The Rectification of the Principle of "Mutual-Generation and Mutual-Inhibition"

In "For Whom Do You Practice Cultivation?" (Essentials for Further Advancement), Master says, "As a matter of fact, from ancient times to the present, human society has had a principle called mutual-generation and mutual-inhibition. So where there is good, there is bad; where there is righteousness, there is evil; where there is benevolence, there is wickedness; where there are humans, there are ghosts; where there are Buddhas, there are demons." These words appeared in my mind whenever I heard, witnessed--or even experienced for myself--the various tribulations encountered by Dafa practitioners during their participation in the Fa-rectification. In the past, however, I unwittingly understood this passage from the standpoint of human beings. In other words, I thought the evil's existence was unavoidable; and so was the sabotage by demons. What I ignored is precisely what Master said following the above passage: "This was a principle in the past... This is how mankind has developed (the principle of mutual-generation and mutual-inhibition will change in the future)."

Apparently, this "principle in the past" has been an arrangement by old forces. Who, then, is going to make this principle change? I believe at the human level, the agent for this change is none other than the Dafa disciples. Now that Master has bestowed upon us the verses and formalities of sending forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil, we disciples shoulder the obligation to eliminate the evil within the triple world.

Dafa disciples are making history. This has been fully manifested in their assisting Master during the past two years' Fa-rectification. In the initial stage of the persecution campaign, "illegal gathering" was a serious label used to implicate the disciples. For example, in 1999, four practitioners from Hainan Province were detained--and later sentenced to up to 12-year prison terms--when they were only chatting along the riverbank behind the Beijing Exhibition Center. The evil used spies and hi-tech video cameras to track them and hyped up the case on TV, as if "gathering" were an enormous crime. To deter several law-abiding citizens from chatting, some at the Beijing Municipal Public Security left no stone unturned--and their craftiness was also exposed at the same time.

Before Jiang and his protégées were able to figure out who was organizing those "gatherings," tens of thousands of Dafa disciples had already embarked on their journey to petition for Master, Dafa and their innocent fellow practitioners enduring persecution. Their courage, commitment and dignified momentum made the evil scared. At road intersections, transportation stations and appeals offices, the evil could not stop our Dafa disciples who kept the principles of "Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance" in their hearts; much less could it deter their "gatherings." It was confused: "Who issued the order?" "Who are the organizers?" How could those roguish people understand the Dafa practitioners who "stand firm against temptations of money and material interest?"

Not giving those wicked people a moment to catch their breath in their futile efforts to stem the flow of petitioning, numerous Dafa disciples resolutely walked onto Tiananmen Square. There, numerous arms solemnly unfurled Dafa posters; numerous selfless hearts made a call that echoes in the universe--"Falun Dafa Is Good!" The evil was a spent force unable to stop the disciples. It was also like a piece of rag that could not even cover the Tiananmen area. Before Dafa disciples, those police, military police, soldiers, scoundrels and thugs reared by the evil on people's sweat and blood felt the fear and weakness deep in their hearts. In short, the inhuman atrocities against Dafa reflect the deep-seated fear of the few led by Jiang and the evil force behind them. They understand they will no longer have a position in the universe when all people in the world long for and believe in the principles of "Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance."

In April 2000, Clearwisdom.net posted an article entitled "Step Forward to Clarify the Truth to the World's People." The article fully demonstrated the disciples' righteous realm of thought tempered in Dafa. In "Rationality," Master guided us from the Fa to "validate the Fa with reason, clarify the truth with wisdom, spread the Fa and offer people salvation with benevolence--this is establishing the mighty virtue of an enlightened being." So, when the evil heads were desperately preventing Dafa disciples from safeguarding the Fa in Tiananmen Square--through slander, torture, implicating relatives and friends, and even killing--and when they were frustrated with their failure to do so, millions of Dafa materials had already been distributed across the country. Numerous Chinese people misled by the old forces had already awakened. In the course of Dafa disciples' validation of and assimilation to the Fa, the old forces' plan to undermine the sentient beings has become so weak that it can be easily crushed.

Under these circumstances, they rolled out the malicious self-immolations. Jiang and his hatchet men were laughing smugly. In the face of the evil arrangements by the old forces, Dafa disciples carried out a comprehensive clarification campaign featuring flyers, newspapers, balloons, posters, banners, speakers, disks, face-to-face talks, etc. The elimination of the evil was widely spread in Mainland China. To have an idea of the campaign's effects, read the following response from an official upon receiving a report on Dafa materials from his staff: "What is it that makes you so surprised? Why not take it home and read it yourself?" As a matter of fact, as soon as the underlying hidden evil is cleaned up, the human side becomes pretty weak.

As pointed out by Master at the Western US Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference of Falun Dafa in 2000, "No matter who assaults Dafa, it's a matter of humans battling gods, and the end result is obvious." In the meantime, outside of China, Dafa disciples were engaged in similar truth-telling activities, which have won widespread support from the kind-hearted people of the world. The condemnations from a number of governments, organizations and individuals over the human rights abuses committed against Dafa disciples by Jiang and his followers have also greatly suffocated the evil around the world.

Since Minghui Net (the Chinese version of Clearwisdom) has been a key part of the effort to distribute materials telling the true story of Dafa, Jiang and his roguish political clique see it as a thorn in their side, and have brought together the Ministries of Public Security and the Information Industry to obstruct Minghui Net and locate printing points of Minghui materials. Contrary to their wishful thinking, however, not only have Minghui articles been delivered in a timely manner to the majority of disciples in Mainland China, such websites as Epoch Times that lend strong support to Dafa have become popular media outlets among the general public in China. It was publicly reported that at least 20% of Beijing residents have received Dafa materials. The truth about Dafa is spreading with an unstoppable force, which has given Jiang and his clique many sleepless nights.

Unfortunately, they have not been able to see, from their repeatedly failed attempts, such universal principles as "The evil can never subdue the righteous," and "One righteous thought is enough to subdue hundreds of evil." Nor have they awakened to their stupidity in acting against celestial changes and to their inevitable failure if their foolish behavior persists. They nonsensically attributed their failed campaign to the so-called "support from forces outside the country," and launched a new round of relentless persecution, whose victims include 6 young scholars from the prestigious Qinghua University. They were imprisoned in the name of the unimaginably exaggerated "crime" of "attempting to overthrow the national government."

Nevertheless, Jiang and his roguish clique have never come to understand that "Falun turns forever; and Buddha Fa sees no boundaries." Our great and compassionate Master gave us the evil-eliminating verses and passed to us the hand gestures--" The Fa rectifies the Cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated. The Fa rectifies Heaven and Earth, immediate retribution in this lifetime." As a result, the evil in other dimensions has been eliminated en mass, and the spectacular stories about disciples' elimination of evil using righteous thoughts have been extensively featured on Minghui. I myself have also experienced the power of righteous thoughts. It used to be one policeman capturing dozens of Dafa disciples; now, even when dozens of policemen besiege one disciple, the disciple can still manage to escape with openness and dignity. Furthermore, numerous cases have shown that even the captured disciples can break through the evil den of iniquity by sending forth righteous thoughts. The situation has changed entirely. The already warped principle of "mutual-generation and mutual-inhibition" is in the process of being rectified.

At the 2001 Canada Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference, Master said, "Meanwhile, we have to eliminate the evil things, period, because they damage the cosmos and damage all beings. This also means that without these evil things there wouldn't be a need for Fa-rectification. This hasn't occurred in any period of history--there's no precedent, there's no example to follow. Your ability to do all of this well truly reflects your greatness as Dafa disciples. And this is your privilege, because no being in history has had an opportunity like this--this is a first." In "Dafa is Indestructible," Master also says, "clarify the truth thoroughly, eliminate the evil with righteous thoughts." Assimilating to Dafa's pure benevolence, Dafa disciples will never resort to violence and will completely use their righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil. From this perspective, whether we can correctly use righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil and whether we can cultivate solidly in Dafa are the requirements on disciples in line with the current celestial changes.

At this time, the evil has exhausted all of its available tricks and is at a loss about the next step. Looking back on human history, how did the conflicts between goodness and evil play out? Jesus Christ was crucified; Sakyamuni was forced to depart via nirvana. Therefore the emergence of goodness in the past was always accompanied by an evil's "test." However, in retrospect of the magnificent Fa-rectification process in which Dafa disciples participate, we can see that the emergence of evil has always been accompanied by the elimination of the evil by goodness. In their concrete actions, the disciples have validated the Fa principles taught by Master: "When the evil is of one inch, the virtue is of 100 feet." At the 2001 Washington DC International Dafa Conference, Master said, "No matter which angle you approach it from, there's a way to ultimately resolve these problems." I realized that throughout the entire process of Fa-rectification, this always holds. The evil's every "smart" move only leads to its unexpected elimination, just as clearly stated by Master "Everything Dafa disciples are doing at present is creating the future." ("What Are Supernormal Abilities?")

I thus awakened to the following: the old principles of "mutual-generation and mutual-inhibition" have undergone great changes, and Dafa disciples are creating the future. It is likely that such a principle as "the evil will never subdue the goodness" or "eliminating evil with righteous thoughts" will be the source of the principle of "mutual-generation and mutual-inhibition" in the future.

This is my current understanding of the principle of "mutual-generation and mutual-inhibition" during Fa-rectification. Kindly point out anything that is inappropriate.
