[China] Kind-hearted People Protect Dafa Practitioners

On the morning of July 19, as we posted Dafa banners, a plainclothes police officer found us and took one practitioner away. Two other practitioners returned home safely by taxi.

One of the practitioners hailed a taxi when she found a plainclothes police officer following her. Since there were already two passengers in that taxi she hesitated a little. However, the passengers in the taxi told her, "Come on in," so she got in. The passengers asked her, "Are you a Falun Gong practitioner?" She answered, "Yes." Then the passenger continued, "Because I just now saw you posting the banners we returned, especially to see whether you were all right. You were indeed in trouble." The passengers delivered the practitioner to a safe place and did not accept any money.

Another practitioner moved on after she posted the banners. Someone shouted at her from behind, "She is a Falun Gong practitioner. Catch her!" At the moment, a taxi arrived. The police ordered the taxi driver to catch the practitioner. The taxi driver stopped next to the practitioner. The practitioner opened the door and got in. The taxi driver wasn't sure what to do. The practitioner asked him to keep driving. Subconsciously, she told the driver to take her home. He apparently read her mind and took her back home safely.

Harbin City Labor Camp personnel persecuted Dafa practitioners, using a new method. They added a mind-altering substance to Dafa practitioners' food. One who takes this kind of drug will lose control of his mind, become very excited and willing to answer any questions. After a practitioner had become sober again, she realized she told the police another practitioner's name. She felt very regretful. Afterwards, eight policemen pushed her on the ground and gave her electric shocks with their truncheons. Dafa practitioners who witnessed this torture said that she was shocked 108 times. The ruffians then sent the practitioner to Hailin City. Details of her whereabouts are unclear.

Not long ago, a show window in front of the Hall of Science in Anshan City/Liaoning Province displayed many derogatory pictures and articles, slandering Dafa. In order to let more people learn the truth about Dafa, practitioners on several occasions posted flyers, pictures and spray-painted word-characters on the display window. However, shortly afterwards, they were all scraped off. Next, the practitioners sent forth the righteous thoughts and made a phone call to the office of the Hall of Science. They contacted the person who was in charge of the display window and told him with compassion that Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa and hoped that he would replace the slandering materials in the display window. The practitioners also told him the principle of the universe that "good is rewarded with good and evil meets with evil." Those who slander Dafa will meet with retribution. They also hoped that he would familiarize himself with Dafa from a positive perspective and become a good person. Several days later, the materials in the display window had been replaced.

[Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mobs in Mudanjiang City's Labor Camp Video-Record the Brutal Beating of Dafa Practitioners, Attempting to Record a Scene of "Dafa Practitioners Fighting back"

Since last March, the authorities in the Mudanjiang Labor Camp had not allowed Dafa practitioners to receive visitors. They tightly monitored practitioners with a method called "pincer control." This method works as follows: first, they separated Dafa practitioners into each unit and then had two criminals control one practitioner. The police encouraged the common criminals to beat up Dafa practitioners at will. One day, over 40 policemen were ordered to the camp and video cameras were set up. The policemen then beat up practitioners in front of the cameras. If any practitioner had fought back, they would have fabricated stories with the aid of the video recording. However, none of the practitioners being beaten actually fought back. The police's plan to frame practitioners failed again.

[Shanghai City] Shanghai City Police Declare, "You would not be Released even If You were on a Hunger Strike for 200 Days."

Xiong Wenqi, male, 31 years old, holding a bachelor degree, was an employee of Shanghai City's Putuo District Industrial and Business Institute. He was sentenced to 1-?years of forced labor for appealing for Dafa in Beijing in February 2000. After he went on a hunger strike for 35 days and refused to cooperate with the vicious forces, he was released. Shortly afterwards, he appealed in Beijing again. On May 13, 2000, he was escorted back to Shanghai City and sentenced to one year of forced labor. He again refused to cooperate with the vicious forces and went on a hunger strike, this time for 122 days. Xiong was bailed out for medical treatment when his life was in danger.

On May 3, 2001, when he was making some truth-clarifying materials at other practitioners' home, Yangpu District Police officers illegally arrested him. Now he is detained in Shanghai City's Tilanqiao Jail where he had gone on a three-months hunger strike. However, the vicious police people in the Politics and Security Department inhumanely told him, "This time, even if you stayed on a hunger strike for 200 days, you would not be released."

We urgently call on international human rights organizations for support. We also call on all kind-hearted people to pay a close attention to the serious crimes against human rights and the violations against international human rights standards in Shanghai City. We also hope for your help in stopping Jiang Zemin's criminal political regime from brutally torturing and killing kind Falun Gong practitioners.

[Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Police Murdered Dafa Practitioner Chen Chengyong; the Authorities Persecute his Family Members

After the news of Dafa practitioner Chen Chengyong's murder at the hands of police was disclosed, the July 21 article published about this incident on Minghui Net frightened and extremely threatened the "610 Office"[ an office specializing in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners; 6.10 refers to June 10^th, 1999, when this office was set up] and the vicious police. When Chen's elder sister went to identify Chen's body, they took her away. No one knew where she was detained. Chen's father, who had recently lost his beloved son, on hearing that his daughter had also been arrested, could no longer endure these hardships. He became very sick and was hospitalized. An inside source tells us that the old man is so grief-stricken that he wants to die. His life is in danger.

To block the information, the plainclothes officers and other policemen have been watching the homes of Chen's father and sister. The vicious forces also monitor their telephones. In July, to avoid arrest by the vicious forces, Chen's wife, Dai Zhizhen, who is also a Dafa practitioner, left home with her several-months old baby and lives in exile.

Local police kidnapped Dafa practitioners Zhang Liyuan, Hu Yanling, Zhang Cuiping and Zuo Yafen from their homes because the practitioners had posted "solemn statements" on the Internet, announcing, "Falun Dafa is the Righteous Fa and we will never give up practicing." The police also searched and videotaped their homes. These Dafa practitioners have been detained in the local detention center for more than one month.

[Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Police Kidnap Dafa Practitioners From Other Provinces

On July 13, 2001, police from Chifeng City's police station burst into four Dafa practitioners' homes and illegally confiscated their properties. They took away two computers, two printers and many Dafa materials, at a total value of more than 30,000 Yuan (The average monthly income in China is $60.00 in the cities; in rural areas it is $25.00). They took Tong Gang (alias) and Li Xue (alias) away under force. Another two practitioners, Yue Ming (alias) and Li Yan (alias) managed to escape. However, the police did not give up and searched for them everywhere. On the afternoon of August 1, 2001, police found them in their living quarters and took them to the police station for torture. Police also confiscated 3,000 Yuan from them. On August 2, 2001, with the power of Dafa, Li Yan escaped. In front of the vicious police, Li Yan jumped from the second floor and ran away from the police station. Li has now returned to the stream of Fa-rectification.

[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Niushikou Police Persecute Dafa Practitioners

Zhao Lintao, the vice president of Niushikou Police Station in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province tried to buy off Dafa practitioners with cash but failed. He then spent money to buy off Dafa practitioners' neighbors. For 300 Yuan a month, he asked the neighbors to closely watch and follow Dafa practitioners. They had to report to him if they saw strangers visiting them or practitioners going out with bags. They also had to find out where the practitioners went. With this method, the police tried to find out the sources of Dafa truth-clarifying materials and information about the Fa-conference location.

Since November 2000, Niushikou Police Station and Dongnan Police Station had instigated people from the Niushikou Street Office and Chengdu Wufeng Steel Pipe Factory to slash Dafa practitioners' retirement pensions. They told practitioners to write the "Guarantee Letters;" otherwise, they threatened, practitioners' salaries would be suspended. (A "Guarantee Letter" states, among other things, that Dafa practitioners guarantee that they will never again go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa, nor associate with other practitioners, and more). One who signed one of the demands would receive one third of his salary. One who signed an agreement on all items would get full salary. Practitioners told them that it was their constitutional right to have freedom of belief. Practitioners also pointed out that the authorities were breaking the law. Afterwards, the officials agreed to pay them partial salaries as "living expenses." Some practitioners still did not receive any salary at all. To avoid being kidnapped into brainwashing classes, some practitioners had to leave their homes. However, police stations and street offices are now working together to suspend these practitioners' retirement pensions. We also heard that the officials of Dongnan Police Station and Chengdu Wufeng Steel Pipe Factory are working together to suspend the retirement pensions of those Dafa practitioners who had to leave home.

Zhang Lin and Liao Jing, the lawless policemen of Nioushikou Police Station, often broke into Dafa practitioners' houses and forcibly arrested people. They also confiscated practitioners' properties and charged them with crimes they had never committed. These actions have given the police a bad name among the citizens. The police always arrest people first and then, afterwards, collect evidence and hang charges of various crimes on the innocent.

Niushikou Police Station personnel also lied to and threatened the families of Dafa practitioners who were forced to stay away form their own homes. Police tried to make the family members reveal information about those escaped practitioners and forced the relatives to sign the "Guarantee Letters" for the practitioners. These actions upset practitioners' families and made them realize the reality of the so-called "implemental education."

[Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Police Hire Laid-off Workers to Closely Watch Dafa Practitioners

Dalian City's government hired laid-off workers as security guards, paying them 400 Yuan a month. They wear police uniforms but do not have police ID numbers or police badges on their hats. Every night, until midnight, these security guards walk the streets. Under the guise of the name "security guards," they were actually hired to catch those Dafa practitioners who posted Dafa materials on walls. All Dafa practitioners: please use our righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil behind them.

[Huainan City, Anhui Province] Persecution Experience of Huainan Dafa Practitioners Xu Chun and Wang Shiqiang

Xu Chun and Wang Shiqiang are former assistants of the Quanhua Falun Gong Assistance Center. On July 22, 1999, they went to Hefei City to appeal for Falun Dafa. After they came back, the police from the Laolongyan Police Station harassed them many times and ordered them to write the so-called "Guarantee Statements." Xu Chun and Wang Shiqiang persisted in speaking out about the truth. They told the police that Falun Gong taught people to be good and they would never give up cultivating. By the end of July they were illegally detained at the Xiaoximen Detention Center.

On November 6, 1999, Xu Chun and Wang Shiqiang went to appeal in Beijing. The police from Beijing's Dongjiaominxiang Police Station forcibly sent them to Huainan City's Liaison Office in Beijing. On November 13, they were escorted back to Huainan City and transferred to the No.1 Detention Center. On June 30, 2000 they were released. Later on, Laolongyan Police Station personnel and officers from the local town police station searched their homes several times and told them to write the so-called "Guarantee Statements." At the beginning of July, Xu Chun's work unit, the Petrochemical Company, sent him to a room at the Luoshan Oil Bank for compulsive brainwashing, during which period he was not allowed to go home. He was released in August and has since been suspended from work. On the evening of October 16, 2000, police officer Wang Jun from the local town police station attempted arrest Xu Chun and Wang Shiqiang unlawfully, and without due cause. Wang Shiqiang escaped.

Xu Chun was sentenced to one year of forced labor without due process of law. On October 23 Xu Chun forcibly was sent to the Huainan Labor Camp for illegal detention. During the day, he was forced to carry stones and do other heavy manual labor along with other common prisoners. In the evening he was forced to undergo lengthy brainwashing. Xu Chun was released from this labor camp by the end of July 2001.

Wang Shiqiang continued on clarifying the truth to the public after leaving home on the evening of October 16, 2000. On March 28, 2001, he was kidnapped and is now held at the No.1 Detention Center. He was arrested on trumped-up charges and charged with the crime of "overthrowing the Government."

[Hefei City, Anhui Province] Illegal Labor-Camp Sentences for Two Dafa Practitioners from Anhui

Dafa practitioners Xu Jiying and Wang Lixia from Hefei City were arrested at the end of June as they were distributing Dafa leaflets. Afterwards, they were illegally held at the No.1 Detention Center in Hefei City. Recently, they were unlawfully sentenced to two years of forced labor.

In April, police from the Baohe Police Station took Dafa practitioner Zhang Yu from Hefei City against his will. The practitioner managed to escape from the police station but then had to wander about and temporarily become a homeless person. At the beginning of July he arrived home. His freedom did not last long, because at 11 P.M. on July 21, the police forcibly took him away from his home. His present whereabouts are unknown.

Since June 29, we have lost contact with Beijing Dafa practitioner Fan Li. Her present whereabouts are unknown.

[Jilin City, Jilin Province] A Story of the Universal Law in Jilin City: "Good is rewarded with Good, Evil is met with Evil"

A kind person saw a piece of Falun Gong truth-clarifying material lying on the ground. He picked it up, "This is the Universal Law, how can people throw it on the ground?" He then posted it on his door. "Good is rewarded with good." His righteous thoughts will bring a wonderful future for him and lay a foundation for him to obtain the Fa in the future.

In the same residential area, a person was deluded by the lies fabricated by Jiang's regime. This person saw truth-clarifying material posted on the door of his neighbor. The deluded individual tore it off the neighbor's door and took it to the small shop downstairs. He told everyone, "Don't they say that whoever tears it off will receive retribution? I just want to see if I will receive retribution. I just don't believe it!" The next day, when he walked toward his home, he suddenly had trouble breathing. His family members took him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with pulmonary edema, water on the lungs. The doctor siphoned off several liters of water. Previously, this person was very healthy. People are all saying that he received retribution for slandering Dafa.
