally detained in June. For many days, he has been on a hunger strike in protest. It is reported that he will be illegally sent to a labor camp in the near future. International human rights organizations, international associations for the disabled and other relevant organizations, please pay attention to this case.

5. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Harbin Power Sub-bureau Persecutes Falun Dafa Practitioners

On May 16th, 2001 at about 5 PM, the Wenzheng local police station chief led several police officers, without going through any legal procedure, in a raid on the home of Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Liyan from the Harbin Traditional Chinese Medicine College. They illegally confiscated Wang's property. Later they took Wang to the local police station to persecute her. They forced her to sit in an iron chair for a whole day. They handcuffed her hands to the iron chair, making her unable to move.

In the illegal interrogation, Wang Liyan refused to answer any questions, so the wicked policeman, Zhou Chunjie, fiercely beat her head with his fists. On May 17 Wang Liyan was again illegally sent to the Second Detention Center, and was later sentenced to a labor camp for two years without going through any legal procedure. Currently she is illegally detained at Harbin's Wanjia Labor Camp, suffering further persecution. We hope the kind-hearted people pay attention to her situation.

6. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Yishang Township Official's Fierceness: "Do Not Reason With Falun Gong Practitioners. Arrest Them on Sight."

On July 18, 2001, at the township-wide society public security coordination and administration work meeting, the deputy secretary of the township Party committee, Li Junqi, stated, "Do not reason with Falun Gong practitioners. Arrest them on sight. Whoever reports a Falun Gong practitioner to the authorities will be awarded 1000 Yuan RMB."

According to the local residents, Li Junqi and several well known local ruffians often call each other brothers and live a life of dissipation. He follows the instructions of the Huanggang City 610 office, seeking political capital out of this. We warn Li Junqi once again: Do not stand by the evil's side and be the enemy of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance." Good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil.

At the same work meeting, the township local police station chief said, "In treating Falun Gong practitioners, the Great-Cultural-Revolution-style means of implicating the patriarchal clan [i.e., the method in which if one Falun Gong practitioner is sentenced, all his/her relatives, employers, or even friends will be punished one way or another] must be adopted." He also said that this is the essence of the document issued by the Huanggang municipal Public Security Bureau.

7. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] The Personal Situations of Some Persecuted Practitioners

Wang Xingguo, a 48 year old male:

On May 15, 2001, police from Songbu Police Station in Macheng City broke into Wang Xingguo's house and forced him to go to the police station. The Police Station Chief, Li Zhengde, tried to get him to give up cultivation by savagely beating him. When his family later saw him, he was black and blue, with large bruises all over his body. Regardless of the sinister means employed by the sadistic police, Wang always persisted in cultivation with an unmoved heart, always refusing to cooperate with the authorities. Therefore, he was sentenced to the Hewan Labor Camp for one and a half years. Because he had suffered serious injuries resulting from severe torture, the Hewan Labor Camp was afraid they would be blamed, and they refused to accept him. Regardless of the deplorable situation, the evil regime persisted in his persecution by sending him to Macheng No. 2 Detention Center, where he still remains.

Xiang Mingxian, a 48 year old male:

In February 2001, police from Macheng's Songbu Police Station completely searched Xiang Mingxian's house, inside and out, not even sparing his ornamental lotus pool. Although they found no incriminating evidence, they arrested and detained him. The cruel torture he endured in detention did not change his righteous faith in Falun Dafa, so he was sentenced to one and a half years of labor "reeducation" in the Hewan Labor Camp.

Zhu Xianyong, a 51 year old male:

Because he had gone to Beijing to appeal, Zhu Xianyong was detained in Macheng No. 1 Detention Center. During the detention period, he persisted in practicing Falun Dafa and refused to cooperate with the unrighteous elements, so he was savagely beaten and force-fed with alcohol. Because he remained steadfast in Falun Dafa, he was sentenced to one and a half years of labor reeducation in the Hewan Labor Camp.

Yang Qingbo, a 49 year old male:

Yang Qingbo was detained in the Songbu Police Station in Macheng for distributing Falun Dafa truth-clarifying literature. The Songbu Police Station took unfair advantage of an opportunity when his wife was not at home to ask Yang Qingbo's son to drive his car to the police station. Once it was there, they confiscated his car without giving any receipt for it. Yang persists in practicing Falun Dafa, and was therefore sentenced to labor reeducation in November 2000. He is still detained in the Hewan Labor Camp.

Li Changmao, a 53 year old male:

Police at the Qiting Police Station in Macheng City cruelly tortured Li Changmao because he validated Falun Dafa. He was tortured for two days and two nights, and yet still refused to give up Falun Dafa. So he was sent to the Hewan Labor Camp in February 2001.

Falun Dafa practitioner Yu Jingduan has been missing since July 20, 2001 and his whereabouts are still unknown. It is speculated that he may have fallen into the hands of the maleficent operatives of the Jiang Zemin regime.

8. [Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Professors from Zhejiang University Are Sent to a Labor Camp

At the "celebration meeting" held by Hangzhou City Government last month, the city authorities required civic leaders from all levels, police, family members, relatives and neighbors of Falun Gong practitioners to cooperate in a collective effort to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Once practitioners are caught, they will be heavily sentenced with long terms.

Pan Kaixiang is an Associate Professor at Zhengjiang University, and was a volunteer coordinator of the Falun Dafa Assistance Center in Hangzhou. He was arrested at the beginning of the year 2000 for meeting with other practitioners, and then released at the end of the same year. Following that, he was under government surveillance in 2001 when he was observed distributing Falun Dafa truth-clarifying literature. He was again arrested and sentenced to five years in prison.

Jing Meihua was a volunteer coordinator of the Falun Dafa Assistance Center in Hangzhou. She went to Beijing to appeal last June and was arrested and detained for one month. This year she was arrested again while she was taking care of her sick father in the hospital. The charge was that she distributed Falun Dafa truth clarifying literature, and she was sentenced to four years in prison.

Tang Jinghui exposed the slanderers by uploading a clarification about the persecution of Falun Dafa to the Internet and by distributing over 1000 copies of truth-clarifying literature. For this, he was sentenced to three years in prison.

Wu Xiangbing (male) is a Falun Dafa teaching assistant, and his wife, Wang Dawu, was the previous director of the Hangzhou Falun Dafa Assistance Center. She was sentenced to two years in prison. Although her prison term has long since been fully served, she still remains in detention.

Hong Chang was sentenced to one and a half years in prison for Falun Dafa related activities, and has already been released. She has since been arrested again, however, for distributing truth-clarifying literature.

Tan Xiangceng, female, is a Falun Dafa teaching assistant. She was arrested for the second time, and sentenced to two years in prison for distributing truth-clarifying literature. (She is an army official who has since been dismissed from that employment and from membership in the Party of the current controlling regime).

9. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Liang Yu is Kidnapped by the Police

On the evening of July 30, Falun Dafa practitioner Liang Yu went shopping with her six-year-old daughter. On their way home, Liang was abducted by two notoriously vicious policemen, Huang Li and Shan Yucheng, from the Bayi Road Police Station, in the Xigang District. In Neanderthal style, they dragged Liang by her long hair to the police vehicle. This atrocity caused a large crowd of onlookers to gather around them. Liang's daughter cried, "My mom practices Falun Gong and she is a good person! You police should not arrest my mom and should never hurt her!" Many people were angry at witnessing this injustice, but did not dare to say anything. Among them, two women watched and sobbed, whispering, "If her mom is taken away, how will this little girl live?"

10. [Beijing] Falun Dafa Practitioner Li Baoshu and His Family's Suffering

Beijing (Fangshan District) Falun Dafa practitioner, Li Baoshu, was sentenced to four years in prison for distributing truth clarifying literature, and is detained in a labor camp in Tianjin. In January 2001, the malicious police from Liang Village, in the Fangshan District, illegally entered his house by breaking down the door, arrested his wife, Falun Dafa practitioner Li Suqing, and sent her to the Beijing Police Station. Since her charge was not heavy enough to warrant a long sentence, she was remanded to the Fangshan Police Station. The police were planning to hold a "public trial" for Li Suqing at the end of July. Relatives are now caring for their daughter.

11. [Anhui Province] Injustices Endured by Some Practitioners

Huainan City Falun Dafa practitioner Li Ping was sent to a brainwashing class on August 1.

Hefei City Falun Dafa practitioner Ji Guangkui was arrested in Yunnan Province, escorted back to Hefei and held in a detention center. He appears to have become emaciated due to frequent torture. On August 1, he was sentenced to two years in the Anhui Nanhu Labor Camp.

Hefei Falun Dafa practitioner Song Liang was secretly arrested on June 16 by Hefei Police Station, Section One. At the station, he was handcuffed to a chair and continuously interrogated for twelve days. Song maintained his unrelenting refusal to cooperate with the stubborn malevolence, through his great will power and his "diamond solid" righteous faith toward Falun Dafa. ["Solid, like diamond" is a reference to "Deter Interference," an article by Mr. Li Hongzhi.] Song went on a hunger and water strike for twelve days. The cruel police force-fed him and also tried other inhumane tortures, but he did not yield. At the end of July, he was taken to Anhui Nanhu Labor Camp to begin his two-year sentence.

Song Liang was arrested and detained twice. In 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal and was detained for 23 days. In October 2000, he was again detained, this time for 29 days, and was later released on bail. His wife, Li Juanjuan, has also been detained twice for validating Falun Dafa. Their house has been needlessly searched many times in the last few years.

12. [Yantai, Shandong Province] Officials from "610 Office" Kidnap Falun Gong Practitioners at Night

In late July 2001, officials from the "610 Office" of Fushan District, Yantai City, Shandong Province broke into Falun Gong practitioners' houses at night and illegally arrested them. Falun Gong practitioners from Gaotong Town Wang Yujian, Sun Yuying, Li Yuanhong, Lu Junna and Wang Qihua were arrested; their whereabouts are unknown.

13. [Yantai, Shandong Province] Police Force Practitioners to Eat Salt and Drink Salt Water

Since March 2001, He Songren, the director of the Political Security Section of Muping District Public Safety Bureau, Yantai City, Shandong Province has instigated policemen to torture Falun Gong practitioners. A policeman at the Yangge Zhuang Police Station, Yang Goufeng, forced Qu Song, Wang Huiling and other practitioners to eat salt and drink salt water. Practitioner Du Jirong had to run away from her home.

14. [Baoding, Hebei Province] Falun Gong Practitioners Brutally Tortured in Baoding Reeducation Labor Camp

More than 120 Falun Gong practitioners are detained in Baoding "Reeducation" Labor Camp. Even after persecution and forced labor for one year, practitioners still refuse to denounce their beliefs, and only a few people wrote and signed the "Four Guarantees Statement."

Lou Gan, the secretary of the Politics and Law Committee of the central government, came to Baoding City and gave a secret order to local officials to force all Falun Gong practitioners to give in before "4.25" (April 25, 2001). They were encouraged to closely monitor Falun Gong practitioners by groups and by stages, and to use excruciating methods.

Practitioner Mo Jinpeng became disabled because one of his legs was broken due to torture. A wooden stick of four to five centimeter in diameter was broken while he was beaten. Practitioners who did not give up Falun Gong were tied by their hands, feet and waists to a wooden board and shocked with an electric baton. The officials tortured some practitioners in this manner for seven to eight days. They force-fed practitioners with salt water who were on a hunger strike .

15. [Beijing] More than Seventy Military Policeman Kidnap A Defenseless Female Practitioner

Around July 20, 2000, a female practitioner living in Wali Township, Chaoyang District, Beijing City was reported by an evil person. The local police must have been terrified, because during the night they sent more than seventy fully armed military police to arrest this unarmed practitioner. The military police surrounded her house and kidnapped her. This event stirred up the local people. The evil forces are fierce of mien but faint of heart; they quake with fear in the face of the strong righteous thoughts and divine powers of Falun Gong practitioners.

16. [Wuhan, Hubei Province] The Persecution of a Practitioner and Her Family

In the brainwashing class of Jiangan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, for every Falun Gong practitioner there were two guards. Practitioners were closely monitored even when they went to the restroom at night. Normally, the rule is that prisoners can go to the restroom without asking, but in the case of Falun Gong practitioners, both the practitioner and guard would be punished for doing so. Falun Gong practitioners are not allowed to talk to each other and must remain silent. Even hair-clips are confiscated.

A female Falun Gong practitioner around 50 years-old had been detained for 15 days in the brainwashing class. She hadn't eaten any food for 12 days. The weather was very hot. The personnel of the brainwashing class said that she was faking. The policemen of the No. 1 Police Station, No. 7 Division of the Public Security Bureau beat her face, handcuffed her to an iron fence and beat her neck with a police baton. They broke facial bones, her urine became orange, and her legs and feet were swollen. Personnel reported this to officials who replied that a doctor was coming, but no doctor came.

Her father, who was over 70 years-old, had been hospitalized, and a notice that he was terminally ill had been issued. He wanted to see his daughter at the last moment; however, the brainwashing class forced her to write a statement slandering Dafa as a precondition for seeing her father. She refused. They said that she antagonized the government and didn't care about her family and friends. They said that they could not explain to higher authorities if she did not write such a statement even it was a false one.

In order to prevent her from contacting other practitioners and clarifying the truth for Falun Gong, they forced her four family members, including her younger brother, sister and her husband, to write guarantee statements as a precondition for allowing her to go home to see her father. If she told the truth about Falun Gong again, contacted other Falun Gong practitioners, or disappeared, her family members would have to take responsibility for finding her; otherwise all of the four family members would be detained and dismissed from their jobs, and their children would not be allowed to go to universities, go abroad or join the military.
