1. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Nursing Mother Taken Away from Her Baby to
Brainwashing Class
Xie Hong is an employee of the Sipailou Branch of Hefei Construction Bank.
She has been persecuted many times for practicing Falun Dafa. In April 2001,
during her nursing period, Xie Hong was deceived into going to her workplace and
then taken to the brainwashing class. Because she remains steadfast in her
belief of Falun Dafa, Xie is still being detained. Meanwhile, the baby has been
deprived of his mother. Xie Hong has started a hunger strike in protest. During
this "golden period for human rights in China," even the most basic
rights of women and children are not being protected.
2. [Xinjiang Province] Dafa Practitioners Send Out Righteous Thoughts
Together to Eliminate the Evil
Under Luo Gan's direct orders, the local officials have escalated their
persecution of Dafa. A great number of Dafa practitioners have been detained or
sent to labor camps, causing severe damage to Dafa work and making it harder for
people in Xinjiang to know the truth about Dafa. At the same time, officials in
Xinjiang have intensified the persecution of Dafa practitioners in labor camps
and detention centers, using every method to force them to give up their faith
in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." News of severe torture
continues to leak out. There have been reports of practitioners having their
windpipes cut open for force-feeding while on hunger strike. Many have been subjected
to electric shocks and severe beatings, causing serious injury. Aside from the
physical torture, practitioners have been forced to attend brainwashing classes.
As Dafa practitioners, we cannot allow any persecution of Dafa. Therefore,
practitioners in Xinjiang decided to send out righteous thoughts together twice
each day, starting on August 9, to eliminate all the evil elements that are
damaging Dafa in the Three Realms and in Xinjiang.
3. [Shanxi Province] Teacher's New Articles Broadcast Over the Labor Camps
The labor camps in Shanxi Province have committed many crimes in the
persecution of Dafa practitioners. In order to suffocate the evil, Dafa
practitioners in Taiyuan City placed some speakers over the men's labor camp and
the women's labor camp of the city on August 5. At 4:00 a.m., they started
broadcasting Teacher's new articles, from "Dafa Disciples' Righteous
Thoughts Are Powerful" to "The Effect of Righteous Thoughts."
Dafa practitioners who had been cut off from the outside world were thus able to
listen to Teachers' new articles. They were greatly encouraged, and the camp
officials were shocked. On the pole where the speakers were fixed, Dafa
practitioners painted "Anyone who takes this down will receive
retribution." This message was very effective, and practitioners retrieved
the speakers four days later.
From this event, practitioners were enlightened that as long as we are
steadfast in Dafa and follow the process of Fa-rectification, the evil is
nothing in the face of the powerful righteous thoughts of Dafa practitioners.
4. [Sichuan Province] A Common Yet Remarkable Story of Safeguarding the Fa
One morning in August of 2001, Ajing got on a bus headed for a town in
Sichuan Province. She saw the kind-hearted people on the bus, and benevolence
welled up in her heart. She took out Dafa flyers and calmly told the driver that
she wanted to get off the bus. When the bus stopped, she said to the passengers,
"Sorry to delay you for a few minutes. I have some materials to give you,
and I want to tell you something from the bottom of my heart." Ajing
distributed the flyers with tears in her eyes and said, "These are Falun
Dafa flyers with stories written by countless people with their blood and lives.
Please take them and read them carefully. After you read them, give them to your
relatives and friends. Because to realize that Falun Dafa is good will bring
hope to your life." People in the bus were excited. In the powerful field
of great benevolence, many people said, "Give me one. Give me one."
Ajing gave out all the flyers and got off the bus. As she turned around, those
kind-hearted people saved by Dafa waved good-bye and watched her go on her way.
5. [China] Sending out Righteous Thoughts to Escape
Four practitioners living in the city went to the countryside to post Dafa
flyers and were discovered by the police. One practitioner was able to quickly
get away. A female practitioner left her bicycle behind and escaped on foot. The
police chased after her on a bicycle but could not catch her. She hid in a
cornfield and sent out righteous thoughts for other practitioners to get home
safely. An hour later, she wanted to go home but did not know the way. Just
then, a beautiful yellow butterfly appeared, and she safely followed it home.
The other two practitioners were taken to the police station and beaten up,
but they refused to give their names to the police. After using the bathroom,
one practitioner climbed over two walls and escaped. The other practitioner
failed to climb over the second wall. She went to the entrance and saw several
policemen there. She hid and sent out righteous thoughts, and then she walked
out of the gate right in front of them. A taxi came over, so she took it and
went home. Once again the great Fa of the cosmos revealed its power.
6. [Jingjing County, Hebei Province] Twenty-four Practitioners Detained,
Eleven Missing
Since the Chinese Lunar New Year, the local police have gone out to search
two or three homes every night, looking for Dafa practitioners, greatly
disturbing the local residents.
Nineteen local practitioners went to Tiananmen Square to clarify the truth in
April. They were taken back and have been detained in the militia-training base
in Biao Village. The police refused to allow anyone to visit them. There are a
total of twenty-four practitioners being held at the base, where they are being
brutally tortured. An unmarried young woman was beaten up so badly that she bled
from below her waist. For two weeks, a male practitioner was crammed into a
small iron cage, where he could not straighten his body the whole time. The
militia-training base only provides two meals a day. Each meal is a glass of
water and a steamed bun. Even under such severe persecution, not a single
practitioner has given in. The police declared that eleven practitioners have
been sentenced, but not even the families of the practitioners know who they are
or where they have been sent.
A practitioner named Liu Changlin was able to escape.
7. [China] Cab Driver Distributes Flyers
One day in 2000, some practitioners went out to distribute flyers. On their
way they told the cab driver about Falun Gong. He came to understand the truth
and helped them to distribute the flyers to the passers-by for two or three
hours. When the practitioners got off the cab, he took 20 Yuan less for the fare
and thanked practitioners again and again for giving him the flyers. He said
that if something had happened, the police would have confiscated his car for
sure. He was fully aware of the risk and was willing to take it.
8. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] List of Practitioners Being Illegally
Detained
Xu Langzhou was a traffic cop. He was fired, bound to a bed for eleven days,
and sentenced to two years in a labor camp.
Zhao Fengying was put in leg irons and sentenced to one year in a labor camp.
Wen Yuechao was put in chains and shackles and sentenced to three years in
labor camp.
Wang Sufang was put in leg irons. One more set of shackles was put on her
every five days, each weighing 38 pounds. She was forced to wear them for a
month.
Luo Xiumei was put in leg irons and chained to the ground for fifty days, and
she was bound to a bed for five days. She has been sentenced to four years in a
labor camp.
Mao Linfang was put in leg irons.
Hou Qiying was put in leg irons, and his trial is pending.
Zhou Yuqing was put in handcuffs and shackled together with Chen Rong in July
2000.
Yao Jiaxiu was put in leg irons with hands bound behind her back. She has
been sentenced to three years in a labor camp.
Luo Yuanchao was put in leg irons.
Xuan Xiezhen and Wang Qunhui were beaten up and put in handcuffs and shackles
together.
Wang Qunhui was sentenced to three years in labor camp.
Wu Min was put in leg irons.
Yuan Yuxian was put in leg irons for seven days in April 2000 and fifty-two
days in 2001. He/she was sentenced to two years in a labor camp.
Wu Hanping was fired and sentenced to a labor camp for two years.
Yan Baoping was fired and sentenced to a labor camp.
Hu Gang was sentenced to a labor camp for four years.
Yang Chengying's trial is pending.
9. [China] Stories of Taotao
Taotao is a ten-year-old Dafa practitioner who went to Tiananmen Square with
his parents to validate the Fa after Falun Gong was banned. When Jiang Zemin
started the campaign of collecting "One Million Signatures," Taotao
refused to sign. His classmates reported him to the teacher, and the teacher
asked why he refused to sign. He shook his head and said nothing. The teacher
felt helpless and left him alone. His parents had written letters renouncing
Falun Gong, and the his father's boss asked Taotao, "Your parents have quit
practicing. You are quitting, too. Right?" Taotao said decisively:
"That's their decision. I am still practicing." When his parents were
released, Taotao cried and said: "Don't be foolish. Come back to the right
way. I am not going to stay with you at home. I will stay at my aunt's."
Because of his steadfastness, his parents came to realize their attachments and
wrote solemn statements. They have resumed their cultivation.
10. [Sichuan Province] Dafa Practitioners Are One Big Family
One day, a lady in her 50's visited her relatives in Sichuan Province. She
learned that a local practitioner was being detained and tortured for
distributing Falun Gong flyers. She went to see the practitioner's mother and
told her a great deal about Falun Gong, so that she could understand why her son
gave people flyers. When the female practitioner learned that there were still
many flyers at the mother's home, she took these flyers and gave them out to
people right away. Her relatives came to look for her at dinnertime, but she had
already left after giving out all the flyers, so that others would not be
implicated.
11. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Kedi Electronics Limited Continues to
Persecute Practitioners Having Internet Access
According to inside information, the police in Shijiazhuang continue to
collaborate with Kedi Electronics Limited to persecute practitioners. With
software supplied by Kedi, the police are attempting to collect names of
companies and individuals who have access to the Internet and to block
information from Clearwisdom. Clearwisdom once reported the actions of this
company, hoping that they would reverse their actions. However, Kedi Electronics
has proceeded without heeding the warning. Between August 1 and August 10, the
police tried to collect information on every Internet user in Shijiazhuang. They
plan to install Kedi's software on every Internet user's computer in the city by
August 31.

12. [Hebei Province] A Quote from a Policeman
A practitioner handed a Dafa flyer to a local resident and was reported to
the police. As a result, he was sent to the county detention center.
After a five-day hunger strike, this practitioner was released. When he came
back, a police officer warned him, "You have to know whom you are dealing
with when you try to save people. You can see that he (the person who turned him
in) looks like a four-legged creature. How could you possibly save him?"
13. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Local Public Security Office
Collaborates with TV Station to Slander Dafa
One day, the Wanyuandian Police Sub-station of Lingyuan City dispatched a
group of police officers to accompany reporters from a local TV station. They
arrived at the home of an elderly Falun Gong practitioner. They asked the old
lady to read a speech they had prepared for her, so that they could shoot the
footage and use it to slander Dafa.
At that time, the husband of another Falun Gong practitioner was present. The
police said to him, "You can also say a few words. You can say that your
wife took the demonic path by practicing Falun gong and became crazy." The
husband immediately replied, "It is you who is crazy. My wife is very
normal. What you are doing is all fake."
14. [Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province] Hypocrisy Does Not Cover Up Wickedness
The local government has established a team for brainwashing classes, which
includes leaders, supervisors and staff members who would stay, eat and
"study" with the practitioners. They selected staff members from
different groups including local propaganda teams, the Judiciary Department, the
Civil Affairs Department, labor camps, and universities. Two brainwashing
classes have been completed so far, and a third session is underway. They tried
to shake the righteous thoughts of practitioners with things like "four
dishes and one soup for each meal, accommodation of luxury hotels and a lot of
caring." They adopted the system of "several staff members dedicated
to helping one practitioner" and urged the employers and relatives to get
involved, hoping to distance practitioners from Dafa by taking advantage of
their attachment to sentiments. This thinly veiled way of brainwashing
practitioners has been confirmed as a model and will be spread to the rest of
the province.
15. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Intermediate Criminal Court Judge Kidnapped
Li Mei was a judge of the Heifei Intermediate Criminal Court, known for being
fair and righteous. Over her legal career of more than twenty years, Li has
accomplished a great deal. Li is a genuine practitioner who firmly believes in
Dafa. She has been arrested numerous times, but her belief in Dafa never
wavered.
Around 5 PM on July 11, 2001, Li Mei arrived at her home. While she was
opening the door, three or four people jumped out, threw her into a white van
without license plates and sped away. These people were unidentified and not
wearing uniforms.
The van ended up at Luosigang Detention Center. There was no acknowledgement
for the arrest, and no notification was issued for the detention. These people
were actually police officers.
16. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Local Police Slander Dafa
A person from Jining City once practiced Falun Gong, but he stopped
practicing in 1998. This is a fact known to all of his neighbors. In 1999, this
person died of cancer. In an attempt to slander Dafa, the police went to his son
and tried to coerce him into slandering Dafa. His son refused, but the
deceased's wife went along with the police. We hereby urge people to tell right
from wrong and not engage in things that are against their conscience.
17. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Zhihuan District Officials Persecute
Dafa Practitioners
Yu Shujian, the First Section Chief of the Zhifu Public Security Bureau, is
the leader in persecuting Dafa practitioners. He knows that Dafa practitioners
are good people but still chooses to go against Dafa. With his direct
involvement, since July 20, 1999, dozens of practitioners have been sent to
labor camps, and many have been forced to live in exile. Practitioner Liu
Qiuhong (as reported by Clearwisdom) was rejected by a labor camp for not
meeting the physical requirements. The camp asked Yu to take Liu back, but he
refused. After repeated urgings from the labor camp, Yu had to pick Liu up. On
their way back, Yu told Liu, "As long as you have one breath left, I will
not let you go home."
We hereby solemnly warn Yu Shujian and all other police officers who have
been involved in the persecution of Dafa practitioners: if you don't realize the
error of your ways and change your behavior, you will be punished in due time.

18. [Rushan City, Shandong Province] Police Kidnap Dafa Practitioners
Six Dafa practitioners from the Guchu Village of Xiachu County were kidnapped
by the Rushan Public Security Bureau. They are now being detained at the Xiachu
County Police Sub-station.

19. [Feidong County, Anhui Province] Police Arrest Dafa Practitioners
Around 11 PM on July 20, practitioners Ma Yuanzhong, Song Ling and Li Cuiping
were forcefully taken away from their homes by police from Feidong County
without any legal process. It was the fourth arrest for Ma Yuanzhong and second
for Li Cuiping.
20. [China] Believers of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance"
Not Allowed to Enter Shenzhen
It has been heard recently that people planning to go to Shenzhen Special
Economic Zone must sign a document saying that they are not Falun Gong
practitioners. Otherwise, they will not be able to get their border pass. This
is just another form of forcing people to give their signatures against Falun
Gong.
